It's a great manip, my only criticism is I think the cape is wayyyyyyyy too long. It should be ending at the most by his ankles. Otherwise we will all have to get used to Superman walking along, tripping on the cape, falling over, getting up, wiping the mud off his face, looking embarrassed, walking along, tripping on.... Well you know what I mean. :yay:

Still a great manip though. Well done.

It's accurate, though...the cape (unfortunately) IS that long on the actual costume.

Good manip, BTW.

Thanks. As titansupes said, the cape IS represented as dragging on the ground so far from what we've seen. Maybe the movie will be different. We'll see.

I've never been a fan of the extra long cape, just for that reason. It dragging on the ground picking up crud looks stupid.

Likely they will try to avoid us seeing like that too much on the screen in the movie.

Some folks insist on it because it "looks regal", but I see it as impractical and looking stupid if its dragging on the ground.

I can just see it in the dirty snow mush in the winter, with all the salt and sand the city puts out to keep the traction on the roads. Superman flying around with a layer of crud stuck to the bottom portion of his cape.

Not to mention frayed strings from the friction of being dragged, and the missing chunks where it got stuck in doors etc...

How regal. :oldrazz:

It's a movie so you won't see him flying around with crud on his cape -- just like you won't see people discovering his secret identity, which is clearly obvious behind a pair of glasses.

i don't think it will be a standard consistent height. i bet changes with the scenes and his actions, to make it more dramatic and elegant. i bet this scene will be followed by a shot from inside the house looking out, with just his sillouette, and light surrounding him, and his cape draped all the way to the ground.

Say what ever you wanna say guys, but I think the cape looks awesome.

Agreed. The longer cape also gives the impression of him being taller much in the same way that longer pants do (as opposed to high water).

are cloaks impractical because they drag on the ground and get dirty? what about wedding dresses? lol

Capes are about as practical or impractical as trunks.

found this on deviant-art , i would have toned down on the junk a little but technically its a good manip but the red i feel makes his bulge stand out

Very well said.

We most probably are going to see Superman trying to go to the bathroom and having problems because a suit without a zipper is impractical.

Uhm.... Unless...

i think the extra long cape is very striking and will offer some very dramatic scenes with it blowing in the wind

Snyder is the first director ever to get the cape right. The long cape dragging on the ground gives Superman a Darth Vaderesque aura - intimidating (at least from behind). That is the right look, and it completely eliminates the 'silly factor' that previous costumes had (actually the front of the costume also eliminates the silly factor, and brings in the cool factor). Mission accomplished Snyder.

The MOS suit is indeed the first one to get the cape attachment right. This is the first time we'll see the cape simply attach at the front and not around the entirety of the collar.

I hope we get a classic shot like this:

Now, regardless of what you think of his work as a writer, I think even Kurosawa will admit that John Byrne drew a pretty damn good Superman.
