The Official Goku/Justin Chatwin Thread

It was confirmed that there would be flying and "spiritual powers" in the film

Yeah, and really...it would be like making a Batman film without the batarang. It's in.

^The flying part is somewhere in JP's blog

The more I learn about this film, the more I truly believe it will be a sleeper hit -- both critically and fiscally. If James Wong can duplicate some of his past brilliance while sustaining and incorporating the mysticism and charisma of the Dragonball world, we may have a winner on our hands. However, it's far too early to really tell. A trailer will give us a far better idea.

I'm actually stoked that Justin Chatwin is Goku. Call me crazy but I think he's perfect. Not only does he have the look but at his age, if the film is a hit, he will grow nicely into the role.

I hope you are right, but I have a bad feeling about this, like it isn't going to be the Dragon Ball we really want to see.

Critics who think every movie should a life changing event will hate DBZ:up:

There's no reason why it couldn't be. It is an original concept that could have been adapted in a way Lord of the Rings was, it could have had a larger scope and epic feel. I saw so much potential in DB :csad:

You've got me interested. Either PM or post, tell me how you would've carried it all out, please. :yay:

It'll have to w8 my friend I am due back at work, but I have invisioned an epic trilogy of Dragon Ball/Z that would make heads turn.

the inevitable butchering of the story will not ruin this entirely for me...x-men was decent, but they had the story and continuity all messed up, so im remaining optimistic that it will be a kick ass movie with a lot of issues....that is if you follow the original story line religiously. dont get me wrong guys, im not defending the people responsible for this kind of meddling, but that is how hollywood is always gunna be folks..the original story, in their minds, can always be "improved" upon...

Well if this movie does well...Then Fox will have plenty of time to do alot better and not rush the 2nd one

hopefully it wont be completely "re-interpretted" beyond repair and thus vegeta and co will get the treatment they deserve

Vegeta, Nappa, and Krillin better get their time to shine in the sqeuel

(Sadly?) I could really care less about Krillin. By the time DBZ came around all he exsisted for was to get beat up, which would lead to Goku/Gohan getting pissed off and powering up. Pretty much just a scapegoat.

Right on. You know what's up. :dbz:

YA know...I keep saying that, but either no one listens or the ones who do call you a fan boy perfectionist or something.

DB's original story had EVERYTHING needed to become a NEW CLASSIC, the kinda fantastic picture that they play back to back on the weekends and no matter how many times you've seen it you watch it everytime!

LotR is the perfect example of a fantasy adaption. There's just no ands if's or buts, about it. People don't like to hear that DB should get the LotR treatment, but it's the truth. If a story that HUGE and complicated can be almost spot on adapted, then I think DB should be EASY.
