First Avenger The Official Captain America Critic's Review Thread - Part 2

Could it be that I didn't see those posts? Because I didn't. I was still back on the other page prior to seeing those posts. You want to talk about disrepect? Jeez man, there was absolutely nothing wrong with what was in my post, and you just deleted it. The points that Godman made that I was replying too were not even trolling points, they were actually good points, that had a good reply, granted, not all of his posts have been that way. I'll ask again, please put it back. The points I was making about the Captain America movie have come up here quite often, and they are points that many people seem to be forgetting. I can understand moderating trolling posts off the thread, but I can't see deleting posts that had good points.

I understand what you're saying, and see your side of it, but if that was the case you probably should have posted it separately as a statement rather than a response. Granted you might have been still writing it and posted it after all of the moderating went down, but continuing to bait a troll is just as bad as the trolling itself.

Let's just move on.

Seems like a lot of censoring follows this movie around.

I didn't see that many of the dudes posts so I can't say for sure but to ban a guy for not liking a movie, even wanting to hate it? I've seen worse go down in other film threads.

moving on I suppose.

Dude, the guy is a pro.

If I get a movie that's like the love child of The Rocketeer and Raiders of the Lost Ark I'm pretty sure I'll love it like it's my first born. Doesn't even have to be perfect.

And from what I've heard from some of the top critics, it has the pulpy cornball feel of the 40's that I've been dying to see again on screen.
This.

You didn't see his posts. So you can't really comment can you?

Just let it rest, peterparker0077.

I am, just a little tough when you stop your day to take the time write out a response to an actual good point, even it that point came from a troll. If I just wouldn't of quoted him, then the post would still be there. That's time in my day that is now waste, and a good point and response that is now gone that actually added to this thread.

I moderate a local forum, and one thing I've learnt from it is that when you engage a troll you'd better be prepared to see a lot of your time go to waste.

Difference here.. my time did not go to waste because I was going back and forth arguing with a troll over stupid nonsense... my time was wasted because my post, which I spent my time on for a good response and addition to this thread, was removed by a mod.

But you quoted his post did you not? I can see where the mods are coming from totally. When I remove any trolling posts, I have to remove all quoted versions too as sooner or later someone will read it and the whole row will start back up again. Leave no trail.

It's unfortunate as it means genuine posts like yours sometimes suffer for it, but heyho - that's life. It's a good reason to hit the report button and report anything that smells like trolling as soon as you see it rather than responding in any way.

@Rock.

I assume that wasn't a question lol but I'll answer anyway.

I seen some, but I ignored them.
I think he would have been better served starting a thread and titled it "scenes that made you go uhhh" or something and perhaps find other people that felt the same way as he did so they could collective break down the movie, whilst it's defenders could counter argue...not everyone has the foresight I suppose.

I have a feeling he's still lurking so perhaps he can digest on that for a while. The mods said stop talking about him and so for the sake of my pending ban I'm moving on.

The post I quoted actually had some good points, as I already stated, and it added to this topic, though most of his posts were trolling in nature. But I do understand.

Actually with all talk of pro-America films these days, I was expecting a lot more talk of politics in these forums.

And comparing Red Skull to say George Bush isn't so far from the mark if you ask my simple Canadian self.

Does the film have anything to say about political issues the critics have been kinda mum on that front.

Hunter Rider was nice enough to send me back my post, very cool. So I'll reword it a bit.

It seems as if I've been seeing a lot of the critics who bash the film, do so because the Character of Captain America is not "troubled" or does not have "internal conflict" or does not have a dark side to him. That Capt is too one dimensional and Skull is too one dimensional as an evil guy. They feel that everything needs to be shades of grey.

Sometimes, there is just black and white, pure good against pure evil. Captain America embodies pure good, which is why I prefer to him to others heroes, and this does not make him one dimensional. Captain America does not let those shades of grey even slip in because that just is not him, it's not his style, it's not what he likes or wants. That is much more admirable than the jaded hero that has become all too common place in today's society. Red Skull, like the real life Hitler, was pure evil. Anyone who wants to kill masses of people, is pure evil. Sometimes black is black, and white is white. And I prefer to look up to and strive to be the white hero, not the grey one. (and don't even try to say that's a racist statement... i Know someone will try it, lol)

Nice veiled shot at me Marv ..... in reference to my T3 thread. Except for the fact that nowhere in that thread do I make assanine comments like Godman did. Comments like "I didn't know who to root for, the Skull or Cap" ..... I mean please. Stop insulting everyone's intelligence here.

Nice bleeding heart routine you're sporting these days.

I saw a few of Godman's posts earlier. They went beyond just hating on the film.

Guys lets stop talking about Godman and get back to the movie.

Where is Cap on the RT meter now?

Ya, you're right .... George Bush was hell bent on wiping out an entire country with a bomb.

Please refrain from stirring up political nonsense on here Marv.

Not really, but Skull has an amazing line that may have passed over a lot of people.

He says something along the lines of:
Arrogance is not a trait usually attributed to Americans, but you display it loudly. .. That's a paraphrase, can't remember it totally.

I hope this lines sinks in with a lot of modern day Americans. Because This is how Americans were considered back in the 40s, but all too many Americans today are quite arrogant. I know plenty myself, and although they are in the minority of our population, they make the majority look bad.
