Not sure if WB is all that happy about it. They will when the DVDs finally hit.

Has anybody bought the TV rights yet?

i think they are happy that they are the studio that made teh watchmen movie.

if they are not happy with the numbers then **** again their own fault.

again there is a formula to make a movie for the masses. you dont experiement . you just use the formula.

Next time, close out the porn you have open before posting a comment on here. :hehe:

I'm sure it will be FX.

That what I'm thinking too. After all, FX showed both Batman Begins & Superman Returns for the first time on channels you don't pay extra for like HBO or Showtime (And no, it's not you I'm refering to there :p).

Look, I am a big Trekkie. Without wanting to alienate the core fan base myself, I'll say it's a group you want to have close and be open to at all times. But if you make a good movie that's entertaining, a lot of hard-core fans will see the movie anyway. That audience will still appreciate it.
Can't disagree with that.

I don't want to take any importance away from the fanboys, but it's about making a good movie and then marketing the hell out of it. If you do that, the fans will come up to meet you.
It's too bad that he didn't make a good movie.

Ha.

He made a movie for the Donner fanbase without realizing there wasn't one...

there are plenty of donner fanbases. just that most of them don't appreciate his twisted/wicked interpetation.

There is not enough to reach out to at this point. He felt the general public's collective recognition of the character was based in the Donnerverse when it wasn't. Do you think there are little boys with posters of Christopher Reeve in their room at this point? No.

It was about 15 yrs to late for a film based off the Donnerverse.

looks to me that SR made the donner fanboys go away. because if i remember very good months before SR people were very happy that it was connected with the donner movies

It seemed more like a rush to me. Before SR was announced, most people didn't even consider the possibility. When Singer said Returns would be connected to the Donner films, suddenly nostalgia kicked in and that became an option and when it was done, half of them went away.

... And the other half still thinks the Donnerverse is relevant to this day and they make damn sure we hear it.

I bet Bryan singar has one in his room.

For all the stereotyping of fanboys as being a bunch of whiners and nitpickers, I've found a lot of them (on this site anyway) to be fairly tolerant of change as long as it looks like it could be cool. I think a certain trust of the director and a "wait-and-see" attitude is pretty prevalent on these boards before a movie comes out.

I liked that it was connected to the Donner verse. I was just completely disappointed they didn't change the bad aspects of that movie like Lois smoking, Luthor and made him like the comics.

It wasn't a continuation of the Donner movies. It was scene by scene the goddamn movie and too much references. Plus all this Christ thing, Son, Superman behaving out of character just made it less appealing...

But things really started to derail when i found out there wouldn't be a Return to Krypton scene. The whole movie...its not that is THAT BAD...its just a HUGE MISSED OPORTUNITY.

It indeed was a missed chance. It was a totally different film before the editing butchered the bejeebus out of it....

Still, with no supervillain, I doubt even a better edit would have helped it much.

I agree there was alot of things singer could have done to make a better film. Hopefully when/if we ever get another film in the next few years, the next people in charge take all the things that fans didnt like about SR and dont fall into the same mistakes singer made(most people opinions).

I think they already know all that. The trick now is to find the right director.

I agree. He should have realized that and went with something more recent like DCAU or something.

Singer and any director handling any comic book proprerty should know the comics and hire people who know more than one characterization of the character and make an amalgamation of all eras.

He just foccused on the Donner, never read a Superman comic in his life and that why we got the lame ass version of Luthor from the movies with his stupid plots to get land. I could not keep myself from laughing when Luthor was explaining his "great" plan to Lois in SR. It was just utterly ridiculous and people didn't take it seriously at all. Add that to Spacey cartoonesque portrayal and we get another missed oportunity. Even Smallvile, i show i utterly despise when I watch almost every episode, has a better portrayal.

So you think little kids have posters on their walls of that version of Superman? :cwink:

The Donner Superman is still the most popular and recognizable version of the character there is to the masses. Going by the BO and reviews, I think they liked the film enough to warrant an action-packed sequel featuring a new supervillain. Done right and marketed well, like Singer says, I'm pretty sure it'd have done better business than SR. But that's me. Now, everyone tell me how wrong I am. lol
