The Official Goku/Justin Chatwin Thread

It would appear the fantasy element was dropped for the more sci-fi like story elements.

This was a post on "Vegeta's" blog (he's the guy from Live Action Anime, Dragonball Movie Blog, and Daizex that constantly bashes FOX and this movie).

This is how I imagine every hater is like personally on this board:

"I actually found ONE good thing about this life

I actually found ONE good thing about this life, the one thing that can't disappear and can never disappoint you.... WOW SOUNDS LIKE REALLY UNIQUE THING! AM I RIGHT!?

The only good thing in this CRAPPY life is that there is always a solution...
So if you get sick of life, like me, you can always count on good old C4, or LRAC, or Hand Grenade, or at least gasoline etc....

Tthis thoughts have just fallen on my mind through random daily agony in my head, so I felt like I have to write it here..."

LMAO ... wow that's really messed up.

imo, that's a mistake. George Lucas made that same mistake with the Star Wars prequels...

Well, I'd say the whole the prequels actually had more fantasy elements then the original trilogy what with the whole knight factor and sword duals. Heck, even some of the clothes were fantasy-esque.

Quite right. Fantasy is beautiful. The world we live in exhaustingly mundane. If you're going to do something like SW or DB you might as well go ballz to the wall and turn the sexy fantasy adventure stuff up to the max. The problem I have with these modern day films is that everyone seems to be trying to impose "Realism" on these clearly fantastic ideas.

Certain properties don't need to be grounded in Realism because that ultimately defeats their purpose to begin with. I like Lazarus pits in Batman, and similar stuff like magical telekinesis called "The Force" don't need it explained or grounded at all. Likewise, I don't need my DB altered to fit our world either.

Fantasy is Fantasy and Realism is Realism and never the 2 should meet. :brucebat:

the prequels were artistically fantasy, but story-wise it didn't feel mythical or magical with the midichlorians and all the political mumbo jumbo.

well said darksupes. i agree with everything except the Lazarus Pits. i like them but i don't think they fit in Nolan's Batverse. other than that...i totally agree that you shouldn't try to ground fantasy in reality. we all saw what happened when they went that route with Final Fantasy: Spirits Within.

Unless it involves sex.
lol, now THAT we can agree upon!

Haha! I Agree! Can't beat Elf Girls and Demon chicks! :woot:

I agree that in the world Nolan created with realistic "robocop suit batman" Laz Pits don't fit very well into the mix at all. However, if they had went in the fantastic more mythic and grandiose Batman world from the comics then it would have been a totally different story. Don't get me wrong...I liked Begins, I would have just preferred to see a live action representation of The Animated Series world, that series epitomized everything that was great about The Batman.

whoa he pulled a johnny depp there and totally dissappeared in the role. No doubt he'll do goku justice now. Goku's easy to get right, just act child-like and hungry, boom, done.

Wow that's a lot of praise....

I've been saying Chatwin is not nearly as bad as some people believe he is... but of course, one performance in one crappy movie automatically makes him a bad actor.

Actors need good material to shine.

DO you guys think Justin Chatwin will bulk more than Tobey Maguire? (Dont kill me, sarcasm)

Oh I see, there's so much chatwin bashing going on, it seems pretty unbelievable that he'd get any compliments. No, he's good in that lost episode. I had no idea it was him when i was watching it. That's a mark of a good performance imo.

And absolutely true, it doesn't matter how good an actor is if they're in a batman and robin.

FFS.

I gotta say, at least his hair isn't that short in the movie... whew...

Dear god Jappo you have 600 posts in 1 month?
This is the only forum I'm active in. I used to be in several others but the people there had their mind set on hating it no matter what, and I decided it was a lost cause.
