the belt may be yellow, but why shade it red?

I'd say it's a red belt with the yellow being a highlight coming from the glow of GL, similar to the green/yellow underlighting on his left arm

You may be right! So Jim Lee says sqrew yellow and gold basically with it's new suits for Superman and WonderWoman

it would be very unwise for the movie to match this marketing ploy from the comics. first off, the general audience is very clear on what supermans suit looks like, they will not be comfortable with something different. secondly, this new relaunch suit has not been tested. it may very well fail (and i hope it does), and then the movie will look just as foolish and dated.

To tell you the truth, I don't think the general audience will care or be uncomfortable with something different. General audience people will probably just be like "Hey, Superman looks different...I think. Oh well, it doesn't matter. I'm not here because of the suit anyway." Fanboys will be up in arms, though.

i think the general audience will definitely have an opinion, and i think that opinion would be a preference for the classic costume that they know and are comfortable with. though, that opinion obviously wouldnt be as strong as comic fans. but they're coming to the movie to see superman. if they arent given a superman they are instantly familiar with, it will definitely impact their decision to come to the movie.

I'm still offended about the fact that Jim Lee forgot to draw a damn ring.

'In Brightest Day...oh wait no ring.'

Personally Jim Lee's newer stuff is always impressive and the suit's going in the right direction. I'm sure every artist will draw it slightly differently but it looks good.

Would be good if Bruce's suit goes more tech based in the reboot of continuity.

I went with the same color as the pic. Also we have established that the belt is, so far, Red too.
But we don't know what the boots will look like, which is why I didn't draw them.

Yeah, I mean the general audience was really upset by the black rubber suit in Batman '89.

Seriously, Burton's Batman design was a far bigger departure than the new Superman costume.

you're giving waaaay too much credit to the general audience. keep in mind, they're the ones responsible for garbage like "the hangover 2" and "pirates 4". a different superman suit won't make a lick of difference to them.

After seing the Hi-res pic, here's where I stand. Let's also keep thinking that the boots will stay the same.

Awful (the suit design, not your artwork), the collar is absolutely disgusting and the lack of red under the belt looks terrible, and would still look equally wrong if the belt were red.

Luckily, I don't think the suit in MOS will look anything like this, thankfully.

Personally I effin hate that new Superman suit. My biggest feat is that it may be indicative of the suit from the movie, and that this new ridiculous suit will actually stay for good in the comics. Damn how I hate these unnecessary changes.

regardless that i disagree that burtons batman design was a bigger departure. batman's suit lends itself to more flexible design aesthetics than superman's suit does.
