The Official Flash thread - Part 1

I'm sure Mysti can give you a list of what she thinks are the greatest characters ever. They'll all be gay.

Of course she is, but that's a symptom of Rucka's love for noir trappings, not a lesbian stereotype.

alternate universes are never fun

unless it's red son

I'd rather watch batman vs. ratcatcher the movie

Well, no one's twisting your arm to watch the movie. They're still doing in-continuity adaptations, too. The adaptation of Joe Kelly's phenomenally awesome "What's so Funny About Truth, Justice, and the American Way?" is up next, I believe.

She isn't emotionally damaged and promiscuous like his other lesbian characters?

Renee is the only lesbian character he's written who was emotionally damaged

Kate may have gone through horrible things but she's not emotionally damaged

Neither were Daria or Io

And being sexually active isn't a bad thing. Enjoying sex and having sex is healthy and normal whether you're straight or lgbt and it doesn't matter how much you have as long as its safe and consensual

Having lots of it isn't a bad thing

Though Renee is the only lesbian character he's written who's been shown having lots of partners as far as I know

Kate's only been shown in three serious relationships and Daria was faithful to Renee the whole time they were together

Most of the gay characters she likes are very stereotypical. :o

I don't like stereotypical characters

How are Batwoman, Renee, Maggie, Scandal, Liana, Starling, Catman, Shrinking Violet, Lightning Lass, Karolina, Julie Power, Piper, Striker, Obsidian or Coagula in any way stereotypical?

There are some stereotypical gay characters in comics especially in some older comics. Extrano was horrifyingly stereotypical and a racist stereotype as well

But more recent lgbt characters aren't stereotypical at all I think

Scandal promotes the stereotype that all lesbians have cannibalistic cavemen for fathers :o

Might wanna check out this issue, Mysti. Piper gots a boyfraaaaan.

So happy about this :atp:

I love Hartley and I'm so glad to see he's still reformed and he's got himself a boyfriend as well

Hopefully he'll be able to encourage him to come out of the closet

Thanks for letting me know HighFivingMF :hrt:

Ah that old stereotype

If i had a dollar for every time someone asked if my father was a cannibalistic caveman i could buy my own island

I mean he was. But plenty of straight people have parents who are immortal cavemen given powers by rocks from outer space too :o

Haha, Mysti came to mind when I read this scene in Flash #8. I just kept thinking about how she would react to Piper/Singh being "friends."

I'm so happy that Hartley's found himself someone and someone who seems like a good man as well even if he hasn't found the confidence to come out yet

Definitely want to see more of this couple together :atp:

I want to see if Hartley and Barry end up being BFF like he was with Wally and Linda. I hope so :)

Better hope he's not a villain after all, then. Barry doesn't play around with his villains like that sappy idiot Wally, remember?

I'm sure they won't have Hartley go back to being a villain though. It sounds like he never was a villain in the DCU but a costumed vigilante like Batman :)

Having him team up with the Flash could be neat even if it isnt his friend Wally anymore

Poor Wally :csad:

I wasn't talking to you. :o

You're right one thing though. I forgot about some of those characters. Striker and Karolina are two non stereotypical gays that I've read.

So how about that Speed Force?

Barry no longer the source of the Speed Force (yayy). I was worried when Turbine said that he was the solution, only to explain that Barry is the (or just a) release valve for the Speed Force.

I like the explanation of the Speed Force being an energy snowball composed of the past/present. Kind of reminds me of Stephen King's Langoliers where the "past" exists as a separate realm.
