Comics The OFFICIAL: ICEMAN Discussion Thread

I was utterly shocked to see what happened to Iceman after an entire book without him.

It all went down like this:

1) Iceman and the team show up on the airship
2) Iceman blasts Fuego, and Fuego blasts back (ala Pyro/Iceman movie fight).
3) Fuego makes a comment about feeding his flames off of cold energy.
4) Iceman is loosing, and Fuego's flames consume Iceman.
5) Iceman slowly starts to desintigrate/evaporate, yelling out in pain.
6) Iceman is gone... again.

This all takes place in less than two pages. I hate it, but after thinking about it some more, I think Carey will give us something worth waiting for. Oh, and there was also a momment when Bobby
mentioned something about/to Mystique after Rogue really "ripped her a new one".
I think that might be the beginning of what happens between him and her.

Hmmm.... what does that mean??

Wasn't Iceman in Cilvil War? (or still in)

Yeah, but he looked really stupid... Wearing tight leather pants with no shirt or shoes. He really didn't have an important role, but he did manage to at least make an appearance in the book.

I love Iceman. I have been waiting for a writer to use him well. The last good writer for him was Lobdell. I loved the stuff he was doing. Looks like Carey might give Bobby some good development

What is he currently in? And do you like Claremont's Iceman?

I dont think he likes Bobby as Claremont never really wrote for Iceman. He got rid of him as soon as he took over back in the 70s and never once had him in his lineup during his original run. I think aside from crossovers, he probably only used Bobby about once or twice during this time. Im thinking Murderworld and thats about it. He came back in Revolution and didnt include Bobby on either team, nor did he put him on his Xtreme lineup or his recent UXM lineup.

I despised Claremont for not using Iceman in any of his books. And I still have no respect for him to this day.

i do not like the sound of icemans new love interest i hate that pairing

Wow, thats horrible. I would have loved to see him in X-treme. Mabe a little rival or something between him and Cannonball. I saw a couple of UXM issues with him, nothing special though.

I'm not all that upset about it. Maybe Mystique will show him things about himself he never knew.

Ewwwwww. JK. They don't too much look right together IMO.

No, but if you pick up the latest issue today, you'll get an idea of what is to become of them.

The latest issue which is? Sorry, but I don't get X-men any more, thats why I don't know much about whats going on with him. I have my eye on Ultimate and Cilvil War.

issue 192. there is only a few frames he is in. he looks at mystique when rogue shouts at her telling her the only reason she is on the team is so rogue can keep an eye on her. He feels sorry for her.

He also gets evaporated by Fuego, a living furnace that fuels his flames from energy. And since Iceman gives off energy creating his ice beam, he gets consumed and is completely evaporated.

However, the cover of the next issue shows his fingers at the top of the cover. So we can assume he recovers.

Didn't that happen to him before?

Northstar and Aurora evaporated him the last time. And shortly after he reformed himself and rejoined the rest of the team on this mission to find and confront the Children, he gets evaporated by Fuego (the fire guy).

So Iceman has another relative no show in X-Men 192?? :cmad:

He's a definite no show in #191, not even a mention, which is why I didn't buy it. Then in #192, he shows up for the mission. There's a couple of panels where everyone is on the X-Jet, and while he's sitting there, Mystique tries to open up to Rogue and says she wants to start being closer to her (emotionally), and Rogue reminds her about trying to kill Banshee, and killing someone else, and says the only reason why she chose Mystique to be on the team is because she doesn't trust her. And wants to keep a close eye on her. And that she will physically hurt Mystique if she does anything out of line.

Bobby is sitting next to both of them and hears the whole thing. His shades are on, so you really can't see what's on his mind. But you do see him in what appears to be deep thought. This is a couple of panels right after Rogue yells at Mystique. Then, once they get off the X-Jet, he ices up, and they confront the Children. Right away, he does a (movie Iceman/Pyro) standoff with Fuego, the fire dude, and it looks like Iceman is losing right away. Then, Fuego starts talking about himself being like a vampire, and drains the energy out of his victims. So the more Iceman turns on the cold, the more Fuego uses it to fuel his flames. And eventually, Iceman starts to melt right away. He screams out in pain, and there's nothing left of him except for a few puffs of mist and "essence sparkles". Fuego is standing there by himself, and says something to the effect of "goodbye Iceman". It's in Spanish, so I didn't understand the rest.

Now we have to wait until the end of the month to find out how he comes back, because according to the cover for the next issue, you can see Iceman's fingers at the top of the book. Man, I can't wait.

Man, I'm so jealous of Bobby right now.

got the hots for mystique? for a long while i thought they were heading for a bobby/ rogue thing but if they did there would be some fanboy outrage:whatever:
