The Official Darkseid Thread

I feel that a Superman film is below Darkseid. Justice League is the way to go for his use.

With the way a lot of people are reacting at the news of a Justice League movie, I'd think it's the exact opposite, hippie_hunter. Besides, we're talking about Superman, the first superhero. Darkseid's not above that. :oldrazz:

Brainiac as the main villain in M.O.S., but with a strong hint of Darkseid at the end to either set up J.L. or the 3rd Superman film.

agreed, but if MOS makes big bucks i dont see wb scrapping a third to make a JLA film right away

ya know...I kinda agree. Darkseid is Galactus territory. Darkseid is bigger than just one character, one story. Way to complicated and it would require a major big screen presentation ($$$$$) to get all that encompasses Darkseid right.

I would love to see it, but as with Galactus: do it right or not at all. Frankly, I just don't see it happening. Darkseid would be a huge undertaking without scaling the character back big time.

Well, in my opinion, Darkseid should be far more powerful than Superman. Far more strategic and smarter than Dr. Doom. He's a freaking god for crying out loud. He should be used in a Justice League film.

He needs more setup.....I agree with the JL idea. He would be a great villain for the League to face.

I would like to see Darkseid in a film, I do agree even he might be a bit to much for just Supes to take on, So if they ever did a Justice movie he would seem almost like a shoe in for the villian, and if that so Michael Clarke Duncan would be perfect he has a awesome voice plus he is a big guy, And I know some would say he is not tall enough well easy fix there remember how they made him look huge in the Green Mile?! There you go.

That's what I was thinking. Even throw a hint of him in TDK, don't show him but just throw a small bone that fanboys will know what it is about.

Sure, eventually I would love to see Darkseid, instead of Lex Luthor a million more times as a head villain. I'd also like seeing Doomsday, Brainiac, and Bizarro in a Supes film. And I don't think Mr. Mxyptzlk is a good on-screen villain for a Supes film, but he is one of Supes most toughest villians. Maybe they could make him work, but I doubt we'll ever see it.

I'd love to see Darkseid on the big screen. If I had my druthers, though, it'd be in JLA. Mainly because I'd want his supporting cast of villains as foils for the League. It would be one hell of a sight to see Darkseid built to scale and looking like the ultimate tough guy zappin' foos with his Omega Effect.

Have you ever read "Whatever happened to the man of tomorrow?" The great Alan Moore made the joke Mr Mxyzptlk into the most dangerous Superman villain ever.

Darkseid can be done in one film. His IMPACT, like in the comics, should be felt through multiple films if he's a JLA villain, but he doesn't require massive setup to work well. It's not a complex story. It just involves putting the following elements in the script/onscreen.

Darkseid, his power, goals and motivations
Darkseid's minions (Desaad, Kalibak, Parademons, etc)
Apokolips, and its history with New Genesis
Darkseid's plot
Orion if you want to see him involved.

Always thought Dennis Haysbert has a great voice and facial shape for Darkseid if done right.

You all might think this sounds a bit wierd, but I have always thought that Randy Couture looks alot like Darkseid. If I had to pick a non-actor who looks alot like Darkseid I'd say it's Randy Couture. He's got the roughed up face, and the build, the only thing is his height and his voice. They can always make him look huge like they did with John Malkovich in 'Of Mice and Men'.

Dream casting for me ever since I saw "Now and Again"

I think he's perfect for it ala Hellboy style (CGI not needed imo for Darkseid)

Dude :wow: , i made a thread in the JL forum over at TP and said the EXACT same thing

Yeah it could really work well... But how often do they listen to us small time fans? :-/

i thought Hellboy loooked awful, definately CGI needed

Lets see if Darkseid sends Kalibak to destroy Superman and he will capture him and make him prisoner to his home of Apokolips. First of all Darkseid makes Kal-El a slave and gets beaten up by Kalibak. And throws him a dungeon to one of hungriest pets. Superman sees one of Darkseid's Gigantic beasts coming up to him and ready to eat him for dinner. Superman grabs a bone while he is grabbed by the clutches to the monster's hungry jaws.

This scene would be awesome for Darkseid:

uh, wow.. he is a bastard.. it would be a great scene to include..

as far as actors.. ooh.. if they can convince Haysbert, fine..
other options:

Lawrence Fishburne
Michael Clarke Duncan
