lol. Please avoid telling me what I'm calling for or what I do. I do read comics. I see what this will turn into if I let it. I'm good. We've been down this road before & I'm in no hurry to do it again. You're probably not in the right frame of mind for a healthy debate right now because that article may have took your dreams/assumptions out back and shot them in the face. Relax. I'm sure you'll get over it. You'll just need some time & space

Hal is the superior character, with all the villains, all the storylines, all the supporting characters

John has none of that, it's so easy to see.

John has basically no meaningful relationships with anyone, direct me to an interesting dynamic that John shares with any character...He has Katma Tui and that's pretty much it.

I think the ranking is very clear to anyone who is actually familiar with canon, and I would've been fine with any of these guys in the JL over no GL at all

Hal
Kyle
John or Guy
Baz

I knew WB was short-sighted, but this is a new level of stupidity. They have one of the most iconic heroes with 3 popular variation characters, and they've come up with no plans in 5 years?! Really?

I think WB does have a plan. The plan being to wait nearly a decade after the Green Lantern flop to reintroduce him. And in the meanwhile build trust in the DCEU brand, like Marvel has.

Kyle Rayner is ****ing boring and should be no where near these movies.

he's easily the second most important GL. By a lot. It's Hal and Kyle, then the rest. Guy and John are utterly inconsequential to the mythology, tell me one major thing or storyline either of them have done or been a part of respectively.

Hal and Kyle are the only GLs (not even counting Alan) that have ever been intended to lead the GL universe, the only ones that have ever been intended to be the main GLs.

I would love to see a Guy and Kilowog buddy cop type movie for GL to be honest, all in space visiting K'ward and fighting Red Lanterns. Just sayin'

May not be "important to the mythos" but Mosaic is one of the more creative Bronze Age if not all Green Lantern stories.

Yeah I get it. You're a Hal/Kyle dick rider. Fine. At least I get the Hal worship. But Kyle Bland-er as a stand alone character sucks.

John is more in line with Will power which is what being a Lantern is all about. Of the human Lanterns he's the most willful. He comes from a military background which falls in line with the Corps. He's a career architect so his contructs are the most complex with moving parts unlike the hollow constructs of other Lanterns. He's the best foil for Hal Jordan. He's no nonsense, level-headed, and by the book. While Hal is a snarky, impulsive rule-bender. If I have to see two Lanterns share top billing I'd rather it be these two because of their differences and how they'd play off each other. Gardner is like a hammier version of Hal (no thanks) and **** Rayner the Gary-Stu.

It's just a matter of preference obviously but there is no denying that Kyle is a far more important character than Guy and John

Cosmic Odyssey may have been a fun story in your opinion, BUT it was pretty inconsequential to the greater canon

Kyle and Hal are the only ones that can't be removed from canon without ruining everything.

They are still MAKING a GLC film and making another GL film after the disappointing Reynolds movie should tell us all they still WANT to do right by the character and they still think the mythology is something profitable and worth investing in. We don't know how the GLC will be incorporated in the DCEU on the big screen but we know IT WILL BE. It's the year 2016. They want to get a GLC into production and on the schedule in a relatively short period of time after a lackluster movie debut. This all seems pretty damned pragmatic to me.

I'd be happy with a small Hal or John cameo in either JL film.

Perhaps BvS will be so successful WB will be encouraged to put together a writer's room to plan out future DC films (the ones that don't have writers yet like Cyborg and GLC).

Or as we've seen with Marvel Studios, their schedule can change to add more movies on the schedule.

It's criminal not to have Hal in JL. Given the potential rumors of a Darkseid invasion in JL, they are missing a huge opportunity to truly introduce the GL mythos. For instance, they could let Amboyer play Hal in BvS, where he is currently just a pilot in the Air Force. Then use JL1 as a backdoor pilot for Hal becoming GL (think Gustin's Flash on Arrow). Darkseid's invasion could draw the attention of Abin Sur. He shows up to help the other 6 Justice Leaguers protect his sector. Then have Abin Sur die honorably in battle. When he dies, make the ring choosing a new lantern important. Go the Berlanti GL script route. Show the ring passing Superman, Batman, and etc, before ultimately choosing Hal because of his indomitable will.

This is a whole bunch of fan-fiction, but I don't think WB's needs to wait on re-introducing GL. They just need to do it in a meaningful way, to show what it takes to be a lantern.

It's pretty sad for DC when Aquaman -- who is mostly known to general audiences as a joke from the Super Friends -- is seen as more viable at this point than Green Lantern.

Why do people think WB doesn't find GL to be viable? It seems to me like he just doesn't quite fit into the story they're telling. Simple as that.

Perhaps that is acceptable for one film, but Green Lantern in some form has always been an essential member of the Justice League. He's one of those characters who is indispensable, especially when space-based villains come into play. I'm sure that anyone who works for DC would echo my sentiments, but there are obviously some uninitiated shot-callers at DC's bumbling parent company.

Hal Jordan exists in this universe. So he's either gotten the ring or he hasn't. If he is yet to become GL, then I already gave a simple example how he could fit in. And if he is GL already, then there is entirely too much ***** going on in his sector for him not to investigate. If Zod's invasion wasn't enough to draw him back to earth, then whichever villain (Darkseid or Braniac) invades during JL 1 & 2 should do the trick. Point being, it makes no sense not to have GL in JL.

Meh, I heard all the same stuff about why Ant-Man should've been in the Avengers, both of them actually. The films aren't tirelessly abiding by canon. They likely just have a story that, based on the overall arch of the DCEU, just doesn't require GL yet.

I'd love to see GL, for sure, but I'm not stressing it.

haha i know right!

Whenever anyone insults Kyle, I have enough rage in my heart for Atrocitus to offer me a ring. :woot:

Not to mention the GL of Sector 2813, where Krypton is located, should have known how dangerous Zod would be to earth. So that means we officially have two GLs not doing their jobs in Man of Steel. Way to think things through, WB.

At the very least, Pym should have been in the Avengers. Wasp and Lang could have come later, but it was disrespectful for the readers and fans of the various Avengers 'toons for AM to be omitted. I felt for Ant-Man fans back then, and now I'm feeling a similar disappointment first hand.

We don't really know what's going on with the GLC at this point in the DCEU. There could very well be a reason why they didn't, or perhaps weren't able to intervene in MoS and in further events moving forward. How things work in the comics might not be how they work in the films.

And I don't really feel bad about the Ant-Man thing. I liked Avengers just fine without him. If JL works fine without GL, I'll be cool with that too. Only because I know for fact GL is coming by at least 2020.
