I disagree about saving Brainiac for the 2nd film..this film is all or nothing for WB. They better bring everything and the kitchen sink.
introducing Brainiac would be a great way to inject some Sci-fi elements into a Superman movie ( he is an alien after all ).
If it was up to me, I'd probably mix Earth One's assasination of Krpton/ Invasion and search for it's last survivor story with Birthright's framing story. But instead of Tyrell, use the Krpytonian originated Braniac concept from the animated series/JLU. Then you could throw Luthor into the mix with him trying to frame Kal El by using the media to portray him as a Braniac scout. But instead it was Luthor who by activating the Kryptonian ship which bore Superman to Earth, was able to contact Braniac and inform him that the last Krpytonian was on Earth. Luthor tries to bargain with Braniac to give him sole control of Earth in exchange for Kal El. Luthor of course gets short changed by Braniac and then in the third act is instrumental in helping to defeat him.
Whaa??? He's often portrayed as a muscle bound man...but that's besides the point. Javier played one of the most menacing villains in recent history, not because he looks like a boxer but because his facial features and expressions made for a creepy, intimidating bad guy. i don't think Brainiac needs a "neutral" look. i think he should look like an alien...Bardem is cool, but too rough looking for Brainiac. Bardem looks more like a boxer. I think it calls for a more "neutral" look here. like with Reeves. He almost looks sexless sometimes.
yeah...i doubt he'd even take a role like this, but he's a quality actor who i'd just love to see in the role.Javier has too many things going on with him right now. Though not signed, he may consider Dark Tower or the next James Bond film
But he's a good choice.
someone proposed that, if Brainiac were in this movie (and we compared it to Batman Begins) Lex would be Falcone, Zod would be Scarecrow, and Brainiac would be Ra's Al Ghul......which to me would seem pretty logical.I'm just curious to see if they'll go down the Brainiac route. I say this because with Goyer (and Nolan), they're including the likes of Bane and Catwoman into Dark Knight Rises. Now I know it's a sequel but even with Batman Begins, they had enough under their sleeve(s) to make the first film eventful.
I just can't see Goyer and Nolan deciding to keep it basic and just use Luthor (with Krypotian tech or whatever..ala Birthright) or Zod. Especially if they claim that this Superman will be fresh and different.
