I personally think he's been slipping as of lately. Sin City was Miller's story, what can Rob Rod be credited for with that? Holding the camera? PT was cool, he finally went back to his roots of cool movie making instead of obsessing over greenscreen and s****y special effects like with Spy Kids 3D and Sharkboy and Lavagirl.
It shows his versatility as a director.

He can handle kids movies, action movies, noir movies, etc.

All his movies were good if not better than what they were expected to be.

Sin City isn't really a good movie... And I absolutely love the comics.

But the movie IS the comics...panel for panel...liking one but not the other makes no sense :consfused:...and if you say anything about not liking Marv, Dwight, or Hardiagan in the movies I will kill you :)

Those are kids movies, what did you expect?

I expected a GOOD kids movie, and that's exactly what I got with Spy Kids. Have you ever seen it? The original was a good film for the entire family, cool special effects, witty jokes, and a very cool villain. It currently holds a 92% on RT and 96% on cream of the crop, with a total of over 100 reviews. Spy Kids 2 was decent. The ones I previously addressed were Spy Kids 3 and Sharkboy & Lavagirl, both two pieces of ****. Absolute atrocities. They were unbearable.

I agree, he is definitely versatile as a director, but ever since his "digital" age, all of his original films have been lacking in story and are there to show off special effects. And the thing is, his special effects are usually B or C-rate. I've noticed that this has been happening since he's also become the one man show. Not only does he serve as Director, writer, and producer, but editor, DP, camera man, composer, etc. He does way too much and I think it takes away. He's too busy trying to handle the entire film by himself technically that he's no longer as good artistically.

I still like the fact that he's built up his own studio and is following his dream and doing what he likes to do best but with his greenscreen films(save Sin City, which was mostly Miller anyway), Rob Rod really does come across as a poor man's George Lucas.

Bad acting and awful pacing (every voice over is sped up and the stories are cut down to a minimum) pretty much kills the movie for me.

almost every scene from the comics was in the movie though...hell, they even added one for The Hard Goodbye...and have you ever seen the directors cut? It's all 3 stories seperated and with the few scenes they left out back in

I believe the trailers will be on the Death Proof DVD from what I heard. I'm probably wrong.

Thanks for all the info! Few things...

- The DVD sets seem pretty packed, so I don't see them releasing an extra DVD unless it's a "Grindhouse" DVD (both movies, just like we saw it on theaters) with few extras and commentary by Robert and Quentin (which I would also get).

- I'm hoping the car scenes in "Deathproof" are at least a bit explored in the extras! Hopefully in the "Stuntman Mike" feature.

- The fake trailers HAVE to be there, man! :(
I loved them all..."Machete", "Thanksgiving", "Don't!", "Werewolf Women of the S.S." and the Canadian "Hobo with a shotgun" trailer (which I did enjoy cause I was in Vancouver at the time :))

Absolutely love the box art, but still pissed that their doing them as individual discs. Even though it's two discs a piece per edition.

well that breaks the experience...

but ummm which one has the trailers???????????????

Well in the theater, there were mock trailers before each movie.

I wonder if the tin boxes have the actual original dvd box inside, because they look kinda thin :?
It would be a shame, because the regular boxes are very cool as well :(
