What the hell do you guys do to your Ps2's to break them so much? Do you rape them?

Mine has been working perfectly for like 6 years now

I've been wondering that too. I got mine the day they came out, and it has always worked fine. The weird art is that it seems most people are either one their first one still, or on like their 4th, which makes me think that it is just the way the system is handled or where it is placed that is really the problem.

lol...Mine has been working fine as well. I only get 2 DREs with Virtua Fighter 4 Evolution and MGS2S, but other than those, my PS2 works fine after 5 years

My year 1 PS2 is working fine aside from not playing movie DVDs or PS1 games. But all things equal it was a suprisingly early model when I looked it up. It boggles the mind how some people say they're on their 4th PS2...

Which, were we to go by your little judement here makes you worse then you're viewing me as. I was perfectly happy to leave well enough alone, I'm not the one who acused anyone who says they're still on their first PS2 as being a lying biased fanboy. OK, so if you didn't aim that Xbot comment at me, still doesn't change the fact that I'm on my 3rd PS2. And my post was intended to shed some light on the sheer coincidence about the fact that even though it's pretty much common knowledge that the PS2 hardware blows ass in terms of longevity, none of the PS2s belonging to Sony fanboys, I mean none have ever had any problems whatsoever, even after "years" of constant use. A little too convenient, doncha think?

Only difference being the point that you're a self-proclaimed, shameless bastion of Sony on this board whereas I'm more even-handed (with slight favoritism towards the 360 because of it's better games) compared to you. So no, I'm not "worse" than you in any way possible.

I promise mine is genuinely still working fine, and it's a launch PS2. It's been yanked off my desk a good few times when I've tangled a controller around my leg. The only time my PS2 struggles is when playing certain, older blue PS2 discs, in which case I have to tilt the PS2 around until the disc is read. Tekken Tag Tournament is a pain in the ass for that. Other than that though, my PS2 chugs along fine.

And meh, just to moan again, I want FFXII now.

maybe they are fans of Sony bc their systems work! I swear Ive had my PS2 for 5 years and only ever have a problem with 2 games and thats probably my own fault bc I have used Swap Magic in the past and I hear that bad media can affect your laser.

I'm a little worried about picking up this FF. I've kinda been cursed when it comes to Final Fantasy. Having played...borrowed...urm...procured FF7, 8 and 10 I've never seen a single one thru to the end. Yes I've considered the very likely possibility that I am a sucky gamer but aside from FF I tend to breeze through other RPGs pretty comfortably (Suikoden, Star Ocean, Valkyrie Profile etc....) also I've read that this FF's style resembles a game called Vagrant Story. Never played it so I'm a little reluctant. Is it easy to pick up or will it be problemati for a player like me?

Any system can be picked up given a proper chance. After Final Fantasy, the break system in Xenosaga Episode II was pretty alien to me, but I eventually got used to it. FFXII is a little more difficult than previous games, but you'll pick it up.

I remember how difficult I found junctioning in FFVIII at first, but before long it was second nature.
