Yeah, it wouldn't surprise me one bit.

The one that gets hurt from all of this (literally and figuratively) is Williams because he has arguably gone 1-3 since his fight with Winky two years ago and this 'win' only puts him back in title contention again against tougher opposition. Had he lost, maybe he would've reevaluated his career, his next opponent and possible new trainer.

Not good, especially he being a real classy, stand up guy who doesn't back down from anyone.

you guys check out the Marquez fight? strange KO and reaction from Ramos. i can't help but think he took a dive. JMM is a great boxer but he doesn't have one punch KO power.

Hi I'm so eager to watch Manny Pacquiao fight with Mayweather.. I'm so excited who will win.. I know my idol will always be the one who will win the fight Manny Pacquiao..

Hate to ask this but are you filipino? Just asking...........

I'm not sure who will win but it will be a very interesting fight to see a offensive fighter like Pacquiao fight a defensive specialist like Mayweather. I actually give Money Mayweather the slight edge.

lmao i'm filipino and even I'll admit that we are annoying fans. i'm american so i don't look up to him like a god like the Philippines does, so i'll also give Money the slight edge. but of course you can never count out Manny.

they just gotta get through Ortiz and Marquez first (which they should) and actually come to an agreement

They can hype the fight all they want, only until they and are both in the ring on the night of the fight that I will believe it is going to happen.

I think if it ever happens, Pacquiao would win. Why? Mosley in his late 30's almost knocked down Mayweather. If Mosley can nail him, why not Pacquiao? Pacman has the stamina to chase down Floyd all 12 rounds, he has the quickness and the angles in his punches to catch Floyd, and the power to knock out any welterweight out there. Floyd can try to counter, but his punches won't affect Pacman, so Pacman will continue to come forward. If Pacman can take Cotto and Margarito's hardest shots and not flinch, he can certainly take Floyd's punches who can't even knock down a bloated Juan Marquez.

Floyd is second best next to Pacman no doubt about it, but Pac has the power, the speed, the stamina, the chin, the side to side front to back movements to overwhelm Floyd. Floyd might win the early rounds (rounds 1-3), but he can't run forever, sooner or later, Pacman will catch him and knock him down. Floyd will stand up, but will run away from Pacman until the final bell rings like what Mosley did and Barrera did to Pacman in their second fight.

And I think Floyd knows this that is why he is doing everything in his power to avoid Pacman. I wish we go back to the days when the best fighters fight the best win or lose.

Miami almost beat Dallas. We all know how that ended up. :o

The chin? Pac's been knocked out twice and knocked down more than that. Floyd's never even been down, and he's faced stronger competition, I'm tired of this being misconstrued. All the welterweights Manny fought were past their prime & coming out of a war in most cases.

Floyd took bigger shots from Judah, Chop Chop Corley, & Manny Burton than he did from Mosley. He's shown he can take that, Manny's barely been hit by any of these slow, plodding welterweights he's fought.

Pacquiao throws punches too wild, he has no defense, & he's not as fast. Period. He looks fast when he's fighting guys that are slow lol, he never in his life fought anybody as fast as Zab Judah, let alone Floyd.

Pac's been knocked out at weights he has outgrowned. He was drained at those fights. And if you think Pac does not have defense, he wouldn't have lasted against the bigger fighters he has faced. Remember, Mosley almost knocked down Floyd, Pacman never was in trouble. I think youre confusing current pacman with the old 2 dimensional pacman. Floyd is better a defense, but to say that Pacman has no defense, i dont agree with that. Same with those who say Floyd does not have offense.

Here is a great article on Floyd's claims on Pacman.

http://sports.yahoo.com/box/news?slu..._careers092011

"Floyd Mayweather Jr. has repeatedly intimated that Manny Pacquiao’s rise through boxing’s weight classes is due to something other than natural growth. But the statistics do not back Mayweather’s contention. Mayweather is 21 months older than Pacquiao, but looking at what they weighed when they were the same age, they are remarkably close.
For the sake of the argument, let’s pick up the discussion for each man when they were 24. Mayweather turned 24 on Feb. 24, 2001. His first fight after that date was on May 26, 2001, in Grand Rapids, Mich., when he fought Carlos Hernandez. Mayweather weighed in for that bout at 130.

Pacquiao turned 24 on Dec. 17, 2002. His first fight after that date was on March 15, 2003, against Serikzhan Yeshmagambetov, in Manila. Pacquiao weighed 126, or only one class lighter than Mayweather.
When they were 26, Mayweather was at 134 and Pacquiao at 129 1/2. At 30, Mayweather was 150 to fight Oscar De La Hoya, while Pacquiao was 138 to face Ricky Hatton. Although, in Pacquiao’s bout prior to Hatton, he weighed 142 when he fought De La Hoya just 11 days before his 30th birthday.
By the time each man turned 32, they were both welterweights.
It’s not like there has been a great disparity in size between them.
Another argument Mayweather made last week in insinuating Pacquiao is using performance-enhancing drugs has been his dramatic improvement. At the post-fight news conference, Mayweather said, “Like I said before, we knew Sugar Ray Leonard [and] we knew he was great from his Olympic days. We knew he was going to be a great professional. Michael Jordan, from college, we knew he was going to be a great professional. Floyd Mayweather, from the beginning of his career, from the ’90s, we knew he was going to be a great professional.

“Look at all these different athletes. Kobe Bryant in high school, you knew he was going to be a great athlete. Now, you ask yourself, a fighter just don’t get 25 and all of a sudden become great. A fighter don’t just become 25 years old and pop out of nowhere. You know what? ‘I’m knocking junior middleweights out. I’m knocking middleweights out.’ That just don’t happen. That just don’t happen.”
That argument doesn’t hold water, either. Pacquiao won his first world title, the World Boxing Council flyweight belt, on April 24, 1999, when he was 20. Mayweather won his first belt, the WBC super featherweight title, by stopping Genaro Hernandez on Oct. 3, 1998, when he was 21.
By the time he was 26, Pacquiao had won world titles at flyweight and super bantamweight and drew in a spectacular bout with Juan Manuel Marquez for the featherweight title. Pacquiao had won the linear featherweight title by that point, when he defeated Marco Antonio Barrera a month before his 25th birthday, though he received no belt.
By the time Mayweather was 26, he had won two world titles, the WBC super featherweight and the WBC lightweight titles.
And Pacquiao’s rise in the last decade was aided tremendously by coming to the U.S. and hiring Freddie Roach to be his trainer.
The point is, Pacquiao’s rise to prominence does not on the surface raise suspicions that he’s used, or is using, performance-enhancing drugs.
I don’t believe Mayweather is afraid of Pacquiao, as so many Pacquiao sycophants insist. I do believe, however, that he despises Pacquiao promoter Bob Arum so much that he is willing to skip the fight in order to keep Arum from profiting from what would be the most lucrative fight in boxing history.
Hopefully, the fight happens because the prospect of it has the world captivated. So far, though, Mayweather’s arguments as to why it’s not happening are falling on deaf ears."

The writer says that Floyd is avoiding Pac to piss off Arum. I think Floyd is doing this cause he's afraid. He hasn't met anybody that can match his speed and has 3 times more power than he has. Pac's punches come from so many angles, he never gets tired, he has that in and out side to side movement that Floyd doesn't know how to shoulder roll his way out of this.

Anyway, here are some punch stats
Pac- 57 pct
Hatton- 23 pct

Floyd- 39 pct
Hatton- 17 pct

Pac- 38 pct
Oscar- 21 pct

Floyd- 43 pct
Oscar- 21 pct

Pac-31 pct
Mosley- 20 pct

Floyd- 44 pct
Mosley- 20 pct

Pac- 44 pct
Margarito- 28 pct

Floyd- 35
Ortiz- 18

Pac- 43 pct
Cotto- 29 pct

Floyd- 59 pct
Marquez- 12 pct

Pacquiao throws punches too wild? No defense? Give me a break. Manny is a 3 dimensional fighter now.

He is a wild puncher, just because he's connecting doesn't change that, he's hitting guys too slow, too beat up from too many wars, to really hit back. He would be extremely easy to find for Floyd, Clottey barely threw a punch the whole fight and was swelling Pacquiao's eye shut.

That article your citing is also failing to take into account the disparity between the fighters they both were facing during their rise to the top. You can't tell me anyone Manny fought during this time period was as good as Castillo, Baldomir, Corrales or Judah. I don't even know if he could've beat Manny Augustus or Corley at that time either.

Nobody Manny has faced, to date, were as fast, as polished, and as complete as those fighters were when Floyd fought them, this is just facts. And the closest one, Marquez, really should have been awarded two victories over the guy, I mean, c'mon!

Regarding the punch stats of recent fights I showed,

Manny's average landed punches: 43 pct
Manny's average defense (punches avoided): 24 pct

Floyd's average landed punches: 44 pct
Floyd's average defense (punches avoided): 18 pct

Not much of a difference isn't it? Considering the fact that Pac throws more punches than Floyd every fight, that is impressive accuracy and solid defense.

You remember Barrera and Morales? 2 future hall of famers? Much much greater than castillo (who beat floyd on their first fight) or corrales. And the Marquez that Pacman fought was a younger Marquez in his natural weight division. Not the older and bloated Marquez Floyd fought. Nobody expected Marquez to win that fight against Floyd cause he was bloated, and Mayweather, to have an even greater advantage on Marquez, added more pounds than the limit requires.

Anyway, got to get to work. Floyd is great, but only the 2nd greatest of his era. Manny Pacquiao is the greatest of this era. That could only change if they fight and Floyd wins.

Manny has fought and beaten more acclaimed fighters than Floyd. Barrera (2x), Morales (3x), Marquez (3x), De la Hoya, Cotto, Margarito, Mosley, Hatton. Has won 8 world titles in 8 different divisions.

Manny has better offensive weapons, but Floyd edges him out in defense.

Manny fights with honor and serves his people, Floyd fights for money. He curses his dad in live television, accused of beating up a woman, poking security guards in their faces, and burns a 100 dollar bill.

In and out of the ring, Manny has accomplished more.

Erik Morales? Sure I remember, he beat Pacquiao too, even toying with him in the final round lol.

And the same bloated Marquez Floyd fought is the same one Manny's about to fight, so if he wins, don't make a big deal out of it either, because at his natural weight, he was robbed twice against Pacquiao.

I know your not talking about added pounds either. Baldomir & De la Hoya weighed about 170 pounds for their "welterweight" fight with Floyd.

Bottomline is, to people that really know boxing (and I'm sure you wouldn't call Teddy Atlas a fool) Pacquiao has way more to prove than Floyd.

You know what pisses me off? When somebody says that somebody does not know something because he has a different opinion. Its good to argue your point but to say that you really don't know boxing if you think that Manny is greater than Floyd. I just don't agree with it. Same with the fanboys. I love Golden Age Superman if you don't you really don't like Superman. It's crazy.

Anyway, for Morales, he beat the hell out of him in their 2nd and 3rd match. As for Marquez-Pacman III, I dont like it. Winning over Marquez wont prove a thing for Pacman. Winning against Ortiz or Bradley wont do anything either. They just have to face each other. If it's not a blowout, then they can have a rematch.

I feel the same way, when referring to fantasy things like comics. But in sports, things are a little more, factual.

I really feel, (and not just me, like I said, Teddy Atlas is probably the only analyst being neutral, he's also one of the few with actual fight experience, go figure) that Mayweather is a definitive class above Pacquiao.

I have nothing against Manny, I watch his fights, they're exciting, I think he's a very good fighter. But like I said before, there's a huge chasm between fighting & boxing, I think Mayweather is clearly, or at least should be to people that watch both of them fight objectively, the better boxer. By a wide margin. I don't mean to come off the wrong way, I just honestly am flabbergasted at the amount of people that really think Manny is a better boxer. Astounded actually.

It makes me feel like perhaps they haven't really been a boxing fan a long time, at least not following and watching Floyd's fights since the mid-90's. I also feel that most of these "fans" just like Manny because they hate Floyd so much, nothing more. Because even boxing analysts weren't touting Pacquiao's career until he faced De la Hoya, so I know 95% of his fans, at least in America, had no idea who this guy was in 2005, let alone 1998.

I never said in my whole life that Manny is a better boxer than Floyd. I know boxing and fighting is different. Hell, my favorite boxers are those who methodically break apart their opponents (Pep, Locche, Whitaker are some of my favorites). Floyd is 100 percent a better boxer. But if they fight, I believe Manny will win despite Floyd's greater boxing skills. Why? Manny is just too overwhelming, with stamina speed and power and angles in his punches that you don't see often. His defense isn't bad either. If Floyd was able to carry his power from lightweight (he was a beast in lightweight) to welterweight, Manny loses hands down. But I just don't see Floyd hurting Pac, which will enable Pac to continue his overwhelming style.

Sometimes being the better boxer isn't a guarantee to winning (just ask Marciano). And Pac's speed power and offensive skills will overwhelm Floyd. If Floyd goes toe to toe, he will go down. IMO of course. But to those who say that Floyd would win, I respect and understand their opinions.

Anyway, i love Floyd. He's annoying as hell, but a fine boxer, an all-time great, but Pacquiao is greater. One dominates their opponents thru offense, one thru defense. They have to fight now or never.

About Teddy Atlas, he predicted every big Pacquiao fight incorrectly. I don't trust him.

Fair enough

Eh.............I understand why people don't like Mayweather but let's be real, Pacquio hasn't done anything the past 2 or 3 years. Everyone he has fought has been past their prime or Mayweather beat them so badly that he then wanted them but I can guarantee you Pacquio won't get in the ring with Ortiz because I can actually see Ortiz beating him since Pac has actually lost fights(and thanks to the judges of his JMM fights, he got 2 gifts)but it pisses me off when people just harp on Mayweather when Pacquio is actually fighting worse fighters than Mayweather but yet Mayweather is the bad guy?! Let Pacquio do Olympic style drug testing and then I'll back him, which he just agreed to to do but..............I will believe it when I see it. Mayweather is undefeated but yet he's not even ranked in p4p fighters?! Are you kidding me?!

And good for Mayweather to tell off Merchant! My gawd it sickened me to watch a Mayweather fight and instead of hearing fair and unbiased commentary, all you heard was his constant hating and bashing of Mayweather. If you don't like the guy why would you want to call his fights?! Call someone else's fights! :argh:

I agree with 99% of this.
