Why though? It's the widest audience movie this week I'm not saying it will b with that just wondering why it's such a doubt. The one big trailer I know will be with tintin is the hobbit

Mission Impossible 4 was in IMAX, right? Sony could have attached a trailer to that for TASM... especially considering TASM will be in IMAX. But Mission Impossible 4 wasn't in IMAX 3D and that moment has passed, which is why I VERY STRONGLY doubt it's going to be with the general release of Mission Impossible 4.

Tintin on the other hand? Wider/MUCH more appropriate audience for TASM and it's in IMAX 3D/3D/2D... and TASM will be in IMAX 3D/3D/2D too... hmm....

True I just think they're missing a huge chunk if they skip out on missin impossible. The dark knight prologue was ONLY attached to it this past week, now it'll just be a normal IMAX flick. Remember most trailers aren't in 3d even if the movies are. Again you could be right tho I just feel their best bet is with Ethan Hunt. And we disagree on tintin having a wider audience than mission impossible.

I don't think they're missing out on a huge chunk of the audience at all, imo.

And yep, most trailers aren't in 3D... but when they've got the chance to REALLY wow the audience by showing it in IMAX 3D (which is what it'll be showing in)... why would they choose normal 2D?

Hmm, you have a point.

The first TAS trailer was in 3D.

Exactly, it was with Captain America, wasn't it? Now, the 3D in Captain America was awful, imo... great movie though. But the fact that it was 3D (and had the ideal audience) is what prompted Sony to attach the trailer for TASM with it.

Yes. I saw it with Captain America. It was acutally one of the better Marvel movies.

I agree on the last part but we just disagree on tintin vs mission impossible. It's a franchise everyone knows has plenty of good buzz and is something everyone will want to see. Tintin can get the families but the single males and females, the groups of friends, the action junkies, the people who just want to see the next Tom cruise flick? I just think it has a much bigger audience. Tintin doesn't ring the same bells over here like mission impossible. But we shall see. As long as I see it I don't care how

I see what you're saying but that's scared business to me and it's the only big movie 4th of july weekend, people WILL spend money on it. It's traditionally the biggest box office weekend of the year. Maybe I'm wrong and that's cool but I just don't see it that way but that's not what I've been taught either

As I said, I'd normally agree with you on all counts, but this is a different situation. The potential highest grossing film is coming out 2 weeks after 4th of July weekend. That tradition goes out the window. The bottom line is a lot of people are going to have to make a choice to either see TASM right away and miss out on TDKR or not see TASM in favor of TDKR. You need scared business right now because that's exactly what they are, a business. As business needs to make money, and in order to maximize profits, they need to steal all the thunder they can from TDKR. In order to do that, they need to market around it. Again, normally I'd be against this tactic as you are, but TDKR is a different beast. It's going to make a billion easy, might even make 2 billion honestly. TASM can't **** around, they need to focus on stealing TDKRs thunder.

I can see why you'd think it'll be with Mission Impossible 4, as that movie is action packed... and will no doubt get the teens and adults in to watch it.

But while Mission Impossible 4 seems to be the obvious choice (in terms of y'know, genre... kinda) the reason why I don't think it'll be with that because it's still missing a very large part of TASM's audience... kids.

Mission Impossible 4: Teens, adults.

Tintin: Adults and their kids, along with possibly teenage brothers and sisters who get dragged along.

Not to mention the stuff I said about Tintin being in IMAX 3D.

Your guess is just as good as mine at this point, doesn't matter... we all win as long as we get the trailer this week. :oldrazz:

Um, I'm seeing both. Yeah...so, um, cool.

Am I supposed to be surprised that a user on a superherohype forum is seeing the two biggest CBMs of the year next year...?

I'm talking about general audiences.

I really doubt people are going to have to choose to see one or the other simply because they come out within a few weeks of each other. That's just silly. Spider-man sells. Batman sells. It's science.

That isn't the case at all. We're CBM fans of course we're going to see both. Average people don't go to the movies more than a few times a year, never mind twice in a few weeks. You're overestimating the popularity. Tickets are $10 most places now. With more than just yourself going, going to the movies can cost close to 50+ dollars these days. It's not silly at all. I had trouble finding someone to go see Captain America with this year because they, "Didn't want to spend the money". My brother didn't want to go see Mission Impossible because it was "too much money". I don't know how old you are and I'm not trying to insult you but when you have to spend your own money on movie tickets/concessions, etc. your perspective changes.

I understand money is tight for people. But it was Captain America. I like it but he's not exactly the icon of either Spidey or Bats. Both movies will make boatloads of money and people will see both especially those with kids.

And honestly why do we even care how much money the movie makes? Does it really matter? I guess we could say that the money depends on a sequel being made but Spidey sells. He always does. SM3 sucked massive wang but it outsold SM2, which is the better movie IMO. TAS will be quality and so will Bats. This next summer will be epic...three new superhero movies all within about a month of one another. Just awesome.

I agree, I don't care, I'm just explaining Sony's strategy here and from a business/marketing perspective, they're doing things right. As long as the movie is good, I'm perfectly satisfied.
