Testing some shots for a fan-made trailer I might attempt in the future, featuring Ryan Gosling and surprise visitor for a cameo ;)

Damn, this looks great! Will be sick seen someday Hal and Barry together on screen. And Ryan Gosling is a good choice!

I still want Adam Brody in this role for some reason. I've been watching him voice the character Mondo on that Good Vibes cartoon and he just immediately came back to mind.

Am I the only one who thinks the suit from the 90's version wasn't that bad compared to other superhero suits from the same era? Hell, even from today.

Nope. It was a great suit. It could probably be a little less bulky if built today. But it's a great suit either way.

It was a good suit, even if it did make Flash look like he was on steroids.

so what's the deal, is there a flash movie in the works or what? been a while and i haven't checked in here in a while

There's a script. I imagine WB will get to it once their plate's cleared a bit. They've still got Batman, Superman, The Stand, Twilight Zone, Akira, and others in terms of big projects.

I'm also thinking they're rethinking their partnership with Greg Berlenti. Though it seems like their partnership is still strong in other projects maybe comic book movies isn't right for Berlanti.

I would image them getting someone talented and let them handle the script like with Shane Black and Iron Man 3.

But when the Berlanti and Guggenheim's script was leaked, it was very praised by everyone. When Martin Campbell enter the project, he got a new writer to remade the script. He

Eve though the leaked draft was liked, it still had the same structural flaws. (Hal quiting and keeping the ring.)

They explicitly say in the script that the ring chose him and it's his to keep and it's implied in the movie by the fact that he kept the ring and the other Lanterns telling him the ring chose him and wouldn't make a mistake.

i would love a flash movie so much but i dont have much hope for one, or faith in WB to make one. Anytime soon anyways..

Okay, Top Three things you need from a The Flash movie.

For me:

1) Mindblowing superspeed action. As inventive as the Matrix, or at least, matrix to the next level. Bullet time dodging. Adrenaline fueling, time stopping, intertia flexing stuff that makes you respect the Scarlet Speedster, even if you're one of those "he just runs fast" guys.

2) An actual likeable romance arc. A lot of these tacked on things make the movie as a whole worse. I want to see an Iris West that I could actually fall for because of how she, not just cuz I think the actress is hot. Give her a personality, make her useful for something other than standing around. Give her a part in the story.

3) A comic book villain to give Flash a 'run' for his money. Someone with either area attacks or something that fatigues Flash's speed, so they can be a problem, without having to be Flash's ultimate villain, or another speedster.

Mindblowing superspeed action.
Oh yeah!!! Watching The Flash in "speed mode" should feel like you have lost your breath and stars are dancing in front of your eyes, and that you at the same time are taken for a ride in the world's fastest rollercoaster

one thing I'm pretty sure of is that barry allen will be the flash in this film.

Agreed.

And the film will be banned by Wally West fans for being about Barry and not Wally, who has been unfairly shafted in recent times.

^If Wally fans can't upset comics sales, they sure can't do anything to upset movie sales.

I think Wally works best when we know his background, and that means showing him as a kid idolizing his Uncle Barry. These legacy heroes, especially Kyle and Wally, make more sense and resonate better emotionally in light of their predecessors. If we never see their predecessors... who cares?

hmm... would Flash have made a better vehicle for Ryan Reynolds? we'll never know.. I just hope that the Flash project didn't get killed because of the modest response to Green Lantern at the box office (hopefully the video/cable returns are big)..

..So is Zoom the natural villain for part 1 because of the same-powers-but-evil angle?

what about part 2.. captain cold and weather wizard? Should Grodd be a villain at all? Monsieur Mallah? does the Gorilla City/sentient ape concept push things too much into fantasy?

Considering Zoom is Flash's most powerful and personal villain, he should be saved for a sequel and a few of the rogues should be the villain in the first movie. Its hard to raise the stakes after Zoom.

The more I think about it, the more I think The Flash would make an incredibly awesome CSI procedural show. He has an extensive, extensive Rogue's gallery that can't fit in three movies, he IS a CSI, he has a simple power easily and often done on television, he has a solid supporting cast of family and police officers... it just works. Start with a two hour made for TV movie and go from there.

The FLASH
(coming to the CW?)

Main Cast:
Barry Allen, age 30, CSI new to Central City Police Department, has some scars in his past, some things he's trying to outrun. He's very methodical and deliberate, which makes him exceptional at his job.
Iris West, 27, TV news reporter, red hair, very streetwise, quick witted, liberal and quietly nurturing, begins a relationship with Barry.
Wally West, 12, Iris' nephew that she takes care of after his mother was committed, inquisitive, has ADD
Detective Jared Morillo, 30s, in charge of the high profile cases that Flash usually ends up tackling. They develop a prickly relationship, though Morillo loves Barry.
Jay Garrick, 50s, mysterious old man, seems to know a lot about speed, a mentor of sorts, crazy like a fox old man
Eobard Thawne, 45, CEO of Thawne Industries, big employer in Keystone, takes a shine to Barry after a chance encounter. His tech is often co-opted by the criminal element in Central City.

2-Part Pilot Synopsis
- Barry Allen moves to Central City to get a new lease on life. He meets an old college buddy, Albert Desmond, working on something big for a Thawne Industries. He also runs across the beautiful Iris West in a 'cute' way before discovering she's a big time reporter. (They cross paths often as they both are the second people to the scene of a crime). A serial killer is on the loose taking up most of Barry's time, but in his off time, Barry visits Desmond, some lightning accident occurs, and the project blows up in Barry's face, giving him his titular powers. This changes his life dramatically, and his friend Desmond helps him cope, and develop a suit, but then Barry discovers that Desmond is the killer! They face off, Desmond with his 'philosopher's stone' invention, and Barry with his super speed. Guess who wins? Desmond is sucked into the stone somehow, and the case is closed. The last shot we see is of Thawne cradling the stone, and another case coming in before the Flash runs off into the sunset.

Any thoughts?

I know some want a movie, but a TV show could be awesome...

I said the same thing about the Flash and CSI a while ago. It's a good procedural that can really play up the team aspect of the police department. CSI is also shot in a pretty slick way, it'll look really nice on screen.

I agree, but that's one of the things that keep me asking myself if it can be done. You have a superhero with SUPERSPEED, so it's a little weird and contradictory to show his skills in SLOW MOTION. It's a superpower that just doesn't look good on screen.

I guess I was thinking more along the lines of everyone else moving in slow mo while he moves normally.

It's kind of hard to showcase superspeed without it becoming derivative of Matrix effects though. It's still in play to this day because no one can figure out how to convey it any different.
