Ok, so geriatric Pym. Got it.
Unhappy.

Holy crapola! This just got me really pumped. He is the kind of actor that lifts others up around him and makes them work harder. This should be great!

Michael Douglas are you ****ing kidding me? Nice...

Zeta-Jones is Wasp right?

Cool cool cool.

Wonder what they do with Wasp

Hank Pym is trending on Twitter.

This'll be the one and only time that ever happens ;)

That said, I'm really interested to see how the rest of the casting shakes down. I don't think this means Pym's a villain, but he might be an antagonist. Wright loves his little twists and stuff.

Wow...that's craazy. Wow.

Great actor, looking forward to it even though Pym is old. Excluding Thor, that makes Pym the oldest hero. Cap doesn't count because he was frozen.

Douglas looks really old these days. He looks like Kirk Douglas in Saturn 3 or even in Tough Guys.

And according to Bleeding Cool, he's the villain. But they got their source from Variety. However, Marvel themselves don't state he's the villain. But perhaps they are planning to make him so, but don't want to give the game away. It could be another Mandarin-type of scenario where they completely change the nature of a comic character, and since it's directly from Marvel, it will probably become official in the comics and all other mediums too.

I don't see Douglas's Pym ever joining the Avengers. Even Dr Selvig has more chance of joining them than Pym.

Because Douglas with a gorgeous young wife would be so unbelievable :cwink:

No, not unbelievable. But what's good for the goose is good for the gander, right?
In fact, let's cast all remaining heroes with amazing actors in their 3rd age. You know, because it's okay.. because they're great actors!
Helen Mirren for Captain Marvel
Morgan Freeman for T'Challa
etc
etc
etc

So Wright was determined to stick with the idea of Pym being Ant-Man in the 1960s, and Pym was always going to be old. It looks like there was never really any other interpretation of that statement (eg Pym technically being the Ant-Man of the 60s in the comics, but perhaps shifted to a more recent decade).

Unfortunately, i think this casting pretty much confirms that.

The old-timey hero turning into the elderly villain? Reminds me of Up.

I kinda did. Not the casting choice but it's what I've been fearing for years.

How? Thor is like a thousand years old.

*** Oops just reread your comment ***

Yes you are right.

Didnt see this coming

I don't see him ever being any of Pym's other identities. Not unless he changes the name of some of them - eg Geriatric Man, Thermal Jacket etc

Reminds me of the first Mission Impossible movie where they destroyed the Jim Phelps character (who was originally the hero of the TV series as portrayed by Peter Graves). He was turned into the aging villain (played by Jon Voight) against Tom Cruise.

Too soon to joke, too soon.
I'm in mourning.
