The new costume i think is the most closer to SUPERMAN myth.the old costume was nice, but was looking like a cheap suit maker in thailand made it.and the shorts was ridicilous.i expect a great movie, the movie that SUPERMAN deserves.the old movies was awful for me,except the first one, offcourse. They have the money, they have the actors, they have the technology, come on,shake our world, and give us the movie we was waiting from when we learn about Supes.

HOW? What myth? There has been many interpretations of the myth. which myth are you talking about?

the old costume was nice, but was looking like a cheap suit maker in thailand made it.

how? which costume are you refering to. Are you refering to the generic costume (w/ trunks) or the Christoper Reeve's costume?

and the shorts was ridicilous.

how? why? The red trunks was perfect to break all the blue.......... now he looks like a naked guy, w/ a cape, wearing a belly ring and waist bracelet.

No, the trunks are an archaic way to break up the blue. There is better ways to do that now that we are not in the 1930s.

I admit though that they haven't really accomplished that with this design. The blue isn't broken up enough.

Yeah, it'd work better if the belt were thicker.

MARK MY WORDS

The costume will be a laughing stock w/o trunks after the movie comes out.

The general public, who knows nothing about the lawsuit, The New 52, nor Superherohype, will just not get it.

The general public will not give a ****. They won't be going "Oh, where is his trunks! This is lame!".

You can't be serious.

no, they won't complain that there is no trunks, they are going to make fun of it.

I posted a video earlier of people's first reactions to the costume. It's not me interviewing these people, but you get the point

Even if you are partially right, the moment he stops a train, flips a truck, shoots down a missile from the sky with his eyes or something like that, the general public will just ****. They don't care for much past the entertainment factor of a film, and there is no doubt in my mind that this will be one VERY entertaining and gripping film.

They are going to make fun of a guy who DOESN'T wear what amounts to red y-fronts outside his tights?

ok.

The public has been laughing at the trunks since the 1980s. The reaction, and it already has begun, is "FINALLY!!!!! Finally a cool Superman suit!"

What video? Those cosplayers who would complain about anything if a camera's there just to sound intelligent? Those cosplayers whose very costumes don't hold a candle to Snyder's Super-suit? I thought you said 'people' as in 'common viewer.'

when do you think we will get another official shot of the costume?

So you know the entire "public" do you? Here are the reactions I've had when I've shown the new suit to "the public".
1. Generally: "Where are the trunks? He looked better with the trunks."
2. From a few fanboys who'd previously slagged the trunks: "At least they've got rid of the underwear but that looks horrible."
3. From a few others: outright laughter.

Unlike you I don't profess to know what "the public" thinks but these are the opinions of a few of my friends and contacts.

Nothing better than watching someone eat their words down the line.

IIRC, there was some similar criticism aimed at the Batman (89) costume because it made some drastic changes to what people 'perceived' as the Batman look (the skintight and grey outfit), based primarily on what they had seen in the 60s TV show and subsequent Batman comics. And look how that turned out - the very dark, armoured and padded Batman suit has become the norm in Batman movies now, and it works very well.

I don't know anyone amongst my friends who hasn't been impressed by the new Superman outfit. Not one of them has even mentioned the trunks, or lack of. If you think the entire public are going to be 'laughing' at the new suit, you're going to be very mistaken. It's about time Superman got a modern look, the films and TV shows have been trading off the Donner look for too long now.

no offense but your delusional if you think that no one will say superman looks ******ed without the trunks on. most of us grew up watching superman in the 70's-80's. people will definitely notice.

heck even superman in the smallville finale had the trunks on.

i agree 100% and i totally hate the new suit myself. nothing about this remake has "win" written all over it!

What Superman is the series finale of Smallville? It was CGIMan!LOL!

it doesn't matter, it was still superman. superman returns had a ton of cgi too, was he also not superman to you?

some of you need to accept the fact that some do not like the suit redo.

the trunks can really make or break the movie.:o not the storyline.:o nope!:o

if this movie tanks, you can kiss sups goodbye on the big screen. a remake is not always a good thing. a black perry, a red headed lois, no lex, zod AGAIN... should i go on?

Superman Return's Superman? You mean that Superman that only lift things?LOL! and tom welling did not actually wear the superman suit!

is that your goal to bash every incarnation of superman that we have come to love?

yeah IF it tanks! Advice to you: DON"T Watch the movie if you already prejudged it and damned it. Simple as that.:word:

ill reserve full judgement when i see a trailer, which is probably a good year away from now! im just simply stating that some of us are not happy with the direction the remake is going. you guys need to accept that.

Exactly!! As a Batman fan, I only wish Nolan and his predecessors would try so hard to keep their designs as faithful to the source material as Snyder and company are. Yes, there are some changes with the MOS suit, but there are obviously trying to base the suit in the comics as much as possible while creating an original take that fits their creative vision. Things could be a lot worse. Look at Robocop Batman!! ...and The Dark Knight is still considered an amazing Batman film and possibly the greatest superhero film of all time. Just saying...

It's fine to not like the suit, but making ridiculous arguments about mainstream acceptance and the attitudes of the general audience is pointless and doomed to fail. Anyone who posts here is obviously a pop culture/comic book nerd and, thus, has little understanding of mainstream attitudes. The very fact that we are invested in the character changes things. No matter what, our own beliefs, biases, and upbringing as fans pervert our perceptions. I could cite the fact that my friends and schoolmates tend not to be Superman fans and they have generally expressed the belief that Superman needs an update and that the trunks are "lame." (not that I agree with them) Nevertheless, like the anecdotal evidence of anyone here, that is not a representative sample. My friends and acquaintances are generally under 30 and probably do not have the same attachment to the character as older people who grew up when Superman was far more popular in mainstream society.

The trailer is often produced by the disbritutor, who has nothing to do in the production.

that's why trailer sometimes seems to have no connection to the plot of the movie...
