The official brainiac casting

it would be kind of cool to have Keanu Reeves play Brainiac, as that would be a role reversal of sorts from his Neo character in the Matrix movies.

I disagree about saving Brainiac for the 2nd film..this film is all or nothing for WB. They better bring everything and the kitchen sink.

maybe in the first movie, superman is to deal / fight with the technology of Brainiac / kryptonian? doomsday like of robot/creature. not one but dozens!

Villains should be secondary in the 1st movie. but to have them to draw bigger crowd. Superman should be the main focus.

AND NO MORE KRYPTONITE!!! PLSSS!!!

I wanna see superman truly supes this time!!!

We all do, so they better throw him in the ring with someone decent. So yeah, he would have to go up against BrainIACs minions, because I dont think BrainIAC himself should throw the punches.
So as you suggested here would be a nice oportunity to introduce Doomsday. As a henchman/minion of BrainIACs. Just for the action.

I think for the next movie, they really need to do something different than "just Lex" as the villain.

Lex should still be a villain, but they need to start introducing OTHER CHARACTERS from the Superman mythos.

I mean, think about it, in the 5 Superman films we've had, the only other "comic book" villains we've had besides Lex were Zod and co.

introducing Brainiac would be a great way to inject some Sci-fi elements into a Superman movie ( he is an alien after all ).

I think this time they will bring the action and lots of it, including a fight(s) with a supervillain that is hopefully Brainiac.

I can see it going down like this.
Lex ( Lex-corp Lex) and intergang.
Brainiac.

Exactly. I want this reboot to have more sci-fi elements and adding BrainIAC would also take the story back to Krypton and connect hero and villain in a bigger picture.

So, Lex and Intergang (and possibly the people of Metropolis). BrainIAC and then Doomsday for the action.

Yep, one-villain superhero-movies are history.

If it was up to me, I'd probably mix Earth One's assasination of Krpton/ Invasion and search for it's last survivor story with Birthright's framing story. But instead of Tyrell, use the Krpytonian originated Braniac concept from the animated series/JLU. Then you could throw Luthor into the mix with him trying to frame Kal El by using the media to portray him as a Braniac scout. But instead it was Luthor who by activating the Kryptonian ship which bore Superman to Earth, was able to contact Braniac and inform him that the last Krpytonian was on Earth. Luthor tries to bargain with Braniac to give him sole control of Earth in exchange for Kal El. Luthor of course gets short changed by Braniac and then in the third act is instrumental in helping to defeat him.

This is a role an actor could have a lot of fun with, just a few suggestions -

Christoph Waltz
Luke Goss
Mads Mikkelsen
Karel Roden
Viggo Mortensen
Adrien Brody

I dunno. It might not be that interesting to play a cold and emotionless computer. You cant show too much range. I would hate to see BrainIAC getting humanized with coy remarks and so on. He HAS to be distant and cold.
Reeves pretty much did it with his Klaatu.

Yep, even better. That's a way to do Brainiac. Hell, just get crudup back then.

nice. and the interaction with the people is crucial too. make the audience as part of the people! mmm... i don't know what i'm saying. :D

i'd like to see Javier Bardem as Brainiac...

JavierBardem-1.jpg

Bardem is cool, but too rough looking for Brainiac. Bardem looks more like a boxer. I think it calls for a more "neutral" look here. like with Reeves. He almost looks sexless sometimes.

Javier has too many things going on with him right now. Though not signed, he may consider Dark Tower or the next James Bond film

But he's a good choice.

I'm just curious to see if they'll go down the Brainiac route. I say this because with Goyer (and Nolan), they're including the likes of Bane and Catwoman into Dark Knight Rises. Now I know it's a sequel but even with Batman Begins, they had enough under their sleeve(s) to make the first film eventful.

I just can't see Goyer and Nolan deciding to keep it basic and just use Luthor (with Krypotian tech or whatever..ala Birthright) or Zod. Especially if they claim that this Superman will be fresh and different.

Just have Luthor as that villain with good publicity and Braniac as the threat that the people assume both he and Superman are aiming to defeat, only with Lex having his own ulterior motives for it. He gets to look like a better hero than Superman, and also may get to keep some of Braniac's technology for his own use.

Whaa??? He's often portrayed as a muscle bound man...but that's besides the point. Javier played one of the most menacing villains in recent history, not because he looks like a boxer but because his facial features and expressions made for a creepy, intimidating bad guy. i don't think Brainiac needs a "neutral" look. i think he should look like an alien...

yeah...i doubt he'd even take a role like this, but he's a quality actor who i'd just love to see in the role.

someone proposed that, if Brainiac were in this movie (and we compared it to Batman Begins) Lex would be Falcone, Zod would be Scarecrow, and Brainiac would be Ra's Al Ghul......which to me would seem pretty logical.

I was talking about Reeves who sometimes comes off as very "alien"(neither male or female) in his appearance.
But to each his own.

I could live with that comparison.

jude law is another I could see working.

With the casting of Cavill making me feel like dream ideas CAN come true, my idea for Braniac has always been this:

Braniac should be played by the same actor who plays Jor-El. Storyline wise, this would be a ploy be Braniac too mess with Superman's mind emotionally. I would also show Braniac in both TAS robot form and green skinned alien form.

I keep seeing posters say Luthor should be the Falcone of this film. NO, NO, NO, NO, and a cup of NO. The smartest thing to do here is have take the Joker route with Luthor. Luthor should be an invisible villian in this film just like he is in the public eye. Mentioned only by name, as well as a LexCorp name drop. This creates anticipation for Lex in the sequel while giving him a rest in the now and allowing for complete focus on Braniac or whatever villian is used. This is a smart story and business decision. Imagine the casting hype for the character in the sequel, just like with the Joker. Luthor could be in every film from that point forward. Just find someone who doesn't OD on pills like Heath Ledger.

As for this film's Falcone. Two words, Morgan Edge!

Morgan edge would be great..i've been suggesting Ian McShane for him from the start.
