Sequels The Official Electro in Spider-Man 4 thread!

I want to see Electro in Spider-Man 5... but not 4.

The costume would certainly be an interesting thing to tackle. I imagine it'd be really hard to please people with whatever you do, because you COULDN'T make it even close to the comics or it'd be ridiculous. I mean, I love the character, and I think the costume is ridiculous, even in the context of the comics, let alone the movie.

The updated costume Max wore in the Millar's MK Spider-Man run is one that might possibly slide by up there on the silver screen. I could see that. Personally, I would prefer to see Electro in full costume (maybe due to Dillon's arrogance, he makes a costume to in some ways compete with Spidey, even if merely on a publicity level), and if that does ultimately prove to be the case, it should also be conveyed to the audience that Dillon has an inferiority complex, and any jabs Spidey makes towards his duds, instantly throws Max into a fit of rage that makes him even more unpredictable and dangerous. Something like that.

They could give him sleeveless coveralls and make him have a giant lightning bolt tattoo on each arm.

Any chance you could post a pic of that updated costume? :yay:

Sure. :)

It's not dramatically different from the usual, but it is a more up-to-date look that doesnt dramatically alter his original costume like what we saw with the horrid blue costume John Byrne tried to pass off during the late 90's.

If you ask me, they're going to do the same thing to Electro that they did to Green Goblin II/New Gobline - completely revamp his entire look to something we haven't seen before.

Take away the mask, put in a light colored heard (ala MTV and Ultimate) and you've got an updated Electro costume. The main detractor in translation is that lightning bolt mask.

I guess you could sort of adapt his goofy costume... as long as you give a thorough explanation of why he has it. He can't just "have it." It would have to be a conscious effort on his part, much like Peter Parker designing his costume in Spider-Man 1. And it would have to explain his motives for making a costume.

If you were going to have the costume, you could approach it two ways:

A.) As someone mentioned, have him wear a goofy costume, which gets him made fun of, and he designs a better looking one afterwards; or...

B.) You have him sort of adapt to using the powers, and near maybe two-thirds of the way through the movie, he makes a conscious decision to take on the role of being a supervillain, and a direct adversary to Spider-Man, and designs a costume to go with it.

Or, since he's so insecure, you could have him being manipulated into using his powers for evil for most of the movie by Roderick Kingsley. Of course, Roderick Kingsley is a fashion designer, so you basically have Kingsley push him along into supervillainy, including giving him a costume he designed himself.

Thanks! Well from what I can tell it's certainly not as extreme as the original version. Still not sure this could work on screen though.

I gotta say at the moment i'm leaning towards the Ultimate look. When he's powered up.

If they ever do a Sinister Six, Electro is a MUST!

Electro got my vote for future Spidey movies, in my opinion he's an amazing villain.

No problem.

Although I like Max's new duds in Millar's MK Spider-Man run, it's not definate it could translate well onto the silver screen if it's decided to keep the old costume look. Although I believe it's most definately a step in the right direction. And something that should be looked into if at all possible. I like the Ultimate look alright, but I grew up a fan of the original obviously.

Doc Ock speaks the truth. :word:

Sure he should return for Spider-Man: Sinister Six. Along with Ock and Sandman. But first we need to see him in SM4!

How, pray tell, do you plan to explain why Doc Ock and Sandman decided to join a supervillain team? Did you watch the end of the last two movies?

No thank you :o

There's just no acceptable way to make that fish bowl work on the big screen.

Oh sure there is. You just have to be creative with it. Mysterio, as far as Spidey villains go, has both the lowest floor and the highest ceiling. In other words, he would either work spectacularly well, and be the most creative, engaging villain in the series, or he could fail miserably, and essentially be a dude with no powers and a fishbowl on his head.

From what I understand, Raimi is definately open to the idea of Doc Ock returning in a future sequel. As I remember Doc Ock himself having a link to an interview where Raimi says that Otto actually did not bite the big one at the end of Spider-Man 2, but rather, disappeared. The fact that there was a paper up on Jamesons wall with the headline, "Doc Ock still at Large" certainly hints at this. With Sandman, his family could be used as a bargining measure, then of course have him turn on the other members at some point in the film. As we have already seen in the funnybooks.

Well, it's been stated that Doc Ock didn't really die at the end of SM2. According to Raimi he just "disappeared".

Sandman's still out there somewhere.

My bet would be Ock forms the Sinister Six and manipulates Sandman (through his Daughter) into joining. Something quite similar to that actually happened in the comics.

I'm afraid you'll have to call me narrow minded at this point. Because I just can't ever see anyone in that costume being taken seriously as a threat (on screen). And to me Mysterio is that costume. The thearticality of it, it makes the character.

Don't get me wrong I love the character in the comics. But in the movies, I just don't see it working.

I didn't say he'd be good for film. (Though he would, IMHO.) But you asked "But who else can top the visual spectacle of Sandman?" The anwer to that question would be Mysterio. :)

Oh! Well then yes it would :)

You know, someone really should start a Mysterio thread :p

I can buy Doc Ock still being alive... but still being evil? Wasn't that kind of settled at the end of Spider-Man 2 when he said "I will not die a monster?" And the Sandman storyline was more or less resolved with the conversation Peter and Sandman had. It would seem a little ridiculous and contradictory to have him turn to crime again, even after that.

I think Electro can be a pretty challenging villain, if well-handled, if you put him travelling through wires, messing up with machines and stuff. But please, not the yellow lighting costume, it´s one of the silliest villain costumes in comics.
