I wonder if the tin boxes have the actual original dvd box inside, because they look kinda thin :?
It would be a shame, because the regular boxes are very cool as well :(

They're probably just like the newly released tins for Die Hard and Fight Club, and other films. Two discs just laying on top of each other. That's why it probably looks thin.

Where did you hear that?

Some bastard at the IMDB forums...

=================

killacam, I found the photos on DVD Talk. Someone who went to Comic Con got photos of the DVD covers for the films.

VampSlayer, the regular cases will be everywhere. The steelbooks are Best Buy exclusives with a bonus disc. What's on it, I don't know at this time.

I'm glad the regular cases will be everywhere. I like that Planet Terror cover more than the steelbook version. Marley Shelton...

Death Proof, September 18th. Planet Terror, October 16th.

Here are the covers:

Worth waiting for.

Ok, I see why they are releasing them separately....

But why the hell not also release them together in a big 4 disc set?

NEITHER DVDS WILL HAVE THE TRAILERS!!!

from the movieblog.com:o
As if the news that the Grindhouse films were being split up for dvd release (Planet Terror and Death Proof will each get their own individual dvds releases and not together like in the theater) wasn't bad enough... I just found something out that perhaps everyone else knew already... but I didn't. Edgar Wright (the director of the "DON'T" trailer) just told us that the fake trailers from Grindhouse (some say they were the best part about the movie) will NOT be included on either movie. WTF!?!

The fake trailers from Grindhouse were one of the movie's big selling points. There were so much fun, and really an integral part of the whole Grindhouse watching experience. To keep them away from the fans of the film (the few who went out and supported it in theaters) on both DVDs is nothing but a swift kick in the nuts.

The strategy here is obvious. They want to get you to buy the DVDs twice. They're going to keep the trailers from you when they release the two films individually... and they get you to buy the Grindhouse Special Edition DVD with both movies AND he trailers.

I totally understand how this makes sense from a marketing standpoint... but at the same time I think it's awfully insulting to the fans. Such a shame.

Meh...I don't really care. The trailers were definately good, but it's the films I'm after.

Aw, s**t. Oh well, the trailers are still on YouTube. It's not like they won't be seen again.

I heard about this a couple of days ago, I'm not even going to buy the movie now till they have the trailers.

That steelbook (tin case) has me sold. I like those more than regular cases. Wasn't going to buy the dvd....but Planet Terror is, imho, better than Death Proof, and I like steelbook cases. Movie wasn't bad, just don't knoiw how well I will like it on a second viewing.

and i add another pair of true definitive DVD edition of the films to the wait list.

True Lies:SE
Kill Bill: The Whole Bloody Affair
Grindhouse (The Whole Experience...

...because you it's coming, even if it's 5 years away.

seriously though, no trailers? that's just ****ed up.
