The Official "Admit you were wrong about Craig" thread

Not entirely true. The Bond novels were popular long before Eon made the movies. There was the one hour Playhouse episode based on the story. There was even a comic strip going before Dr. No came out. Even the fact that JFK loved the book From Russia with Love helped catapult the Bond craze in the States. Bond was going long before Connery came along
I understand. And yet, what was it that catapulted it to the Stratosphere? At some point, Bond became an entity as a film character completely seperate from the literary incarnation.

I was right. After seeing casino royale, I saw that Craig was an incredible Jack Bauer... But wasn't bond at all.

I´m Sorry but I don´t admit I was wrong about Craig as Bond.

because...

Daniel Craig is only a rip-off of Jason Statham in The Transporter!!!!

Casino Royale is only a movie based in the Transporter Movies and this is the real proof about why Jason Statham is the perfect James Bond.

Jason Statham?

Are you drunk?

Now if you said Jason Bourne (Matt Damon), your argument might have a 'little' more merit, but saying Craig is imitating the god-aweful Transporter? That's just absurb!

The Books and the Novels initially, but the movies yeah when Goldfinger came around. Dr. No was popular, FRWL that got the fire going further, but it wasn't until Goldfinger where it reached that. But that's how I look at it.

I was right all along and thus feel incredibly smug.

Craig may be rougher but he has yet to show the charm of Bodn that Brosnan had in spades, so I'll wait before I declare him better than Brosnan. And whoever wrote he was better than Connery, don't post again.
That's the problem I have with Craig, his Bond was good but it lacked the seductive charm of the others. "You noticed.(?)" Just seemed like a regular guy trying to be funny, rather than "I could take you to bed anytime I want and you know it." James Bond.

what do you expect, Bond to be charming 100% of the time? i swear some people would shoot their load if there were ever a scene with James Bond in his tux, shooting down faceless baddies in the middle of a room, with a martini in one hand, meanwhile charming a lady into bed with him after he runs out of his unlimited ammo.

the thing i loved about this Bond is that he's BELIEVABLE! he has flaws. his charm doesn't work all the time. it works most of the time, but not all...and i'm sure there are times where even Bond doesn't feel like putting on his full charm. "you noticed"? what was he supposed to do, lol after he said it? how can you possibly deliver a commonly used line that consists of 2 words that would make a woman need to change her panties?

Craig had PLENTY of charm..."perhaps you just haven't practiced", "welcome to my home", "you're not my type...single", "once you've tasted it, that's all you want to drink", "that's because you know what i can do with my little finger".

It was the first that came to mind, and I don't expect Bond to be charming all the time, but I do expect to be charming when he's meant to be. Craig's Bond wasn't. Other than that I like it.

I have to say this about Craig. The only thing I thought when I saw him was "he doesn't look like James Bond." But really, I didn't care, because I never liked James Bond movies. I thought they were boring, and I thought they focused more on gadgets then storyline.

Then I went and watched Casino Royale....and everything changed. It made me into something I never thought possible...a Bond fan. I can honestly say I think Craig is friggin awesome.

You know that reminds me of something, when I walked out of that theater, I was thinking "that movie had everything the Bourne Identity should have had. I loved the Bourne books, and I think the more realistic approach of this Bond movie appealed to me because I was more into the more realistic kinds of spy stories then the outlandish ones.

If you paid any attention to the movie, you'd be aware that Craig was charming and that his lack of the usual amount of charm that we're used to was deliberate because he, through out the movie was being moulded into a refined, English gentleman.

Yeah.

In other words - this is the origin of Bond we're seeing here. It can't get any more obvious than that.

You're supposed to expect the unexpected as far as what the cast and crew had been saying about this new Bond.

If anything, the full on charm, within the realm of believability of course, would be reserved for the next film. So there'll always be something to look forward to.
