Comics The OFFICIAL: ICEMAN Discussion Thread

He was pretty impressive in that issue. And the way he told Havok that he was alright after being pelted with bullets was so inspiring. I've never seen him in any issue with that amount of bravery... ever. He was a total badass in that issue, hands down.
Yeah I thought they both were gonna cut eachothers throats out in that issue. But I really like Polaris in that one....just because she wasn't being a biatch.

The one thing I wish they would have done with Iceman's powers in the movies, was create that same effect they did in "The Chronicles of Riddick", when the spaceships sucked in that black matter to fly.... Only with Iceman, it would be water mist drawn to his hands when he generates an ice beam or something.

I tried finding video of the Riddick ships, but nothing came up.
I was kind of hoping for something similar to Sub-Zero's effects from Mortal Kombat the movie... only, you know, with 7 years more technology behind 'em :p

LMFAO Yeah that would have been pretty neat. I forgot which one it was (not much of a mortal combat fan) but Sub-Zero did this cool move: He made some sort of gesture with his arm and then water swirled around and then turned into ice, then he formed a bridge...but FOX is way to underrated for that :whatever: .

lol that was in the 2nd movie, Mortal Kombat: Annihilation which was so over-the-top cheesy that it ruined anything cool there could have been in it. Anyways, I'm alright with what we got, esp. in the fire vs. ice thing. Not a big fan of the whole 'blizzard' look, but eh whatever. There are bigger things wrong with the movie, but let's not get into that here :p

MUCH bigger things...anywho, I HATED that fire extinguisher ice crap in X2, X3 was okay but I would have prefered the "beam" look.

Something similar to when he froze the fireball in X-Men, only with some power behind it.

Yeah, I actually liked those 2 little ice things he did instead of everything from X3.

I was quite disappointed with Iceman's performance in the movie. Sure, I appreciate the fact that he was even in the movie, but I was expecting more effects with his ice powers. Creating an ice rose, ice wall, and ice skates is cool and all, but the producers should have taken it up another level, and given us fans his ice slide... Even if it was for a brief moment. Hell, the price it took to have Jackman on-screen for 15 minutes could have paid for Iceman's slide alone. I think if Fox had done the movies right from the start, most original five fans would have been okay with that.

And the fact that they could have brought in the third wave of X-Men (Storm, Colossus, Nightcrawler, Sunfire, Thunderbird, Wolverine) in the second film, could have lead to a spectacular 3rd movie. Hopefully, Fox will reboot the franchise with an entirely different (true to the comic book) approach in 10 years or so.

Getting back to Iceman, the final fight in X3 should have shown him doing some hand-to-hand combat movies, not making icewalls to protect himself. That only happened once in the movie, and for the rest of the time, he was no where to be found... Up until the Pyro fight. Whether or not he was hiding, who knows.

And speaking of the Pyro fight, I don't see why Pyro should have ever had the upper hand... Only because they were fighting in an environment with fog and mist all around them. Sure the good guy always prevails, but seeing the situation for what it is, and what Bobby had to work with, Iceman shouldn't have shown any weakness.... period.

I agree with everything you said except for the Sunfire and Thunderbird approach. I don't too much like them is all. But hey, if Nightcrawler can get a better devlopment that Storm in just 1 movie is fine with me :whatever: .

I wasn't a big fan of Sunfire either, especially with that whole "Japanese code of honor" thing he had going for him. Not that I have anything against that, it was just too cliche'd for me to even care.

AoA Sunfire is a different story though. Him, I like. But not as much as the AoA Iceman.

Yeah AoA Iceman rocked. I loved the "mist" looking form he was in.

Iceman using his water abilities to find his fallen team mates.

That issue was OKAY. Who was the drawer for that again? I'm not at home right now.

I think I'm going to start making that noise at random times... FSSHAAAA... chik-chik-chikachikaaaaaa....

Is the vine he froze saying "Fu sho" (for sure)?

Javon - I'm not sure who did that issue. But I could have done without the leather uniforms.

Yeah. I like the way they drew his ice and I also like Nightcrawler a bit.

Iceman's not all that bad looking... He just looks ridiculous all iced up wearing tight leather pants. If he lost the jacket, made the pants a little more baggier, and wore a black tank top with the "X" logo, that would look so much better.

I just read the preview copy for #192, and I have to say, I'm upset over what happens to Iceman... Again.

At this pace, we'll never see what happens to his developing powers. Or at least what Carey will start doing with them. I'm hoping that the next issue will dive deeper into why Iceman keeps allowing himself to be
evaporated
like that. My guess is that Carey will build his character off of these two incidents, and possibly make him a stronger person. Or, whatever Carey promised was just blowing ice vapour upour asses.

Because right now, he seems like the weakest link on the team.

Damn. He's never going to reach his full potential :(

maybe this is just the begining he show s him weak and defenseless and then he rises to the occasion to being the strongest on the team.

We can only hope.

I was utterly shocked to see what happened to Iceman after an entire book without him.

It all went down like this:

1) Iceman and the team show up on the airship
2) Iceman blasts Fuego, and Fuego blasts back (ala Pyro/Iceman movie fight).
3) Fuego makes a comment about feeding his flames off of cold energy.
4) Iceman is loosing, and Fuego's flames consume Iceman.
5) Iceman slowly starts to desintigrate/evaporate, yelling out in pain.
6) Iceman is gone... again.

This all takes place in less than two pages. I hate it, but after thinking about it some more, I think Carey will give us something worth waiting for. Oh, and there was also a momment when Bobby
mentioned something about/to Mystique after Rogue really "ripped her a new one".
I think that might be the beginning of what happens between him and her.

Cool. I hope he "lost" for a good reason.
