Let's talk about The Amazing Spider-Man 2 screenwriters Alexander Kurtzman & Roberto Orci.
I summed up their writing credits down below:
The Good
1. Star Trek
2. Star Trek Into Darkness
3. Mission: Impossible III
The Bad
1. Cowboys and Aliens
2. The Legend of Zorro
3. People Like Us
The Michael Bay
1. The Island
2. Transformers
3. Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen
TV credits:
Fringe, Hercules: The Legendary Journeys, Xena: Warrior Princess, and Alias.
It seems to me that they do well with what they are given. They are still relatively new, so its hard to judge them fairly until they have more films under their belt.
The two Star Trek films directed by JJ Abrams were quite amazing IMO, despite some plot holes. I also really liked Mission: Impossible: III, which was also directed by JJ Abrams.
They wrote a few bad films, such as Cowboys and Aliens, but then again how do you write a really good movie about cowboys and aliens? As I said earlier, they seem to do well with what they are given.
I won't judge them harshly on the Michael Bay directed films. Its Michael Bay. Need I say more? On a side note, Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen was written during a writers strike, so that movie suffered A LOT.
Now that they are writing Amazing Spider-Man 2, how do people feel about this? Keep in mind, they are technically doing a re-write, or a script polish. The first draft was written by James Vanderbilt, writer of TASM. One thing I can say about them is that most of their films have a good amount of action (Star Trek, M:I:III, Transformers).
