"who's the fool, the fool or the fool who follows it" that was a great saying by Obi Wan Kenobi. go ahead and spend your hard earned money or probably your allowance on this movie while the execs at Sony Laugh at you like they did at all of us who spent money to see Spidey 3.. They are laughing all the way to the bank LMAO... I'm gonna invest in Sony and Marvel starting once this trailer get's fully released, so i can laugh right along with Sony..

@WhineyBody

I will. I will spend my money on a potentially good film. I will go in with an open mind, wanting it to be great, but prepared if it's poor. I will then leave the cinema with a fully informed opinion. So yes, I shall spend my money :)

hahahahahahaha you sound like me before i went into see spiderman 3.. GOOD LUCK LOL..

People are moaning about the orgin story but please keep in mind :

The actual movie may not be as linear as the trailer is. The trailer HAS to be linear inorder to tell and show a coherent story to the audience in 2 minutes. The movie could very well start from the ending, where Spider-Man is moments away from death, and everything STOPS.

"Lemme explain how I got here"............

We're taken back to the events leading up to the end.

Marc Webb, judging from 500DoS, loves to play around with the narrative.

AND if it is a linear origin story, who cares if it's done different and, dare I say, BETTER?

well gentlemen its been real...I've said my piece...this place is getting a bit too crazy for my tastes....see ya around

hahahahahahaha you sound like me before i went into see spiderman 3. A reasonable human being. And this seeing SM-3 is the result. :waa:

I'm lucky to know that, even after spidey3, that it's very immature to get upset over a film and start acting like an immature child towards others over something so trivial. It's a shame spidey 3 did this to you. Bless you child... bless you :waa:

I like how we all band together to fight the crazies.

For me, and many others, Shia is not peter parker to us. For whatever reason, I cannot see the guy as spiderman.

Oh ok so when you first heard Tobey was gonna be Spidey what was your immediate reaction? you prob said who? What was your 1st reaction to hearing Andrew Garfield was gonna play spidey? yeah and don't even front..

I don't know if this has been pointed out, but...

I think that scene with Peter catching the fly is his discovery of spider sense.

Webb did say that we would have a feel of what it's like to be Spidey

not just spidey 3 but the whole franchise was a bit empty.. that's what happens when you get a director who was no idea about scale or how to make a movie EPIC.. Looks like they are repeating history LMAO...

INVEST now while the price is affordable....

It makes no difference to me how you feel about the POV shot, but I'm curious to understand how you feel it's killing cinema, as I personally can't grasp your logic here. Cinema is an art form, and like all art forms, the possibilities are endless and no artist should be limited by rules and preconceived notions. And the POV shot is nothing new; EVERY movie has POV shots. They're just far more subtle. Silence of the Lambs is a good example - there are several POV shots in that movie.

Yeah, but they serve a purpose, they're not here just to be cool. I get the whole idea of "cinema = art", I defend that idea. But if you main goal is to make money, then I guess that don't get on my "art list". Not here to discuss on what is art, and what is not. But if cinema is an art (and it is), that don't mean that every directors are artist.

For exemple, take a action movie these days... Bay's method (and many others of course, just took him as an exemple) is to place camera everywhere during an action and select shots during editing. In the 80's/early 90's, when action really pop out as a genre, every fight scene was in director's mind, they knew where to place camera, how to edit the scene... Now we just have tasteless fast scene, it's messy... and that's not art to me (It's not because you got a brush in your hand that you're a painter).

Since a few years, Blockbusters equal **** (mainly, there's still some exceptions as always), that was not the case before. Some guys have camera in their hand and believe that it was enough to be a director. That gave us the tasteless action scene, poor writing etc... Now they've added "3D" to that, and now, these so called director use that (and producers forced some to do so) just because it give a sense to their lack of talent. If you shot in stereo, you want the audience to be amazed like in was a roller coaster. You don't care about directing, about story, about characters (and that's what I've noticed)... It give sense to pointless scenes (as this one).

Now I accept 1st person, if it make sense or if it bring something to the movie. Here, it's in the trailer just to make people watch the movie once released (kinda logic for a trailer). This scene is the "prostitute" argument of the trailer, "I show you a bit of my boobs, come to see the rest of it"... it's really poor marketing, like explosions in bay's movies. Action must serve a point, the story. Not the other way. This scene is here just to be cool... it doesn't serve anything.

Ok, I'm a little off the topic right now ^^ Anyway, that's something I see since a few years in the Hollywood system. Usually I don't care (even if I love cinema, I'm not disapointed if a film is bad, because they're still great ones)... now we are talking about Spidey, and that's really made me sad :p

And that's conclude my way to long post :p

EDIT :
And I was one of those who were excited by Spidey 3 (even if it has Venom) before seeing it... When the first one was annouced, I was a huge fan of Raimi and Elfman (and Spidey of course). Got excited, got well serve. The same for the second. For the third (as I try to be aware of many things, I knew everything was not fine during production. Elfman saying that he wouldn't return because Raimi havec "changed", Venom (even if I knew Raimi was not a fan of him)... anyway, all that to say that it's certainly the first time I get all that excited and then... saw the movie... First hour good, pure Raimi genious, and then the church scene and the impression to see another movie. So now, with what I know (or think to know), I am a little more on my guard. Give me that same trailer ten years ago, and I would be totally sold to it. (not totally since I don't like Ultimate and this sounds very Ultimate, but you never know, USM game was great in game :p)

B89 actually had an origin story, it just did it through flashbacks more so. But Begins went deeper into the actual events that made him who he was. And I think it great if TAS goes deeper into it, yes some of the things are the same, bitten by spider, Uncle dies. It's more of how the character arch goes and how deep they go into it. I have a feeling we will see just more of it, with twists of its own to not make it stale.

Truly excited for this film though.

Oh ok so when you first heard Tobey was gonna be Spidey what was your immediate reaction? you prob said who? What was your 1st reaction to hearing Andrew Garfield was gonna play spidey? yeah and don't even front..

Tobey, when first announced, wasn't sure. It didn't feel right. Then, I saw the film, and through the excitment of seeing spidey on the screen, thought he andthe film where the greatest ever. Then, after the hype died down and I saw spidey again, I thought both he and the film where average.

Garfield when announced I got excited for. As he looks like Peter Parker. So from a looks perspective, very happy. And I feel he can give us the dual character of spidey and peter.

Unlike Garfield, the thought of Shia does not appeal to me at all. If he was ever announced as spiderman one day, then I will reserve final judgement until I'd seen the film. Unlike you it seems.

Easy.

I wasn't on the internet when Tobey was announced and when I found out who was playing him, I didn't care because I was too young to care. When Andrew was announced, I was very happy and couldn't wait to see him as Peter because he has the perfect physique, skills and face.

Now, if SHIA was announced for the role of Spider-Man...I would literally boycott the movie. Nothing about him is right..besides the point he is a dude and sometimes I doubt that, too.

So, no Shia. Shia sucks. Take THAT to the bank, smoothbuddy.

This is one thing... I am not a major fan of the Raimi films. I find them quite bad to be honest, with the exception of some brilliant bits from the three films. But, people love them and hold them as the greatest comic films of all time, and that's fine. People can have different views.

I was a tad "meh" with AG, but his performance in The Social Network won me over.

Fair play. I just remember when he was announced, I thought superb choice. Then that first image of him, I thought, 'HELLS YEAH'.

fair enough about Tobey, as I wasn't even aware there was a Spider-Man movie at the time he was announced. Andrew on the other hand, I was quite pleasantly surprised when I heard him announced, I had only seen two of the movies he was in, Boy A and Social Network, so it was pretty simple to picture him as Spidey, I already knew he had the acting chops to pull it off (if you don't believe me you should watch Boy A and Never Let Me Go), I only had positive things to say about his casting.

Shia on the other hand, I am a fan of his and I do think he is a good actor, just not Peter Parker AKA Spider-Man. Plus if he was cast as a 15 yr old Parker, back in high school, the Even Stevens theme would be ringing round in my head all the time...not something i want to ever have to endure. :o

The thing I liked about the Spider-man 2 teaser was that it was light-hearted AND serious. Obviously we know that Spider-man 2 ended up not being that serious at all and had its fair share of camp...but based off that teaser its clear to see that you can be serious without being dark and gritty. The Empire Strikes Back is a perfect example of this. I thought that would be the direction the reboot was going.

Im still open to it though...after all I am on superherohype so I am going to watch it regardless. Its just not what I was looking forward to
