The official brainiac casting

My shortlist of actors for the role of Braniac in no particular order:

1. Viggo Mortensen
2. Jason Isaacs
3. Matthew Goode
4. Ralph Fiennes
5. Mads Mikkelsen

Great list, ya know Matthew Goode would be really good, He has that creepy robotic look that I think is perfect for Brainiac. Be funny if he did end up been Braniac after nearly landing Superman.

I think it would be cool if Jackie Earl Haley is cast as Brainiac.

I think Brainiac should be a robot, not the green dude we see in the comics. And he should be entirely CG.

I don't want the 'Terminator' version unless it's his final form.

I seriously want Matthew Goode for Brainiac now

I think Brainiac should be human form machine. He would look like an alien robot, but human formed. Like the comic. Cold and calculating. But all his creations...the extensions of him would be more machine like.

i wouldn't want a robot. i don't want Superman's potentially most dangerous foe to be a supercomputer or anything. i could certainly live with him being a cyborg or some sort...but i think it would be pretty lame for Superman's biggest threat to be made out of a bunch of circuits. at the very least his head or brain should be organic.

I'd like Brainiac to have several drones, all androids, for superman to take out, but Brainiac himself, the main one, should be a blend of organics and robotics.

But that's what brainiac is...a super advanced sentient computer. He shouldn't be organic. They can make him LOOK somewhat organic...but make it known he's a machine in appearance. It doesn't have to be overt or anything...but you should look at Brainiac and instantly realize he's not human.

Agreed

This graphic novel does it best:

ah...i didn't realize that. well, since i haven't read many comics involving Brainiac, i'm a little more forgiving with changes to his character. however, i guess i wouldn't be upset if they are faithful and make him a droid. it's just the idea of a computer being able to kill Superman brings flashbacks of Superman 3 *shivers*

no, no, no....you guys have got the visual all wrong!! if Brainiac is supposed to be an alien sentient robot, then he should look like this...

i'm joking btw...

pttf. I love Spacey but he wouldn't do it. Besides, it's weird to have an actor from Superman Returns to come back to its reboot and then play another character.

And we've GOT to have the 3 dot/triangle symbol. :D

Just my preference, but i'd like Brianiac to be from Krypton. Have him Very alien/android looking in appearance, with a kind of frail feel/look to him...but, he would be just as powerful, maybe even moreso, than superman.

That's why I think it's a shame we used him in a subpar effort as Lex.

He's be spot on casting for just about any character, as he is one of the best actors of this generation. But--the interpretation of Lex that was used in Superman Returns didn't allow him to achieve greatness. There were glimpses of it, and had he been able to do the modern Lex he could have nailed it, no doubt.

It's just a shame that a man who can pull off the detachedness and coldness that is required from Brainiac as well as a chilling, unnerving voice was already used by the last creative team. He could have been perfect for the role of Brainiac in a new film.

Though, without Singer's involvement he wouldn't have agreed to a Superman film at all...

Oh, what could have been...
