The Official Flash thread - Part 1

no, why does she have to die...why can't she just fade into obscurity?

because then there's a chance some writer 30 years from now will try to bring her back because of some deluded fetish to return comic books to the way they were when they were a kid.

of course, they can still do that if she dies. but that way, we get the satisfaction of seeing her die in the first place.

She's not offensive at all, however. She's just not Iris.

Maybe they could just be friends...and actually be friends. Like adults.

But they'll still get drunk one night and **** viciously causing a rift in Barry and Iris' relationship that both creates an overused romantic subplot and sullies all three characters' reputations, right?

None of the above.

According to another poster, Patty is a closeted lesbian and uses Barry as a beard. The ensuing trauma leads to much needed character development for Barry Allen.

but it turns out that Patty's secret lesbian lover was just Zoom ****ing with Barry.

which ended up creating a lesbian speed force.

Then in their heartbroken angst, Barry and Patty will have sex and 9 months later a nonsensically named Wally West will be born.

ya know, as long as he's anything like the real Wally, I think I would even take that. :csad:

He won't be.

He'll be a drug addicted gangbanger who lights babies on fire for fun.

As of Flash #7 it looks as if the love triangle will soon be resolved ....

It really looks as if things will be as they're supposed to be (Barry/Iris coupling). He jumped into a wormhole to find her. Plus Patty was mislead to believe that the Flash is responsible for Barry's disappearance since she thinks that Barry got sucked into a Speed Force wormhole. Methinks she might turn into one of those ex-gf villains.

Did anybody catch the reference to the Pied Piper? It really looks as if Singh has ties to the Rogues and he might turn out to be the new Weather Wizard

I think them defining the speed force kinda destroys the point of it. I think it works better as a big, mysterious...well, force.

They've described it to some extent in the past and it worked fine. Just don't go overboard with details and definitions.

They mentioned that they would combine concepts that Waid and Geoff Johns introduced and make it such that the Speed Force can be described in just one sentence.

As far as making it mysterious, I think it kind of helps to give it some kind of vague explanation. If it becomes too mysterious it sort of becomes too much of a deus ex machina (not that it already isn't).

As long as they dump that boos**t about Barry creating it, then I'm good.

I liked the explanation that it was the cause of all kinetic energy or basically motion.
