Comics The OFFICIAL: ICEMAN Discussion Thread

In the annual, Mystique turns turquoise after creating spikes out of her skin.... Although, I think it's just the colorist that made the mistake. Still, it's a nice color on her.
lol..after thinking about it, I realized that Mystique was the wrong example to use since she is a shapeshifter and any wrong coloring can easily be explained as her using her powers. Just switch in Beast or Nightcrawler for where I wrote Mystique...lol

Guess we have a long wait until we find out what was said during that Bobby/Mystique moment on the page out of #197 I posted.

But besides that, what do you think of this Iceman? He's a little too thin for my taste, but the spikey hair is a nice effect. I just think Finch (the artist) should have remained consistent with the spikey look all around Bobby's body... That's all.

I like it a lot, minus the spikey hair. Should have been more sharper IMO.

For me, I think he needs an entirely different look. I know there are only so many ways you can do Iceman, but he's never taken on his mist form, other than being evaporated by an enemy. X-Men Forever was the only exception. But that was for a very brief time.

The cover for X-Men #200 is great, and I'm proud to have him in such a prominent position on the cover. Still, the artist should have made him look a little more agressive, and more in control of his abilities.

... So what did you guys think of the (black & white) Iceman I drew?

Here's what I thought...

I like your take on it, the Hulk-type Iceman. The thing is Bobby tends to use his powers in more creative manners than simply bulking up. Sure, he's done that before, but the majority of his mutant powers result in something more tactical than brute force.

Not sure how I feel about the new picture... I don't like the oversized spikes on his head, but he looks better than bald Iceman.

i like it a lot, the spikey hair in the contet of the whole picture doesn't bother me but looking at it in that pic it seems a bit big.

well i think he looks bad. i liked the the iceman better. thsi spikey look sucks man.

I'm more concerned about the size of his forearms.

I mean, I know he's got tough luck with the ladies but seriously...

Will we see more use of Iceman's "omega level" powers? Schmidt: "If you're an Iceman fan, you'll be very happy with X-Men."
:woot:

Just thought I'd include this page from #199. Being able to go far below -200 degrees just goes to show that Iceman is definitely a force to be reconned with. Not even Colossus, Emma (in diamond form) or Wolverine could survive that temerature.

I'm loving the way Iceman is showing his true powers.
It was hilarious how he asked Cable if that temperature was enough.
Carey seems to be finally giving the underdogs (Rogue, Iceman, Cannonball)
the respect and shine they deserve. What's funny is Bobby did what he
did in # 199 effortlessly.:woot:

That's my point... He asked Cable if it was enough, because he clearly could have gone much lower than -200 degrees. I really hope Carey decides not to give him up from his lineup. I feel like he's only started with Bobby's comfort zone with his powers.... Then again, we get to see him and Sam dominating the next three months of X-Men, taking on the Marauders. :woot:

Damn, nice scan Proffezzor. Cool feat for Bobby, I knew I should'a got #199 :csad:

It just came out today (5/23/07) ... So it's not like you've missed out. Check your local comic book store and pick up your copy.

Oh, I musta been thinkin about #198 then

You didn't miss much in the last issue (#198). Bobby really didn't do much but ice slide around the villain, and say a few lines. The current issue (#199) is far better. You get the kiss from Mystique, hesaves the team from disaster, a few important lines, and the feat that he did above.

...And if you think that's something, then you need to make sure you pick up issue #200 next month.

Iceman is one of my favorite characters. Im glad someone is finally paying attention. Last writer to do him justice was Lobdell 10 years ago

A slightly depowered Iceman engages in combat with Mystique, after finding out she was the cause of his temporary depowering.

Well they COULD make up.

Edit: Man that art is HORRIBLE.
