Quickly grab Lois and shield her from an explosion, use his body to absorb the shock and the cape for the fire

And I like how bunk did his cape attachment

That looks good! Thank you for posting that picture!

What you mean to say is, that it (CR's) looks exactly like it does in the comics. As we are talking opinions, mine is that Dean Cain's did not look as good (actually DC's whole suit didn't look as good imo) as the STM one. Just stating personal preference here. Btw not knocking Dean Cain, as I really like the first two seasons of L&C. IIRC, Seasons 3 and 4 pretty much sucked though.

What I meant to say is that Christopher Reeve's Superman cape 'S' looks bad. It's flat and boring.

Snyder is definitely not doing something traditional-- I don't even expect a cape.

What makes you say that?

Yeah I knew what you meant lol. So I guess the way he's drawn in the comics is boring, because Reeve's cape was a faithful representation of how Curt Swan drew it. You see flat and boring, I see Simple, elegant, authentic and Classic. To put it another way... Perfect. If however as you suggested, it turns out to be a yellow shield with a red background in M.O.S, I won't cry. They just need to make sure it is there.

I think the problem with showing a cartoon of a costume is that its not really anything to go by at all besides the basic ideas that are shown. Its always an unrealistic body type, the color palette is suited for a cartoon, their is no hinting at the texture or any hint at what the material on the body is like, but we can see his muscles through the suit.

Am I the only one who thinks that BUNK and SAINT are 2 gentlemen that need to go to Hollywood and be at the production and costume helms of every Hollywood superhero flick?

I think not!

If they want classic:

Agreed.

Ok, this right here is plain disgusting. If we ever got anything like this I would have to SERIOUSLY consider even watching the movie.
Snyder had better not pull any **** like this, he's making a movie about Superman, not someone who, in this particular image, doesn't even resemble him.
I'm expecting a traditional suit with updated materials, anything less and he's already F'ed up what is for me the deciding factor at this point.

Firstly, that grey suit? Take it over to Silver Surfer, it does not belong here. It's Zack Snyder, if he can he will go 100% faithful. Of we will get 90% faithful with Zack's spin, like Watchmen. As for the cape, it doesn't need to be explained why it doesn't come off the suit, they don't explain how Batsy's cape stays attached to his costume, even the cape goes entirely rigid. And they should use inverse colours for the cape, because:

It looks good on posters

And distances the film from other continuities.

I don't think that's supposed to be a suit I think it's just to show his version of the s

Which is weird cause he should just post the S AND if that is the costume......

....no thanks. That look belongs to STEEL and even on him it's meh

Im sorry but if we get something like that then its not SUPERMAN why even make the movie?
Superman is too Iconic to change esp. that dramatic. SR proves that.
A lot of people myself included were not happy with the SR suit.
A slight change here and there can make a differance either way.

It looks like Michelangelo's Superman lol.

Nice Miracleman approach there.

I think that might be very close indeed.....but with a red cape.

I strongly believe that as long as Cavill's costume bears the iconic 'S' shield and includes a red cape, it will be instantly recognizable as Superman by the average person.

If you guys can read anything from that "grey suit" then i think you need to get your imagination checked out.

There is nothing at all that implies he is even wearing any clothes. Is it a full body suit including mask and hair cover?

Is it all one big joke that im not getting?

Still don't like it

The look of being metallic is not a good look for him it's too (no pun intended) alien and might even come across frightening and unapproachable plus wouldn't the reflective surface of the suit prevent him from absorbing sunlight there by robbing him of his powers

This is the problem with posting pictures that are actually manips. Everyone *****s all over you.

Superman's suit isn't that hard. Trunks, cape, belt, boots and a unitard. Is it that hard to actually come up with a decent, respectful design?

STOP OVERTHINKING!

Here is the ideal suit for the new Superman, I got it from the Burton thread on another folder.

That, fanboys, is the PERFECT costume!
I hope this is something like what they are aiming at.
Ain't it just awesome? :yay:

I might be more sold on that suit if the model didn't have such a goofy looking face.

It's from Superman: Flyby; it would be ironic if they decided to use that old design since Cavill auditioned for that film as well. That's how fans know him from.

Not really, no.

I like the colours. I like the shield.

But I hate the whole Schumacher style faux armour thing. It's pretty bland as well. Once you get past the shield its all bluuuuuuuuuuueeeeee.

Boring.

No thanks makes me think of batman forever metallic suits

Actually they do in the Batman films. It has clasps. I don't see why it would be too much to show the cape being attached.

And they should use inverse colours for the cape, because:

I agree.

I agree. While you (referring to artists) you can reinterpret these details and add additional ones, they should be present.

From the waist up, maybe. But from the waist down it's just a sea of blue. I can understand getting rid of the red waist, but are red boots too much ask for? Maybe the belt?

Not really, no.

Agree. If you are gonna get rid of the trunks, at least keep the waistband/belt. And why remove the red boots?

not every superhero needs to be in armor

not every superhero needs to be in armor

I agree. I'm fine with Batman having the armor look, but that's because he's human and has no superpowers, so he uses body armor to compensate and protect himself. This doesn't apply to Superman, because he is nigh-invulnerable. That said, it looks more like a muscle-suit than body armor.
