that's funny...because this is the first Bond film that ever made me feel like i wanted to be Bond. i never wanted to be Bond, i don't want to be Jack Sparrow, and i don't want to be (insert random hunk character that women drool over), but when i watched Casino Royale...Craig made me want to be Bond. Connery, Moore, Dalton, Brosnan....none of them did that for me.

Can anyone in the same breath even compare Craig to Connery, Brosnan or Moore . NO.
i just did.

The guy who played Q passed away, so replacing him is out of the question and he doesn't need to be replaced.

Casino Royale is the Bond film that should've been done a long time ago. Hell, I doubt you've actually seen the film.

Every other character in the series - Bond, M, Moneypenny, Felix - have all been replace several times over. Why not Q?

I've never liked that explanation of who Bond is. That's who Connery's Bond was, but all subsequent interpretations of the character don't have to fit that mold. That's certainly not Fleming's Bond.

But just for argument's sake, my friend walked out of the theatre and said that, for the first time with any Bond film, he wanted to be James Bond.

He is suave, classic, debonaire. Craig exhibits nont of that sophisticated charm that makes the fans of James Bond keep coming back.
Craig is suave, IMO. Very much so. Just watch his interaction with Vesper on the train. And furthermore, I'd say Craig is one of the coolest 007s we've ever had. Coolness seems to ooze from his every pore.

I completly dissagree...I thought he was the opposite of everything Bond should be.

I have, you still havent stated anything specifically.

I thought he was the perfect pre-Bond.
Getting to see him slowly mold into the James Bond we know was awesome. :) I loved every second of the film.

Expand, how did CR fail to do this? Ill bet you side step the question.

Why would I continously try to explain my feelings ona message board to some random bum? Ive said why I didnt like it - thats enough....not side-stepping

And alot of my reasons are here

'If you have ever been a true James Bond movie fan you would know that Craig brings nothing to the Part of James Bond. I dont have much intrest in another Bond movie, with this man being cast as James Bond. Or with the same aweful dialogue and script, boring elements. James Bond is not a mere action hero. JB..is totally a fantasy of what ladies dream of and what men would like to be. He is suave, classic, debonaire. Craig exhibits nont of that sophisticated charm that makes the fans of James Bond keep coming back. He started out from a character in a book and he grew into an image. The features of the character that are forever James Bond, are true today as they were when he first hit the movie screen. There are some things you cannot put "an up to date spin on it", because some things are classic, and are never out of style. Back in the day James Bond was before his time, so here he is...Well why take from the Character all that made him. Can anyone in the same breath even compare Craig to Connery, Brosnan or Moore . NO. There were other very impressive contenders to play the part, they should have gone with someone else'

LOL! Side stepped. That post says what you think Bond is, you still havent stated specifically how Craig didnt pull it off.

People can, and SHOULD like who they want to like. I was/am a big Brosnan fan.

Brosnan had said several times that he wanted to do a Bond with more story in it, too bad he didn't get to do this one, I feel it really would have shown what Brosnan was made of.

I can say the same (with the exception of Connery)

Exactly. The Movie Bond is nothing like the actual Bond from the books. Craig is the real bond from the books, not a silly catchphrase spewing caricature that everyone thinnks is the real Bond.

Oh man Lets be fair. Before everyone loved brosnan and hailed Golden eye
and the other bond films and actors. Now they say that that is not bond and that craig is the real bond because he's portrayed the character just as in the books. Well remember that everyone knows the bond from the movies and not so much the one in the novels, so its logical that some will still prefer the movie version(they're used to it). And not because the other bonds were not portrayed exactly as in the books does it mean that their bonds are not faithful representations. As much as I like craig's bond I'am objective when it comes to pointing out the great things others brought to the table as bond. Specially connery and brosnan. They still spew some one liners and quips but hell they sure were great as 007.as a matter of fact craig has his own one liners and I think some of those give bond part of his wise ass personality.

Is everyone feeling bad about bashing the new Bond (that is, if they were one of the ones who were doing the bashing) and repenting?

I don't know, I was lucky enough to have read Casino Royale around the time they announced it the direction they were taking the film series. Therefore when Craig's name popped up, whom I'd seen in Road to Perdition, Tomb Raider, Munich, and of course the incredible Layer Cake!

I've been for Daniel Craig since day one.

But no one needs to apologize (unless voodoo tactics were taken, cause that's just uncalled for) because it is such a big departure from the standard Bond (i.e. Brosnan, Moore, and to a certain degree Connery). It's because Brosnan's 007 just didn't seem to fit in anymore. He literally became a relic of the cold war. Craig's Bond seems to be fitting in quite nicely... :)

Goldeneye we get your point, you don't like Daniel Craigs Bond, but you can shut up now and go watch your favorite Bond films Moonraker and A View to a Kill! :woot:

But, those "classic" things would have to certainly be tweaked. Alot of those things made the Brosnan films predictable.

And, I dunno about you....but there were some really ****ing hot women in CR. With actually good personalities too, to boot.

What I liked about CR was that they essentially broke the mold. They broke the "system" per se. They simply said, **** you to the cookie cutter and tried something different and it worked.

Boring? I don't think we saw the same film.....lmao.......

I won't admit I was wrong about Craig, because I thought he'd do a fine job and he did.
