I remember watching an interview with Hans Zimmer in regards to creating the theme song for TASM2. He said something along the lines of, "Spider-Man doesn't have an iconic theme and I wanted to give him one." Not verbatim, but you get the gist of it. If he really believes what he is saying then he is out of his mind. Spider-Man has some of the most iconic superhero music along with Superman and Batman:

Spider-Man 60s theme
Spider-Man 90s theme (Aerosmith)
Danny Elfman theme

His TASM2 theme doesn't even come close to any of those IMO. I'd take the Horner music over his any day of the week as well!

Snap

And I'm a big fan of Zimmer's usually (I was happy to see his TDK score made the list). But man his Spidey work is his weakest to date.

I thought Horner's score was a total bore. I liked 80% of Zimmer's score but it certainly wasn't his best work.

Elfman's Spidey score is one of my favs for a Superhero film.

Yeah I really do like Zimmer as well but I don't know what happened with TASM2. Doesn't feel like there was any real effort put into his music. They put together a band, which was pretty neat in theory, but I think the whole thing just fell apart. One second you have trumpets and then an electric guitar comes in, followed by dubstep. It felt clunky (although sometimes I can enjoy the music pieces on their own when not watching the movie).

I was thinking the same thing a couple of days ago.

It's not just the movies that are good to me, but they generally take me back to some good times as a kid :yay:
I know exactly what you mean.

I can still remember being 8 years old watching SM-1 in the theater for the very first time. Whenever I watch it, I'm taken right back to those days. :yay:

Man I am old you where only 8 I was 13 lol.

I have recently discovered a new appreciation for Spider-Man 3. I still have quite a few problems with the movie, but the good has slowly swayed my opinion for the movie of the years. I can now safely say I love the whole trilogy.

Proof that Hans Zimmer made music for a character that he doesn't know at all, and doesn't care to know. His Spider-Man soundtrack is completely unremarkable (and it's even terrible in some parts; his Green Goblin battle theme was a standout in its awfulness). It makes me sad to say that, too. Zimmer is one of my favorite composers. His work on The Dark Knight Trilogy is nothing short of brilliant, and The Lion King may very well be my favorite score of all time. This score was Han Zimmer phoning it in, without a doubt.

I think the only track on the TASM2 soundtrack I really like is Spider-Man's actual theme, but I don't think it works for Spider-Man. Sounds more appropriate for Superman, in my opinion. As for the Electro dubstep theme, I think the theme works better by itself than it does in the actual movie. I bet on my life that Sony wanted the dubstep to be used to make the movie all "hip and cool" with the youngins, but creatively, I totally get why one would choose this music for Electro. Electronic music for a man made out of electricity; I get it. The "mental torture paranoia agony inside of me blahblahblah" voices in the theme are so bad, though.

Horner's soundtrack for TASM1 was unremarkable as well, but I think it was much better than Zimmer's.

Elfman's Spider-Man theme has, without a doubt, become a universally recognized theme. It's brilliant. I also really dig his Green Goblin theme.

Also, while not as good as Elfman's score, I think Christopher Young did a fine job in Spider-Man 3. The Birth of Sandman and The Black Suited Spider-Man themes are pretty darn memorable, in my opinion.

Ok, after I made the previous post, I decided to listen to some of Christopher Young's Spider-Man 3 score. Seriously, his soundtrack is so underrated.

His Venom theme is pretty awesome.

The goblin theme is asm2 was some of the best music I have ever heard in a movie and for form phoning it in and horners was just:barf::barf::barf::barf:

"Veeeeeennnooooommmmmm" love that he had a choir singing that hahaha.

That's actually my favorite SM score to date,:woot:

Agreed so much on all of this.

Me too. The third film isn't nearly as bad as people say. Is it the weakest of the trilogy? Absolutely. But I think the three films together as a whole work quite well and I can just marathon them time and time again.

Pretty much agreed with all of this.

Agreed. I know there are a lot of problems with it and I always understand when people say that about it, but there is lots for me to love about it too.

I guess I can also be more forgiving of SM3 because it's part of a franchise that I love. TASM2 wasn't only a letdown, but it failed to justify the existence of a rebooted series and a list of upcoming sequels and spin-offs.

I really think the hype of SM3 is more why people hate it than the actual movie. Is SM3 flawed? Sure it is, but I still strongly feel the movie is GOOD. It isn't a terrible sequel, nor is it a poor conclusion. It just wasn't as good as SM1 or SM2, but the movie still has much of the heart that I loved about the first 2. Love this movie, despite the problems and the haters.

I watched the opening of Spiderman 1 the other day and I really really loved it.

I haven't watched the Raimi series in about 2ish years and I really forgot how likeablely goofy Tobey is.

I love the scene where he's chasing down the bus yelling "stooooop the bus!" Just sorta his bumbling nature makes him super likeable.

I just watched 20 or so minutes of Spider-Man today. And yes the bus scene is still good. Ah I just like this Peter Parker so much.

I love that "Forrest Gump" style opening to SM1. Did anyone ever notice that?

"I'm back! I'm baaaaaaaaaack!

........my back....my back!"

Even though I was just 10 at the time, I still remember the audience laughing at that scene :yay:

It was even funnier after I found out that he had back problems while watching the dvd lol.

Well, Maguire and Jiliholl did play brothers in a film called Brothers so...:oldrazz:

Brothers was awesome. Tobey was so good in it. Really intense.
