AAAAAH, Guy winds up going back to normal?! SPOILER!!!

:D

I'm looking forward to GLC. That's the only thing I'll be reading from this list. Maybe I might try Brightest Day, but that solicitation tells me absolutely nothing about the story, so I don't know yet.

That cover would be a helluva lot cooler if either Isamot was drawn the same way as the rest or just omitted all together.

Hahahaha look how smug those *******s look on that GL cover. They're going to rule with a tighter fist than the actual Oan guardians did.

Except Atrocious. But then again, when isn't he shown puking out blood?

Those solicitations lie like filthy dogs. Hal has never appeared in GLC.

As for which one to get, it honestly, totally depends on what you want to read about. Green Lantern Corps is all about the Green Lantern Corps as a corps; it's an ensemble book and focuses a lot on more on, well, every single Green Lantern that's not Hal or John. It's about the adventures of the newcomers like Soranik Natu and Sodomy Yat, as well as longtime veterans like Kilowog and Arisia. It used to be much more of a Guy Gardner series since he was the most well-known character on the book, but Kyle Rayner joined the cast at the end of the Sinestro Corps War event and now it's more or less "their" series.

Green Lantern is Hal's solo series, with John Stewart as an occasional guest-star. (Guy appeared sometimes as well, near the beginning) It's about Hal Jordan punching things. That's...well, that's it really, what more to say? If you like Hal Jordan at all, you'll probably enjoy this book. It's fairly straightforward and quite easy to get into; almost any arc is a decent jumping-on point. It also has the distinction of having more to do with Blackest Night; most of the setup for BN occurred in this book, with several exceptions that happened in GLC. Consult this sexy sticky for more info on that.

I personally, vastly prefer GLC to the point that it is my single favorite series on the shelves. I find it incredibly well-written and has gotten me to care about all these characters that aren't famous or mainstream or anything, but no less fun to read about. But, again, it's completely up to what you personally are interested in, because it's not like how Detective Comics and Batman are both about Batman, just written differently by different people. GL and GLC are about completely different characters literally set in different corners of the universe, despite the fact that they're all Green Lanterns.

Honestly, why not get both? Getting one doesn't preclude getting the other, just because they're both about the Green Lantern corner of the DCU. Especially considering the fact that the two series are probably going to cross over more often once the Brightest Day series starts, since BD is co-written by the guys who write GL and GLC.

Thanks! Really helpful. I think I will take your advice and get both.

wow! the inking and coloring on that GL cover is effing awful!
Pretty sure it's just preliminary colors. DC often seems to post covers with unfinished artwork for their solicitations. I don't know why. Maybe their coloring process takes longer or it comes later in the production cycle than other publishers' or something.

i am new to GL so i just picked up Secret Origins full series at Borders today what can i expect out of this i have heard good things about the series?

and any other recommendations if i like this

I was just thinking of unstickying that mofo, given that Blackest Night is almost over. Guess I'll leave it up for another few months, at least.

GL Movie news: Concept art designs of Kilowogg and others!

Kilowog looks funky. His head's too small and round for my tastes. But it's not a bad design.

The ring in the first pic looks ugly. And yes, I realize the irony in my saying that, given that it's Kyle's Ion symbol and I'm a big Kyle fan. But it still doesn't translate well onto the ring itself.

It kinda looks fan made or REALLY early concpet art.

My thoughts on GL 50.

Loved this issue, IMO the best issue of GL since 43. Scarecrow was awesome, I hope he gets a "real" yellow ring after Blackest Night is over, at least for a little bit. The fight with Spectre was fun, and the return of Parallax was awesome, can't wait for the next issue to come out!

5/5

The best moment is when you realize Sinestro still cares about the integrity of the GLC. Awesome moment.

Are the new recruits like extreme pros at using the rings? Its suppose to take alot of practice and whatnot to be able to wield the rings like a pro.. Is this explained/handled in the issue? :) Really curious!

They don't do too much in the issue. It's mostly Hal, Sinestro, and Carol.

Scarecrow has a moment but it's more like a kid playing with a Super Soaker than a sharpshooter with a sniper rifle.

So if i wrote a post "Scarecrow used the ring like a novice" that would be correct, yes?

Not entirely. He's able to make multiple constructs at once, and goes against BL Spectre. Why would you make posts about an issue you didn't read?

Because.... I WAS FROZEN TODAY!

Yeah i guess i'll just check the issue myself tomorrow and see for myself. It's just that over the Batman comic forums we were talking about whenever or not Scarecrow should stay as Lantern and the question rose on whenever or not is Johns making these 24-hour recruits behave like pros or noobs and if they are pros hows it possible since it's suppose to take along time to learn how to use it. ^^;

"Dog off its leash" as opposed to "fine-tuned veteran warhound" is probably how I would describe it. He's a natural with the ring, but without any training. He's the first and only one of the deputies to get pwned by BL Spectre, but then, it's BL Spectre.

Parallax comming back is rather dumb. How is the SPIRIT OF VENGANCE scared of the almighty fear space cockroach?

this issue was kinda meh to me. not a lot of content, and it was just filler to build up to parallax, which they could of done in a mere few pages. and with parallax on the cover which we've seen as a solicitation for months, the pay off was weak.
