The Official Flash Thread - Part 2

We can all agree that 'serious' shouldn't be the way to go. It should be fun but with serious moments, like JJ Abrams' Star Trek.Right, Airwing. Righhhttt?

Took the words right out of my mouth. I have felt this way for awhile. Which is why I would really like to see a Flash movie written and produced by Abram co-horts Damon Lindelof and Carlton Cuse of Lost, and then get one of the Bad Robot crew directors like Matt Reeves or Jack Bender, who directed many episodes of Lost, usually the higher budgeted episodes with a bigger scale. Before you scoff at a primarily television director in the chair, remember Nick Meyer Star Trek: Wrath of Khan.

These two have already shown an appreciation for The Flash with Flash comics turning up in the show and having Hurley defend the character after Charlie said it was a boring concept.

Also, I don't mean to overpost here, but I have to say. After watching The Dark Knight Rises teaser trailer, as I'm sure everyone else has, something about that last shot of Bane advancing toward a beat to hell and backpedaling Batman made me entertain using Gorilla Grodd in a live action Flash movie. Then, the more I think about TDKR using Bane in general makes me WANT to use Gorilla Grodd.

Before you flame me, know that I know Bane and Grodd are totally seperate creatures and that the Nolanverse is realistic and we will get a realistic Bane. Well, a Flash movie will obviously take place in a world of fantasy and sci-fi, so bringing in a Grodd, while over the top, could work. I think what has me making the parallel between Bane and Grodd is the intimidation factor. In the two quick shots we saw of Bane's face and then the one of his side as he approached a worn Batman, the intimidation factor was their. I think the same could be done with Flash versus Grodd. Plus, you can poke fun in a Flash-y way. I picture a scene with Wally yelling COME ON, Giant Apes. WHY?

Well, I now have three Wally West film ideas. The first one he battles a Hunter Zolomon after Zolomon kills Barry Allen, with Zolomon being a combination between his Zoom character and the original Reverse Flash, "The Rival". In the 2nd he battles a rogue grouping, and the 3rd is Grodd. Nice.

That was a very cool shot in the TDKR trailer

Im still not sold on Grodd. Idk, I just cant see it working really well in live action. Wally tho, is an idea I really like

I see people complaining about the lack of new footage in the TDKR teaser and I disagree with them. I saw everything I needed to get hyped, Gordon laid up and a few quick shots of Bane. Actually, all I needed was that lost shot. That just clicked with me.

No doubt, Grodd would be tricky and in need of perfect handling with a live action format. But, I think back to my reaction when Bane was announced as the new Batman film villian. It was WTF? I didn't hate it, but it was out of left field. I didn't expect Riddler like most, I expected Black Mask or a form of The Reaper. But, after I let it sink in I got to thinking that if done right it would be awesome. The Tom Hardy casting helped alot as I have been a fan since his role in Star Trek Nemesis. Anyway, I feel the same way about Grodd, people would groan at first. But if done right, if the intimidation is in place and not cheese, it could be great.

Long live the true Flash, Wally West!!!!!!

There is no technical issues with Bane though, Grodd is way harder to do correctly in live action then any human villain, in terms of making Grodd look good on screen and having the audience finding him a believable foe.

How about Nicolas Winding Refn?

He's a director of the film Drive, which received praise at Cannes Festival of this year. It starred Ryan Gosling and smoothly combined elements of action, thriller and drama.

As for the leading actor, I reall can't some up with any option. All I think is that it must be a quite young actor, 30-35, whose career is close to rise and who can actually act well enough.

Casey Affleck would be a good actor, but i'm not sure, to be honest.

I'd love to see him as a director for a WW movie and I know he's interested in it as well. It might never happen but I think it'd be great.

It could be worth it, as a sequel down the line of course.

Obviously it would have to be CG, or even animatronic for scenes where he's just standing there or something.

Have there been any recent developments regarding the film? Do we at least have screenwriters for it?

Another thing is that I think and hope that, after Green Lantern, WB will seriously re-think their strategy for comic book films. At least, for Flash, which is a very cinematic character to bring to big screen.

One thing is that they hire experienced writers, not some TV shows guys. We also need a creative type of filmmaker, who spent most of his time working on independent films rather than making blockbusters that were accurate almost 10 years ago. And, finally, a very good cast is a must.

I am assuming, with Flash, the best approach would be an action thriller as story and contemporary, realistic, yet, light, visual style. Comedy elements should also be present, but only when they make sense to be there.

I do hope the last thing WB is planning to do is to turn this film into another typical superhero flick. We need originality and uniqueness that will distinguish it from other blockbusters!

2013 is shaping up to be another big superhero summer
MOS
THor 2
Iron Man 3

If they greenlight X-Men FIrst Class 2, Im guessing it would be released summer 13 also.

I wonder with all those superhero movies will mean, if anything, for The Flash. I know the '13 date wasnt set but it was something a lot of us were hoping for

I'm sorry, but I don't think the Flash could hold his own in his own movie. He's kind of a one trick pony, and after the mediocre response to Green Lantern, DC needs to get the Justice League on the front burner. The Flash should debut there!

It's also just that - a teaser. How much footage do they expect to see? Hell, the TDK teaser was just voice overs against the Bat-inisgnia.

Of course Flash will hold his own in a film. Don't talk bulls**t.

So... Much... Wrongness...

Why can't he hold a film and how is he a one-trick pony?

Luke Evans and Benjamin Walker would be also good candidates for the leading role.

So wrong. The Flash is one of the most intresting and entertainig characters in comics. If they get a good writer, it would be great, and forget a justice league movie at this point. I would much rather see a good Flash movie.

Thats why I stand behind the idea that taking the Mask of Zorro route and making a movie about Wally taking up the Flash mantle from Barry is a start. Don't do the typical BS.

Do the dissenters of my opinion think that they should have done a Wolverene movie first, then feature him in an X-Men movie? I think most of you would agree that the "Wolverene in X-Men > Wolverene Origins" sequence was the better move.
Now, take that concept and apply it the the Flash. Let him be developed in Justice League, then on his own, as I do beleive he could role solo better after JL.

He's a one trick pony (he's fast), but it's a hell of a trick!

Wolverine is a part of X-Men. The Flash is a solo hero. Stupid to compare them the way you do.

Oh, you've never read a Flash comic. Got it. Wolverine's supposed to be with the X-Men. They all live in the same house. Flash has his own place, his own life, his own job, everything. Saying Flash can just run fast is like saying Spider-Man can just climb walls or Wolverine can just heal himself (both of those are things Flash can do himself).

The emphisis is more on the fact that DC needs to come out with Justice League, ASAP, and the Flash is a tent pole of that team.
