The Official Flash thread - Part 1

but it turns out that Patty's secret lesbian lover was just Zoom ****ing with Barry.

which ended up creating a lesbian speed force.

Who told you about the lesbian speed force :argh:

We're supposed to keep that a secret

I would be interested in seeing how a Lesbian Speed Force would be defined ....

Super speed is one of our many superhuman powers

All of the above.:o

Oh 'Nubsy

As long as they dump that boos**t about Barry creating it, then I'm good.

I liked the explanation that it was the cause of all kinetic energy or basically motion.
Yeah, that was cool. Back in the days when all energy was part of the Source and the Speed Force was just the name speedsters gave to the kinetic energy part of it.

I liked Rebirth. It was full of cheese at every turn.

It can be fun in a so bad its good way like a Nicholas Cage movie

Or Rise of Arsenal

See, I was taking it seriously until they screamed out "YOU'RE BECOMING THE BLACK FLASH!!" Then I was like "ah, it's like that..." then reread it looking at it as tongue in cheek super heroics.

It wasn't, though. It was Johns pouring his heart out to make his childhood hero Barry Allen seem cool.

It still astounds me that a ****ing rookie writer/artist in Francis Manapul could write a more likable and endearing Barry than Johns ever could.

Rebirth was eh. But he did just fine with Barry in the main series and Flashpoint. I do prefer Manapul's version though.

Nah, Barry before Flashpoint was awful. All he did was whine and complain about having died. :o

I thought johns' barry was good

manapul showed me the light

I thought what Johns was going for was that being dead (or in limbo or whatever) messes a person up and that it takes a while to find your footing again if you're lucky enough to get resurrected. Just my 2 cents.

Yeah, I get what he was trying to do. And it made sense.

The problem was he sucked at doing it.

That and the Mom thing. Which he came to terms with at the end of Flashpoint, so that lightened him up a bit for Manapul anyhow.

The whole thing with Barry's mom bugged me because its what Johns always does. Takes heroes and piles tons of tragedy on them to create angst

He's basically professor zoom if professor zoom was a writer instead of a crippled psychologist who went crazy :o

You make it sound like Johns is the only writer who's ever done that.

Just because other people do the same, doesn't make it a good thing.

Yeah, especially at DC. I liked that there were several heroes at DC who became heroes because they got powers and realized it was just the right thing to do. Being pushed into it because they feel responsible for some loved one's death isn't really necessary.

but, you can't be in the justice league until you've lost at least one parent. that's the law corp.

If your on the JLA and both your parents are still alive Batman kills one of them

lets just go through the list real quick:

batman-2 dead parents
superman-4 dead parents (bonus points)
wonder woman-2 dead parents
flash-2 dead parents
aquaman-2 dead parents
cyborg-2 dead parents
hal jordan-1 dead parent? 2? does anyone really care?

Wonder Woman and Cyborg have 2 dead parents? Wonder Woman's only had Hippolyta until recently when Zeus entered the picture, right? They're both alive right now two unless I forgot something. And Cyborg's Dad is around quite a bit in the new Justice League. I don't know about before Flashpoint.

Hal's Dad died when he was a kid and his Mom died during Secret Origin.
