LOL, nope. I rarely if ever see Cyke in fics and Rogue, she is usually only teamed up with Gambit if you see her at all. :) I speak mainly for the fanfiction.net site which has the largest collection of fics that I know of.

Well, you can almost say that Uncanny and Legacy are fan-fics for those characters.

(ducks and runs for cover :oldrazz: )

True, considering those books aren't exactly sporting the best stories these days. :(

It looks like Gambit will be guest staring in the new "heroes for hire" series

Soz dammit he won't he'll just be a guest star :(

Also the new co writer of Uncanny said

"I quite like Gambit, though he's one of the characters whose falls in that gap between me stopping reading comics and re-starting (i.e. The 90s). He's one of the characters who I want to research a load more because - hey! - he's fun. Also, an ex of mine loved him. Generally speaking: my Exs have good taste, except for dating me."

Isn't it strange to hear a current writer like's Gambit

This plays into what I was saying earlier in the thread... the current crop of writers didn't grow up reading Gambit - and as such, haven't paid him as much thought as their child-hood heroes.

From the sound of things, he may just get a one issue cameo where he "doesn't know" he's being hired... Some new concept they're trying for the series.

Shame, because I've lobbied that Heroes for Hire would be a great place for Gambit for the last five years.

There was nothing in the Heroes for Hire thread about Gambit besides wishful thinkin'. The solicit said nothing about it either. Got a link?

It's just pictures. Nothing that says Heroes for Hire specifically...

Anyone else see the new solicits?

The December solicits for X-23 say Gambit apprently has a role.

Something about their origin's being tied together..

Cmon dude it's obviously Heroes for Hire,

The open road can be a dangerous place for a teenage girl...unless you're X-23. Leaving the X-Men is no heartbreak, not when the answers X-23 seeks about herself are out in the world. But her questions will lead her down a path more dangerous than any she's ever encountered, one that ties directly into the past of another orphan: Remy Le Beau, aka GAMBIT.

Well it couldn't be that obvious if it wasn't labeled as such. ;)

no but obvious enough to match it up with the heroes for hire stuff that were next to it

Woo-hoo! Could this possibly mean that we will finally get more clues about Gambit's background? This sounds intriging, and I've heard that Liu is a fan of Gambit.

The Hero for Hire stuff seems to be a random "put heroes together for special missions" so it looks like Gambit will not be a permanent member, but might appear in a mission or two when his theiving skills are needed.

On the solicts they also had a new Gambit action figure-guess what going on my Xmas list!

Well this is curious. Interested to see how it all comes together, though I really hope we don't just get Gambit tied into Weapon X too...

Gambit always clicked with Wolvie - now he gets the female version.

Still, as long as Gambit doesn't wind up in a Mutant-only issue, this is a liberating experience. When was the last time he was used in the Marvel U outside of the main X-Books?

Be careful here, folks. See it says "ties into the past of another orphan", not that we'll actually get to see the guy. Could be Sinister or the Guild, but not Remy directly as much as we'd like to see him. :( Not that it matters since I'll be getting the book anyhow, but I'm not holding my breath for some awesome Gambit appearance.

Eh, it's a solo X-23 book - Lord knows they have to try SOMETHING to tie in characters that have personalities. :woot:

lol i was just about to say this,

they need personalities to sell the book as no young new x-men books sell these days hence the rajun cajun

I haven't picked up a comic since.... Well, ages ago. It helps if you've been away for 9 months, but still. I just don't feel the need to read them. Maybe at some point I will. I'm just hoping, and I keep hoping for a movie with Gambit in it again, how unlikely it may seem at this point.... :(
C'mon, Nev. Don't tell me that Gambit is the only character that you like!

Eh. While I guess a few folks could feel this way, I think it's just an age thing right now.

The large majority of writers/story execs in charge of Marvel right now were young comic fans in the late 70s/majority of the 80s. And, not coincidentally, a lot of characters that were big in the 80s are making comebacks right now. Fans turned writers are writing the stories they always used to dream about when they were kids. I mean, Joe Q has unabashedly admitted that the Spider-Man revamp was because he wanted to see the Spidey that was around when he was a kid. Continuity, common sense and fan reaction be damned.

Those types see Gambit as part of the "90s were OMGZ bad" thing...

In a few years when more kids from the 90s start breaking into the biz, we'll see more Gambit.
I agree. I think it all works in cycles. In a couple of years, people who grew up reading Gambit will start writing and then we'll see more of him in a consequential role.

And that's also what has been pissing me off about Marvel lately. They aren't writing for the fans, they're writing for themselves. They don't actually care what we think. And it isn't just with the X-men. And that's why I buy as few comics as possible. If they don't care who I like or whose story I might like to see then why do they expect me to buy their expensive books?

I don't say this very often, but I have a bad, BAD feeling about this.

The wise thing is to just not get your hopes up. I am buying this book because I am getting the series anyhow. If my boy shows up in it, well, all the better. :)

I aslo like the relationship between Storm and Gambit. I always saw Storm as Gambit's best friend who secretly has crush on him but won't act on it.

I also really like their relationship! It reminds me of my mom and her little brother, both of whom have personalities very similar to Storm and Gambit!

I'm guessing that Gambit participating more on the X Men team has a lot to do with her. She always seemed to be the only one championing him, and since she has moved to Utopia from Wakanda, we've been seeing Remy more.
