Your skills far surpass mine, Zionite... But I can't imagine this suit ever in a Superman movie... Laced boots? And everything else...
rainingcrow said:ok, but the design was made in the days when boxers and wrestlers wore small shorts or underwear essentially over their tights to avoid their packages showing. ( "boxer shorts" )Modesty and all that being what it was.
If you look back at the artwork artistically you'll notice that the attire actually became tighter as the years progressed. The shorts turned into skibbies then to something that now resembles a speedo. The boots were originally made to resemble mens riding boots...
In a cultural irony, our superheros wearing tights became the norm, but in those sports where the shorts on the outside was once a practice...(thus inspiring this strange fashion lenience) now we have progressed to basically nothing but the shorts...except in "pro" wrestling where the idea is now to try to look like either a super hero or villain.
point is that times change, and a design that made sense back then due to a cultural context, no longer makes sense when that cultural context has all but vanished. Its not like the undies on the outside was a kryptonian thing. It was a fit in with earth thing...
I mean NO ONE has ever looked good with undies on the outside, and males in tights have particular... lets say moose knuckle problems unless they're wearing a cup or something. CK grew up bailing hay and driving fence posts... comfort and ease of movement is important to the job, and clothing always affects the confidence when you leave the house. Beyond the tights and the undies, the choice to replace the riding boots was that modern day work boots work just as well without looking like he shopped at an antique boutique.
My take was to keep the super appearance, but look at it from the Clark Kent perspective... alien raised as a farmboy... a modern farmboy, who has only ever shown an interest in girls.
the face was actually created using a combination of the facial markers from several different people.
tom welling
christopher reeves
john hamm
dean cain
brandon routh
So to me, this is the ultimate face of superman.
*new note* I just Discovered an actor I didnt include who really looks the part of this composite. Its uncanny. [link to Cavill picture]
yeah...not digging that design at all. don't like his justification for it either...
on top of that, his face is kinda creepy...probably because he based it on these people
then he had the nerve to compare it to Cavill...
Actually its not mine.I just posted it from deviant art to see Fan rections-predictable.Your skills far surpass mine, Zionite... But I can't imagine this suit ever in a Superman movie... Laced boots? And everything else...

It is without a doubt the best Trunkless design ever
As far as trunkless goes I agree with you. It puts me in mind of the Superman clone of the 41 Century and I loved that one. First no cape no trunks that had me at Hello.

Not what I'd want but if they did I wouldn't be too pfft
and that's probably my favorite non-trunks costume.
You raise an interesting piont. If Superman gets a new costume in the comics,No one would complain if thats what we got eventually in MOS.Smart strategyMine too.
I hope that is the big surprise Lee and Johns have in store for us.
Superman needs an updated costume.
You could make Superman a floating green bagel in the comics and nobody would complain. Well, I'm sure SOME would, but you know how things are, if it happened in the comics first, it's official and good to go.
The series caught hell becuse It was crappily written."Big **** save lives" my ass.i seem to recall a recent tv series starring Wonder woman that caught hell because she was wearing a costume that was in the comics before...granted it looked silly but still
