The Official Flash Thread - Part 2

Flash can be a modest hit. In my opinion, Iron Man was a perfect storm, and can't be expected for every B-list superhero. That's why Green Lantern, Thor, and an X-Men movie without Wolverine have struggled to make the big bucks. Iron Man itself would've been modest without Robert Downey Jr.

As long as they can make Flash for the 200-225 Million TOTAL (advertising, production etc) that Iron Man 1 and Thor cost, instead of Green Lantern's 300 Million plus, they can make money off of this and finally launch DC as a viable film brand beyond its big 2.

I wonder when WB/DC is going to talk about their other super hero characters coming to the big screen. Or if they'll really just move forward with a JL and make spinoffs of that. Which might turn out better for them.

They need to work on making a good superhero movie that isn't Batman. With the failure of Green Lantern all our hopes are pinned on Man Of Steel.

Pinning all your hopes on Zak Snyder to rescue a genre is a scary prospect, indeed.

How so? Watchmen was a great movie.
The Director's Cut was outstanding. It really did not get the critical response that, in retrospect, I think it deserved, but the theatrical release does play like a preview of the actual film.

Well the thing that offsets his involvement is David Goyer as the writer and of course Christopher Nolan as the producer. Hans Zimmer is also doing the music. I hope that the movie won't look like Sucker Punch with a lot of slow motion though. Especially in a Superman movie.

I don't see how they offset his involvement. Snyder has only had one misstep in his career, which was Sucker Punch, a personal project. He's already said that he's shooting Man Of Steel in a completely different style.

True. I mean don't get me wrong. He really does get a lot of negative feedback from people who I think are hating just because it's the cool thing to do. Watchmen was incredible and 300 was really good for me. Sucker Punch wasn't even that bad a film as a lot of people are making it out to be in my opinion. Perhaps I'm missing some glaring mistakes, but it wasn't that bad. I could do a lot without the slow motion though.

Green Lantern made me appreciate Sucker Punch more.

By the way I screwed up. Hans Zimmer isn't scoring the film. Don't know why I thought he was.

Watchmen was a great *graphic novel.* As a movie...? Not so much. I luh-huv Watchmen, and had high hopes for the movie and for Snyder's role in it, but the end product turned out to be a drag, with certain "artistic licenses" taken that didn't work at all, and there's the fact that Zack left out some very key scenes from the novel (Rorschach's flashback "origins" scene was unforgivably truncated).

What worked for "300" doesn't necessarily work for "Watchmen." And that style *definitely* doesn't work for Superman.

There was no way Snyder was going to fit the whole comic into the movie.

Snyder didn't use the 300 style for Watchmen. 300 was filmed against a bluescreen, Watchmen was on sets. Sure, there are a few stylistic similarities, but it's the same director. And he is using a different style for Superman.

Maybe WB can get G. Del Toro to produce the Flash. Not direct if course but have him look over the Flash with the care it needs

The Watchmen movie was boring.

I really like how Warner Brothers is so great at the production design when it comes to their DC films, but the stories they put in the movies are just not great.

Why Del toro? He's good and but to be a hands on producer for Flash I dont see the point.

It's a bit like how he was a consultant and producer for 'How to Train Your Dragon' and the Kung Fu Pandas. The quality went up drastically from the usual Dreamwork's affairs.

I'm just tossing his name in because he seems like one of the few dudes in the biz who cares. With his new relationship with Legendary and WB, maybe it'll be easier to pursue him.

Now is he right for The Flash? As a director not really. But if he could be a quality control producer who'll allow the director to do his thing too, then heck yeah he should join.

Why should they scrap the script? It's been described as one part superhero, one part crime drama.... and with elements of sports film as well. Isn't that interesting? They could change a few things yes, but not write a whole new script. That will be just crazy.

Del Toro wasn't a consultant or a producer for HTTYD. Now Kung Fu Panda 2 was a good movie, and him being the executive producer for it helps but the thing is the first movie was good as well and he didn't produce that one.

He for 'Dragon' was if I'm not mistaken but he didn't take credit. Like how Jonathan Nolan did a polish for Batman Begins and didn't get a credit. His work on 'Dragon' led to a producing gig for King Fu Panda and future Dreamwork's cartoons.

Were you talking to mr because I've never once they should scrape the script.
