You doubted that Rudd was playing Lang too, though. :sus

actually, i'm just a really superstitious person. i didn't want to "jinx" myself on this one. if you go back to the very rumors of Paul Rudd being considered (on this board), you will see me say that his personality reminds me of Scott's. people were going on and on about how Rudd was all wrong for it; assuming that only Pym could be the main character. i was defending Rudd. i said that i'd gladly take him as Scott. i'll go see if i can find the post.

As I correctly stated, Hank Pym is being written out of the main MCU timeline.

Well it is still an Edgar Wright film, so it is most definitely still going to be fantastic. It really looks like he is doing the story he always wanted to.

And once again, yeah Cassie. :D

Except he's clearly in it as Michael Douglas

And you missed the point entirely. No he's not clearly in it. He's old man Ant-Man. He's the predecessor. He's Russell Crowe as Jor-El. He's NOT going to be the younger modern Ant-Man that will be fighting the villains and interacting with the Avengers.

He will not be a part of the seminal stories like he was in the 616 comics.

Or Anthony Hopkins as original old-man Zorro. Or even movie Jim Phelps from Mission Impossible - once a hero, now a (possible) villain.

just part of a seminal movie played by Michael effing Douglas.

just wait until she takes up the mantle.

That's not the same as being "written out of the timeline" :funny:

He's clearly in at least one story, and that is this movie. He could be in Avengers 3 for all we know, his friend Selvig was in Avengers. None of these stories are exactly the same as from the comics, 616 or otherwise. So it's really a moot point to be the exact same character he is from the comics, that is not necessary for him to be involved in more movies.

OK and? This movie won't be his story. It will be Scott Lang's. Scott Lang is the modern, younger Ant-Man who gets the large focus of the story, not Hank Pym. At most, he might be mentor to Lang. That's it.

He won't be involved in the major movie storylines or be in the main action fighting alongside the Avengers. Scott Lang will.

Uh yes it is. Hank Pym will not be integral or in the main part of the action of any of the later stories. It will be Scott Lang now. He will be phased out of the major storylines he was a part of in the comics and be put in the background.

Am I the only one who thinks Wasp will potentially be Scott's love interest in this film?

:jedi

Whoa there, you know I was just joking. :funny:

Love the actor but... wish they switched the roles around. Hank's the Ant-Man I give a crap about.

Just to be clear, I don't think this makes it a bad movie. I think it could still be very good.

I'm just disappointed we aren't getting Hank Pym as the main player.

This has always been Wright's vision and they are going with it. So only time will tell if he had the right idea.

Just remember, Singer's vision for Superman Returns did not work out.

The original Young Avengers comic is one of my absolute favorites. I adore Kate and Cassie. One of the reasons "The Adventures of Hawkeye and Hawkeye" is my favorite Marvel comic going.

I think it is unfair to compare Singer and Wright. Wright hasn't even made a good movie. He only makes fantastic ones imo. :)

What if they just use CG to make young Michael Douglas?

Or the movie could be about both of them and could just slightly lean towards Rudd....? A shocking concept I know.

Sorry, I didn't know you were Kevin Feige/Joss Whedon/whoever is doing the next Avenger movies. :funny:
