Let's hope that's the only reason you'll be upset.

I really believe we will get something awesome and traditional. I think it will be a much more simplistic design than what a lot of people are proposing .

I think we just need to see a man again in the suit and we will understand the power of the original suit.

What makes you say that? Doesn't that mean that Superman is doomed to be deemed an outdated relic of a bygone era, no longer relevant to our society?

Quite the opposite... I actually think Superman and his look is still good and relevant... There's an innocence and nostalgic majesty to it, IMO.

And I was also referring to fans in general. People for the most part won't accept modernizing of Superman. Look at the long hair and Electro Superman :woot:

We've spent the last 20 years trying to make Superman relevant, and it's done nothing for his popularity. Just tell good stories. That's all he needs.

people say i am a nice happy go lucky and most people wouldnt mess with me.
this pic was taken just Monday night

Changed the shield and made some tweaks

Something like this for the boots.

As i have said before i want an Earth made suit so i think if he is going to be doing all the hard work he is going to need something proper on his feet.

@Alien Anal

I started off with those kind of boots with my manip. The problem is it's too short, so I made them taller. I later added straps because the laces alone looks a little odd and dated as some have commented.

If they go the combat boot route I'd rather have the ones with straps instead of laces.

I was not directing my idea towards your concept Fanboii in case that is how you took it.

I dont really see how laces could seem dated.

However i do enjoy your picture. I personally miss the trunks.
I get a sort of 1950s film noir sort of vibe from your costume. Is that what you are going for?

@Alien Anal

Ah, thanks. I didn't mean for it to look that way. Maybe it's because of the background and the colors are subdued. I was hoping the design looked modern :P

I think also maybe its the look of the fabric. I actually like that it looks like you put time into creating a proper looking texture on the suit. It sort of reminds me of the old George Reeves costume.

I want something in between this

and this

fanboii, loving the cape and the shield. if he had trunks, i'd say it's almost perfect!

Something like this for the boots.

i know Superman is superstrong, but the problem i have with these types of boots is the same problem i have with boxer-type briefs. they look heavy, clunky and retro. if the suit is to be updated then it should look sleek. imo, something like this would be best (without the laces, of couse)...

@Man of Tomorrow

Thank YOU! lol, that's about the best comment I could get. A good no undies design is my main goal.

@Alien Anal

Yeah, I like a thick cloth looking material a lot. It looks more friendly to me.

@DorkyFresh

That's a really good idea for the boots.

I can see how they would come across as clunky but these are military boots.. they are designed to be used in difficult situations. And even though you said it.. he is super strong..and heavy boots wouldn't be a problem for a man who shifts planets :P

Does anyone know the artist that has drawn Supermans boots with laces and a "real" looking suit. Im thinking it was Lee Bermejo?

military looking boots aren't so much of a functional problem (as we've already stated that Superman has super strength) but more of a visual problem. again, they LOOK clunky and retro and they've already expressed that they want to make a contemporary film.

as for anyone drawing Superman's boots with laces...i can't think of any. Lee Bermejo drew his boots with the traditional design, just with a leather look to them.

problem i have with the boots is that they have to handle really destructive conditions so his boots should be so ridged and overbuilt that it would be impossible for a normal human to move there feet in them and would be walking like frankenstein not to mention being like 15 pounds per boot

So would you want something more like a military boot or are you more for an alien costume?

Something more like this but higher?

Even if they went with a retro look, I don't want to see boots with laces. That's going too far I think.

Is earth an earth made costume considered retro? or did you mean if they go for a 1950s type feel?

The problem I have with the laces is they make them look like wrestling boots.

As in referencing an older time period, yes. Using boots like that would actually go beyond simply referencing and come across more like period clothing.

Didn't L&K go the "lace up" boots route?

I can understand that comparison. I think what i like about that look though is they feel like something a man that has traveled the world would wear.

I just don't know where you would get something like this. Not that i want to see Superman going into every store and buying each piece individually.

plus i cant imagine seeing those sort of boots scuffed and dirty. They don't feel very masculine to me.

this is BASICALLY what i'd like to see...

...of course, i'd like to see something more customized...but i like that they look sleek and sporty.
