Well, they are aging Peggy Carter for Cap 2, so I'd imagine Marvel wouldn't be against de aging Michael Douglas if it looked right. Technology has come along way, even since Tron Legacy, and considering the 60s ant man footage will probably only have a few close up shots of young Pym rather than a whole movie like tron with bridges, they'll be able to do it with a relatively easy budget.

Don't know if I'm posting this in the correct thread, but anyway:

Marvel is now in early talks with Evangeline Lilly for the female lead.

Edgar Wright is directing the superhero film with Kevin Feige producing. Wright also co-wrote the script with Joe Cornish.

Plot details are still vague, but fans have suspected Wright is taking a different approach. It is unclear who Lilly would be playing, though some insiders say she would play Pym’s (Douglas) daughter and Lang’s love interest.

I don't like EL at all. I hated Kate on LOST. Sawyer made her a better character (and EL a better actress IMO). Admittedly I haven't seen The Hobbit yet, but… she's so bland to me.

Plus seriously, it's like Marvel's avoiding looking at women of color for these roles. It's so frustrating.

and i actually agree with you on that. her character from Lost was kind of unpleasant, to me. but...i have been a big proponent of young Pym being played by Josh Holloway. so there's that link.

Not counting Ming Na on Agents of SHIELD, there's only one and she's playing an alien. I'm positive that there will be more, especially within the Netflix shows.

Since they're taking some cues from The Ultimates, they could've cast Jan as Asian though.

There's also the consideration that some of us have, that the Avengers is just painfully un-diverse.

It's not a big deal for some, but for me it's not a good look for Marvel.

Also, I just don't like EL in anything I've seen of her. Granted I hear she was good in The Hobbit, but I haven't seen that yet.

I'm certain we'll see Misty Knight pop up on the Netflix shows. Not sure about Colleen Wing though.

They were looking at Rashida Jones, who is half black (due to her famous father), but she can easily pass for white in the movies.

See the Ultimates version of Jan, who is Asian. There are a lot of cues from the Ultimates as well, they could've taken a chance here as well.

That explains it. I never jumped into the ultimate universe. Anyway I wouldn't get too frustrated. Nothing official yet and plus their are so many characters that haven't been brought to the big screen yet. The MCU is only going to get bigger and I'm betting you'll get to see the characters and the diversity your looking for!

LOL! I know. I think since I don't find her a good actress, that's making it worse for me.

Maybe if I had seen The Hobbit I might be better with this news.

But yeah, either it's too early and there might be another option coming, or I'll get used to the idea at some point.

I don't have a problem with Lilly as Wasp. I know Hutch drew Janet Pym to look like Lucy Liu, but that doesn't mean they have to cast an Asian actress for the role. I'm just glad to see that there is this possibility that we'll get to see Janet on the big screen finally.
