The Official Green Lantern Set Pic Thread

So the logo's not a temp!

YES!!

This film gets more epic by the week.

it doesn't mean it's official still. they use different logos for movie productions all the time.

the tower is probably where carol observes Hal driving the aircraft from secret origins just before Sinestro confronts Hal in the air

just a guess

i kinda wonder if the set is being done because none of the real New Orleans airports/air fields don't have that type of 'classic' tower. Most likely when they actually film on location, the 'tower' will be added via CGI on the real air field.

^ It's the tower in which Hal, Carol and Carl watch helplessly as Martin's plane crashes.

Yeah, I was thinking that too. Or the scene where Hal gets into costume while seeing Hammond try to mess with a plane.

Or it could be Carol observing Hal flying the Sabre.

My first thought was Hal saving Carol when Hector tries to destroy the plane. That sounds like it's going to be awesome.

are they gonna greenscreen the surrounding area?

I do have to say that Greenscreen done in the open with natural sunlight tends to look very good.

They could easily matte out the surrounding areas using old-school conventional techniques. A green screen is not necessary. All they would need to do is just matte out the undesired areas with a glass and black paint in front of the camera. They can insert the desired scene later in post.

Green Lantern Set Report - Costumes

Well...we got a shot of the costumes, at least.

Not the one costume we WANT to see, but the costumes for about five dozen extras.

Bravo to Poni for the scoop. He's as legit as you can get, and he's also a fellow hypster!

Anyway, according to the report, the aliens are gonna be..CGI :( I hope it's better than the effect done in 'Alice in Wonderland', Sony's last effort.

I wouldn't give out a :( if it were ILM or WETA but it's Sony Imageworks..

they did with part 2, but in part 3, they were inconsistent. Sandman was pretty much perfect but with the real money maker Venom, his 'face' looked super disappointing.

Venom looked pretty much like Venom should have. Creepy, gigantic teeth, and evil.

The only thing I hated is that they never really had VENOM talk, just had Brock pull back his freaking mask.

Plus, if they could get Sandman "perfect", why would doing badly on Venom affect that? They can still do it well.

you're showing a shot when he's jumping at the screen, dude. really quick shots.
The part when he did talk with the mask on in the alley was subpar as heck.

lol, this movie has had like the worst security ever and I love it.

from what he wrote, I guess Martin Campbell hates Poni. I don't know if Poni was caught or not, but I guess he got on Campbell's nerves.

Let us not forget that Sony Pictures, Imageworks gave us films like "The Polar Express" "G-Force", and "Beowulf", which had talking CGI characters. We don't have just Venom as an example. This can be done (talking CGI creature/characters) and should not be at issue here. Furthermore the production has surrounded themselves with some of the best animators in the industry.

i suppose so, Dnno1. I have faith.

But please don't use Beowulf or Polar Express as examples when both films are animated, and one of them has a case of the uncanny valley.

What's the budget of this film because it seems massive.

if i'm not mistaken 150 million. plus with the massive tax breaks, you can kinda think of it as a 200 million dollar movie in theory.
