All of the symbols from 1948 onward (minus the Kingdom Come symbol) are the same symbol, just drawn by different artists. That's like saying Superman actually gains and loses weight on a regular basis because some artists draw him more muscular than others.

For the most part, but there are minor variations.

I would say its like two chefs using the same ingredients , there will be obvious differences but the base will be the same, it's like iron chef

Yeah, I've never been a fan of the Fleischer design either.

I know it's not the traditional look, but I've always loved the Fleischer design. It's just personal preference for me because the traditional design has to much yellow for my taste. The only clothing I own that features the color yellow is Superman and Steeler related stuff. It's odd that my favorite football team wears my least favorite color lol.

Thanks for the feedback!
It seems a little bland to me. It's a bunch of blue with a red S-shield and cape. I think that some yellow/gold on the background on the shield and maybe the belt/waistband, with red boots would help that a lot. Maybe even add the red trunks too, with a lot of small details to catch the eye. Can anyone make a photo manip of that?
Which might be an interesting look for Superman.
I think that the black touches you are describing depends upon the shade of red being used. If the red is too dark, then it may blend in to the black background.

No, the black in the logo and on the belt of the Fleischer uniform are black, not red shaded dark. There are other versions with really dark red that look black, like Bruce Timm's original version of his animated Superman. Personally though I would love black trunks because I like that look. as I said, the black in the logo and belt add an interesting look to my eyes.

I wasn't saying that the black was red, I was saying that a darker red for the S might not stand out against the black background.
As for black trunks, no thank you. That is Batman's thing, and it wouldn't look right on Superman in live action.

Nite-Owl's manip begs to differ, he rendered the trunk like the DCAU version and it looked extremely good, and something I could see Snyder going for.

The DCAU version doesn't wear black trunks either, it's just a strange lighting effect that I have never.. ever understood.

Not to be picky:cwink:....but the Fleischer belt is not black. It was red. In the first released cartoon it was the same hue as the trunks, in those that followed a lighter one.

Really? Coulda swore I saw it as black, maybe it was black in some of them? Oh well, I like it with a black belt ... like "It's Superman."

And just where can we see Bruce Timm's original Superman design?

I say use Fleischer's design

and the colors from L&C or TAS:

It's red............and tho it's arguable(due in part I believe to the age of the prints) the background of the chest sheild may in fact be a dark blue. If you watch "The Mechanical Monsters" short it's pretty clearly a dark navy blue.

First promo image of Timm's Superman that showed up in comics starting about 6 months before the show came out. Notice he's much taller, thinner, and wearing black (or dark red if you wanna interpret it that way) trunks. It qwas also used for a cover for one of the comic tie ins, can't remember the exact one though, it wasnt the first issue of the Superman Adventures comic though because I've got that on my shelf here.

Well, I haven't seen the picture of which you speak. Could you please show me?

Agree. It doesn't make sense because effect's not seen on any other portion of the costume.

In my opinion, I think that would look tremendously crappy to be honest.
No offence!

It's just an S, the best part about the Supes symbol is that it's actually only perceived as an S by the people when in fact it's an entirely different symbol.
Using a normal everyday S would look cheap and nowhere near as inspiring in my view.
It needs to be a symbol for the Earth's protector, not a reminder of the alphabet.

I don't like the colour scheme personally.
But that's basically all thats changed, the symbol is the same as the modern Supes one, it's only the diamond shape is separated.

You actually did the opposite of your idea lol
You said use Fleischer's design with Animated series colours,
But you used a kind of Superman Returns design and gave it fleischers colours :p

It's the first manip I found which reflected a "modern" S drawn with Flesicher's style

That Superman design just looks weird with black trunks.

i, too, think it looks weird. if it had a red highlight instead of a gray one then it would be less weird, but Superman has traditionally has no black on outfit...so why should he start now?
