Ant-Man The Official Ant-Man News and Speculation Thread

Time travel is the worst thing that ever happened to the sci fi genre; not once have I seen a movie with time travel that has not been riddled with paradoxes and ridiculous presumptions about how time travel would work out. Not once. I'm already skeptic about DoFP, please leave it be.

I liked Lang too but I still wish they would stick with the Pyms first.

If it weren't for him, Ant-Man wouldn't even be happening. So. . .

Correction: If it weren't for Kevin Feige and Marvel, Ant-Man wouldn't be happening. Had Wright backed out of the project, they simply would have hired someone else.

You sure about that? I'm pretty sure this is happening out of the fact that Wright was going to do an Ant-Man film with another company before Marvel regained the film rights. Feige and Marvel are doing this largely because Wright still wants to, even after six (possibly more) years.

I have a feeling that Wright wants to wait until Obama is out of office to make this movie. When Obama said "four more years" on Tuesday, maybe Wright also thought to himself, "hmm... four more years!"

And I wish they did.

So do I, frankly. When Wright had Ant-Man in development hell all those years I hoped that he would finally just drop out and leave the project for someone else. While I love the character (Pym) and believe the film has potential, I have little faith in Wright's ability to do it justice. Hopefully this will be like Favreau going from Elf to Iron Man, rather than like Story going from Barbershop to The Fantastic Four.

The fact is that Marvel owns the rights and they would have proceeded with the film had Wright dropped out, if they so desired. Whatever work he had completed on AM belonged to them; they could have used it or simply hired someone else to go forward. Wright's foot-dragging is the reason for that six year delay, from all that I've read. That delay prevented Ant-Man and The Wasp from being in The Avengers. In The Wasp's case, Whedon definitely wanted to include her, perhaps leaving Ant-Man for the solo film, but that got shot down.

I think they need to make this movie quite hardcore...to stop ignorant people going "LOL what sort of a super hero controls ants?"

Hank and Janet both have to be in Ant-Man and TA2, no ifs and buts.

Don't think it makes much of any sense to have Scott Lang of all people hopping around in an Avengers roster that's otherwise consisting of mostly classic Avengers.

For the general audience, Bruce Wayne is Batman (even though in the comics several people have been "Batman"). We should start from a similar premise: Hank Pym is Ant-Man (and Janet van Dyne is the Wasp). It will muddy the waters if you put Scott Lang in there from the get-go. Only one Ant-Man at a time, please. And quite frankly, I'd prefer Hank Pym to be the only Ant-Man in the MCU. One of the reasons for that is that Hank and Janet are an item, they need to be together. They're one of the oldest, classic Marvel couples. You don't just break them up.

And while I think Wright is a good choice for an Ant-Man type of action movie, if he's unwilling to make a Hank/Janet - centric movie, then obviously someone else needs to step in. Or cameo Hank & Janet in some other Marvel movie and put them straight into TA2.

NO to Scott Lang, at least as (an) Ant-Man.

I wanna see ants swarm people like in Indiana Jones or the Scarab beetles in The Mummy. It should be Creepy.

Yeah, but you'd think people would respond to the novelty of a superhero who can grow or shrink, assuming they handle it in a clever fashion.

Maybe the Ant-Man Movie could have a older Hank Pym (And have flashbacks) and have a young Scott Lang and Janet Van Dyre

Personally i would love to see the Ant-man Movie being set in the 60s and have that B Movie Vibe but also have it also be similar to a modern superhero movie like Iron Man at the same time..kinda like Captain Amercia:The First Avenger but in the 60s

But as just said, Marvel has been waiting six years for Wright to have the time to do this--they could have easily gotten another director during those years if they wanted. The mere fact that they didn't I think shows that they really want Wright to be the one to do this.

Closing thing we got to a trailer is the animated stop motion of the comic con Ant-Man test footage someone did :csad:

Am i the only one who thinks the costume in this Storyboard is what the Ant-Man Costume is going to end up like?

i sadly couldn't go to the panel at Comic Con, but I was wondering if anyone found the test footage online? i'd really love to see it.

Its easy go the route of Dr.Octopus in Spiderman two.
The Arms in that movie were invented more out of neccesity for him to
do his experiments so after that there was no real need for explaination.

Have him as a scientist working with nano bots and what not and working on
the ability of making things smaller for experimental purposes you can even have him experimenting with insects(Ants)and trying to use them and control them for experimenatl purposes on nano bots or as an alternative to nanobots.

He decided to use Ants because of their work ethics and the ability to carry loads and such. Thus winning him the name of Ant-Man from his peers.Until things backfire and he becomes small and have this tremdous action scene of the Ants trying to attack him him.
He then grows large again and this time use the device he has been using to control them.
In other words don't just come out with the whole Super hero purpose to begin with.
Take Ironman 1 for instance he was always able to create the outfit but it wasn't until he had to that he did.then afterwards he just improved on it.

Same thing here.

As far as I know it's not online, but a few people at Marvel have said they might release it at some point
