The Official Detective Comics Thread

Alfred is the man, its too bad Morrison's gona kill him off, bastard.

So um, this issue completely kicked ass! Paul Dini is a master at crafting Batman stories, this was everything you'd want from a proper finale: big battle, character development, a reasonable resolution, and a great epilogue. This is way better than Batman RIP.

I don't care what anyne says, this was the best issue. ever. Like, not just Tec but any comics issue ever. Seriuosly, an actually GOOD Hush backstory, the T-Rex actually DOES something, we get to see the Tumbler, 89, animated and Forever mobiles, Whily-FREAKIN-Bat action, Alfred kicking arse, Bruce confessing his love for Selina (and totaly doing her :oldrazz:) and the best revenge ever coordinated. Like I said, best issue ever :woot:

Agreed. This is perhaps one of the best Batman(generally) comics i've read in a long while. Dini's run has been nothing but awesome, but with this arc, he reached a higher level. This arc has just been AMAZINGLY good. I don't own any of the tpbs of Dini's work, as i didn't think all of the stories were so good to buy again, but i plan to definitely buy "The Heart Of Hush" hardcover(if there is one, which i think there will be) when it comes out. The hospital scene with Selina was so emotional. It's not often you see Bruce like that. Damn.

It kinda pisses me off, because if there is anyone right now who should be killing Bruce Wayne off, it's Paul Dini and NOT Grant Morrison. Right now, no matter who good the RIP arc is, it will never be better than Heart of Hush, without a doubt.

Paul Dini keeps making small plotholes if you ask me, even tho Bruce Wayne admits his love to Catwoman, it completely ****s up the whole point of Jezebel Jet which Dini seems to ignore as much as he ignored Wayno Manor being destroyed when he wrote Deadshot for Batman: Gotham Knight. -.-

Just another attempt to shoehorn them together for "iconic" reasons. So much love yet they could never have any real relationship at all. Right.

So, is this not canon? If it is, Bruce seems to be in love with pretty much everybody these days. And don't forget Zee's trying to get in his pants, too.

Also it really annoys me, and no i'm not nitpicking here but why is Bruce really okay with letting Hush die? Paul Dini made the "return of the hush" canon and there Bruce was just a total dick and now this. :P

There was no plot-hole, Batman said basically to her that while others like Jezebel and Zatanna may jump into his life every so often, it will always be her who stole his heart (Which by the way, I found to be awesomely sly of Dini to take a shot at Morrison's nonsense).

Oh, and Dini didn't write Deadshot, Alan Burnett did.

Hush returns is a little inexcusable I admit, but Batman wasn't okay with Hush dying. HAD he died without Bruce killing him he'd be happy just like with the Joker, but the Gyrocopter exploded and there's not much you can do to save a man who head is wrapped round the propeller mount.

Dude, Drz, come on man, HOW many times have we seen batman battle a foe and then suddenly the place starts to explode, and Batman makes a narrow escape while leaving the bad guy in the explosion? Does that make him a murderer? No. Batman just chooses not to save them because the bad guys are the ones who created these situations in the first place. If they die its their own faulty not Batman's.

True enough. :P And atlesst we know Hush is making a comeback facing off againts Catwoman. (:

Oh and i thought it was Paul Dini and not Alan Burnett, my bad. :(

Great issue. My only problem is that Dini completely ignored the fact that Bruce is dating Jezebel Jet. Granted that I like Bruce with Selina a whole lot more and never really cared for Jezebel, I would like to see some god damn connectivity between the two Batman titles.

This is what bothered me most...the end seemed tacked on, really, for the reasons you've said. Honestly, looking at comic history and not what fanboys want, the case for talia and silver st. cloud can be made when it deals with Batman's greatest love interests. compared to those two, selina and bruces relationship dosent hold water, imo. Selina and Bruce are just good flirtation, and their relationship's overrated

Brilliant conclusion to this storyline. The best thing to come out of this lousy R.I.P. storyline.

I only wish Hush had died. I think they've done all they can do with the character now. His death in this arc would have been a fitting closure to him. But you just know someone will bring him back with another scheme to infiltrate Bruce's life, and another b*tching session from Tommy about how Bruce screwed him over.

I'm actually glad Dini didn't kill him off, its a popular trend nowadays for writers to kill off characters at the end of an arc only to have them resurrected later in the most nonsensical way. At least this way when Hush does come back there wont be any explanation needed as to why and how he's alive.

Nah the next story Hush is in is about him vs. Catwoman, and if Catwoman does finish Hush off, that would make her more of a bad guy once again.

yeahman, this issue and this arc has absolutely Owned GM and his limp little RIP stunt- good characterization, good backstory, the dino rockin out, alfred whuppin ass, no lame 'revelations', and yeah, that's funny, hadn't thought of how he was, but yeah, he's slappin GM with the selena 'look, i'm a horndog, i hit the booty that's in front of me but you're the Dealio' speech- good stuff- This was Worth the 4$

People People Heart of Hush was amazing but R.I.P hasn't even ended and both of these stories aren't ending fully yet. :/ I'd rather wait over a week and see R.I.P ending before making judgements.
