If they were seriously considering Goyer to direct, Warner Bros deserves to lose DC.

I said Gina Rodriguez before, but I would also be willing to accept Camila Mendes from Riverdale as Cruz.

Lol never considered her. I approve. Especially since fans cast her Riverdale cast mate, Lili Reinhart as Supergirl. Hmm Betty and Veronica as Kara and Jessica :ilv:

McQuarrie has proven himself with Rogue Nation and Jack Reacher, and Mission Impossible Fallout looks very promising so it's no surprise WB is interested.

Writer/Director:
-Christopher McQuarie (MI: Rogue Nation). JJ jumped from MI3 to Star Trek just fine. I think McQuarie could make a similar jump. Plenty of experience writing soldiers and sci-fi, and he directs thrilling suspenseful action.

Is my dream coming true?

I would be very happy with McQuarrie. He'd be worth it. This could be a very big film for DC if they get it right with potential for a good number of Lanterns over a number of films. Veteran Hal would work for me, giving him due respect while allowing others to move forward from under him.

MacQuarrie would be a godsend at this point. And the premise can work; I’m fine with Hal being a little older and mentoring John, as long as they don’t make him a senior citizen.

I suppose I could live with Tom Cruise in the role but I’d rather they go with someone a little less known. Hopefully the Mummy experience scared Cruise off from fantastical material.

If Tom Cruise does anything DC, get that mofo to play a villain.

*cough*recast Lex*cough*

Tom Cruise could play Hal and still play a villain..

Cruise is perfect for this. And if they're doing the whole mentor thing for Hal, then that would be such a fun twist for him to be the big bad all along.

I hope the McQuarrie rumor has some truth to it...

Yeah, no. If they go the Parallax route with Hal being corrupted by an evil entity or losing his **** because of a personal tragedy, that's one thing (though I'd still prefer not to have it). But having Hal secretly be the villain the whole time? No, thank you.

If Hal is older I wonder if this means they'll potentially have an older Guy at some point as well.

McQuarrie is good with ensembles too. All the characters in his MI movies get some good attention, without detracting from Ethan Hunt.

I'm all on board with this. It would be my most anticipated DC movie, by far, if this is true.

That's if McQuarrie does agree to do the film. He and Cruise might be a package deal too, which would be great.

And if McQuarrie is a go for GLC, won't he bring Cavill in to play Clark/Superman too?

Yes please.

It would go shooting up my list too.

Good point. There could be a chance of that too.

But that's if McQuarrie signs on. It's still really early...

I don't expect any concrete movement on GLC until after Fallout comes out. And even if McQuarrie and Cruise sign on and get moving on pre-production, Cruise has to do Top Gun 2 first for Paramount.

If GLC comes together with McQuarrie and Cruise, filming won't start until summer 2019 at the earliest.

I don't see Cruise as Hal personally, my choice for an older Hal would be Matt Damon with John Boyega as John Stewart

Cruise is one of a few actors whose presence actually stops me from being able to watch a film. I can't put my finger on exactly why, he just does. Cut me and I bleed DC, but if Cruise plays GL I won't see it. Man, even the thought of that's bummed me out :csad:

He kick your puppy or something?

Ha! I honestly don't know what it is. I don't hold his Scientologist beliefs against him, he seems amiable enough in interviews, and I admire how he's a star who always seems to have time for his fans. But I can't stand watching him onscreen.

I don't know if it'll be that late. I know the MI series has had fast production turnarounds (like Rogue Nation and Fallout), but they haven't required extensive VFX work like GLC will.

That's not fun. That's a pretty terrible idea. Turning Hal bad to prop up someone else was a bad idea in the comics, and its a bad idea for a movie.

Just have Hal and John as co leads. People will get diversity, and you can do so without taking a dump on the character who has carried the franchise longer than anybody else.

I suspect WB wants a Summer DC film for 2020, my guess is it's either going to be The Flash or Batman depending on which is ready to be greenlit first.

Spring 2021 for GLC could work especially if they shoot it from mid to late 2019 either for February 12th 2021 or April 2nd 2021 since I suspect Fast 10 will be pushed back a year.
