The Official Goku/Justin Chatwin Thread

If it only goes up to the Freeza saga, there will need to be a lot of changes. I'd really prefer that it ends at Cell so that Gohan can become the official new protector of the Earth.

I'm not entirely sure about that. If I remember DB's development properly, Akira had originally planned to end Dragon Ball with the Freeza saga. And given Hollywood's penchant for trilogies (not to mention how the Saiyan saga ties into the Freeza saga really well, which is another Hollywood staple lately), it's probably the best we can hope for.

Toriyama also planned to end the series at the Cell saga but fans asked for more. If it were ended at the Freeza saga, there would've been too many loose ends that wouldn't have been tied up. Overall, it would've been best if the saga had ended at the Cell saga.

The most interesting thing is that every villain (except Vegeta) was intended as the final one.

I just watched the final battle between cell and gohan on youtube, I'd like to see how they transfer it to live action

Not sure, it would be tough. Gohan is a hard character to translate.

Such as?

^^

a few loose ends i suppose the guy is talking about is: Goku on another planet, vegeta roaming the galaxy to find him, gohan alone now

those are what come to mind. I like the androids/cell saga, but seing dbz end at freeza would have been ok.
.....then again.....watching goku's last battle against a wimpy looking baddy such as freeza would have sucked alittle bit

Not really, obviously the end of the Frieza saga would have been done differently had they chosen to end the series as it was originally intended to. I can't remember off the top of my head what number episode it is, but it's the one where they start wishing everyone back with the Namek balls. With some slight alterations they could have left Goku dead, Vegeta takes off into space to contemplate his life after Frieza's rule, Piccolo would probably just watch over earth and Gohan, and everyone else would move on with life. It really wouldn't be that hard.

There's no way in hell Vegeta would just leave Earth & search space. Knowing him at that point & time, he probably would've become ruler of the Earth.

At that point he was so obsessed with becoming a Super Saiyan he spared earth because he needed Goku to tell him how he transformed.

I don't think so, he had already begun to change by then and his reasons for coming to earth no longer had the same purpose. I don't think you realise just how much Frieza's death effected Vegeta. In any case, it was always my belief that if Goku was gone for good then Gohan would take over, he already displayed huge power increases against Frieza, his "explosions" had manifested into something that would rival Vegeta's power by that stage. Even Piccolo had achieved a rivaling power with that of Vegeta as well, not quite as strong but enough to keep up with him. Togther with Gohan it is my belief that they would have been able to defeat him, if it came to that. I still think Vegeta would have left Earth for a while, in search of the holy grail to the Saiyan race, to become a Super Saiyan. He witnessed it from Goku and it drove him crazy that the prince of Saiyans had not achieved SSJ, that would have been his main priority in life from then on.

Actually, in the manga, Vegeta did not shoot off into space in search of Goku (if memory serves me right) but instead lived peacefully on Earth. Vegeta, from the Freeza saga onward, was power hungry but not in the way of galactic conquest, etc. He has little interest in controlling/destroying Earth. Instead, his main motivation is to be the most powerful person in the universe.

In the manga there was no Vegeta leaving the Earth but I'm just saying that it would be pretty stupid to end this franchise at the Freeza saga as there is so much more to the series.

Not really, the end of Frieza was perfect, Goku fulfilled the prophesy of the Super Saiyan, he avenged the race of the Saiyan's, and came to terms with his Saiyan heritage. It just seemed like and epic way to bail out of the series.

I liked the ending of the Cell saga better, Gohan became the new protector of the Earth.

The series really went down hill after frieza and I seriously doubt the movie series will make it that far.

I didn't find Season 4's writing style any different than, say, 3.
You gotta be kidding. Asides from Garlic JR, which Akira didn't write, the entire Mecha Freeza and King Cold thing was so poorly executed...

But, to each his own.

I found the Cell saga to be the most interesting saga, followed by the Freeza saga.
