But Tyson made his debut about 5 years before Lewis. So they both couldn't have fought in the late 80's as that's when Lewis was just starting out. They are both of that era. The likes of Tyson, Lewis, Holyifield, Bowe, McCall etc.

And the Heavyweight division is still THE division in terms of the average boxing fan.

I guess I'm not explaining well, what I'm trying to say. :csad:
The problem is what you are explaining is just wrong. Like on what planet is the heavyweight division the most relevant? Have you just missed the money guys like Floyd, Oscar, Manny and Canelo have been making the last decade? Wlad can't even get on on PPV.

It is irrelevant what era Tyson and Lewis were from, because when they fight Tyson was 10 years, a biting incident, and prison term away from his best.

To the average boxing fan and non boxing fans the Heavyweight division is seen as the THE division and I'm not talking about the current status of the division but throughout it's history. It's seen as the main division in boxing.

You are talking in weird circles, that don't make a lick of sense. The main division in boxing is the one people care about watching. That is where ever the likes of Mayweather, Manny and Canelo are fight. It has been like that for a long time now.

The bold part's I agree with.

My point is to the average boxing fan and to none boxing fans the Heavyweight division is seen as #1 division. It carries prestige being THE Heavyweight champion of the world because of it's history. Now i know the current generation isn't anythnig special but that doesn't diminish the fact that if a superstar came along and was a heavyweight he'd be catapulted to the near top because of the division he's fighting in.

Does that make sense? If it doesn't just ignore me man because I'm clearly not explaining well, what I'm trying to say.

Fans of boxing and Avengers can hopefully find time for both. :csad:

I wonder how much this will impact the opening weekend of Age of Ultron.

Snap! But it shouldn't have to much of an effect on it. If it does, then the following weekend, AoU will dominate it as well. I plan on watching AoU that morning and then watching the fight that night. That's going to be one of the best days ever! :atp:

Especially if we get a Star Wars & BvS trailer with it!

I disagree, I really don't think the casual fan today cares about the heavyweight division, its history or the prestige it used to carry, DarthSkywalker is right in that casuals will tune in just to see the marquee names, the division those names reside in does not matter to the casual fan.

I kind of agree with Fallen Angel. Without the Heavyweight division, boxing is not the same, which is why people are really pulling hard for Wilder to be the real deal. You want that big bad guy, like Tyson and Ali were to be the champion. No disrespect to the Klits but they come off as foreign oafs. If Wilder can come how unify the belts(which won't happen unless the Klits retire)then watch how fast boxing rises again. I remember watching Wilder's fight against Stiverne and the feel was excitement, from not only my house but the internet was buzzing about it as well. And think about how dead that division has been but that one fight had that amount of buzz with little exposure.........Fallen Angel is right.

Man is it hard to cheer against GGG! Dude just seems so pleasant! But it's hard to listen to HBO commentators. When they have a fighter, they support him 100% and talk about him, no matter what.

Maybe I'm just being bias but or GGG isn't warmed up yet but..........eh we will see.

It's early in the fight but man it kind of shows what happens when GGG fights a boxer and not a brawler. Don't get me wrong, GGG is hurting dude and will probably KO him but there are glaring holes in GGG's fight game.

The way GGG cuts the ring off..........I use to think Ward would school him but now I'm not so sure. GGG's defense is suspect and he gets hit a lot but you have to worry about his offense. I have to see Ward fight again but I can see it as a 50/50 fight when I use to give GGG no chance at beating Ward.

Cutting off the ring isn't useful for an opponent who isn't trying to move. Ward would stay on top of him to neutralize his offense and rough him up on the inside. It's pretty much what he does to anyone with any power, he smothers them. GGG wouldn't know how to counteract that, and he's never been made to fight going backwards.

I have to see Ward fight again. Haven't seen him fight in years. But we will see.

You see how bias HBO is? Murray showing some signs of life in the last two rounds and is fighting back, unlike him getting his arse whooped the first 8 rounds but now HBO wants them to stop the fight. Don't want to take any chances with their cash cow who seems to get hit a lot.

Is that Ruslan Prodvodnikov? Dude in the ring looks just like him, just bigger.

No 160lb middleweight will beat Triple G. The guy needs' to test himself at 168 against bigger and tougher fighters.

I'm actually hoping Cotto gives up the belt instead of fighting this guy. Cotto has no chance, not because of boxing skills but because he is not a Middleweight. And for him to fight Bradley for the title is a joke. Just let GGG have the belts so he can go up in weight. Honestly, without Sergio, GGG has no one to fight in this division at all. It really died out fast.

People are pulling for Wilder because he is American and for some reason the thought of the championship not residing in America is unbearable to some. To call the Klitschkos 'foreign oafs' is doing them a huge disservice.

GGG whips Ward, there I said it, could be that Ward has been inactive for so long or the beer I'm drinking but whatever that's what I'm thinking right now

That's what I thought I said.
