Comics The OFFICIAL: ICEMAN Discussion Thread

^ the"Endangered Species" Iceman (begining pages) doesn't look too bad either. But the Bobby in that book sucked.

I also kind of liked the spikes on the bottom of his ice slide in CW:X, but that was about it. They only showed it on the cover, but I could only imagine how much work that would be for the artists to draw, ink, and color every time Iceman was on it.

I'm hoping Mike Carey will continue the jagged look for a good long time, because he's equally had the smooth look for just as long.

well thats not Carey's doing. Its all on the artist

That may be so, and I think that look carried over from Milligain's run when he was repowered, but it's far better now that he's grown some b*lls. It only enhances what should be there whenever he's in an agressive state of mind. Kind of like a natural reflex of sorts.

Snow covering when he's in a "warm & fuzzy feeling" mood. Slick-down when he's in a smug mood, and chunky when he's all fired up.... Just a suggestion to appease the fans though... Still, I would prefer the way that he's drawn now.

I like Bachalo's Iceman. But the best is in the X-Men:First Class....good stuff.

How can anyone NOT like Jeff Parker's Iceman..? I fell in love the moment I picked up that book. And the best thing of all, it's a regular book now.

The only thing that upset me is that fans of the book complained about Jeff using Bobby too much, since he was the writer's favorite character. So, he decided to cut back on the "Bobby time", and evened out most of the characters dialogue.... What a shame. Still, it's a great read each month.

Glad they are respecting the power they gave Bobby. Here's hoping they won't screw it up and end up forcing him to be exiled to Jeaniville: Home of the Walking Plotkillers.

I doubt Mike Carey will make Bobby so powerful that he couldn't be contained, and would have to be killed. Although, I am appreciative that he has given him a more confident personality. I'm just puzzled as to what he was thinking when he slept with Mystique so suddenly. That kind of didn't seem like his character, to be so gullible so quickly. After all, he did tell her that he didn't trust her so openly... So his recent act seemed so randomly and kind of forced.

He could have asked her what she was talking about, and go from there. Not only that, but weren't his other team mates right in the next room when him and Mystique were shagging? ...I guess someone wasn't affraid of getting caught.

ROFL! Nice one. Does anyone already know whats up with his powers screwing up?

Mystique. She targeted him bc he is the most powerful member of the team and did something to him so that he would be less of a thread when teh Maurarders made their strike

Interesting...i'm hoping he regains them and unleashes the fury of his elemental ice powers!!!! MUHAHAHAHA!...sorry, I just like sweet feats that I find ''cool" :woot:

Again, the reason why Mike gave Bobby vulnerability, is because he understandably doesn't want Iceman to be too powerful for his own good. I mean, can you see him taking orders from someone that has far less power than him? ...I guess he's in that situation now, but if he didn't restrict himself so much, I seriously doubt he would take orders from anyone.

He definitely IS on the right path with his powers though. I just wish Mike would do more things with water, just so that he's more diversified with his powers.

really? Bobby turned into a blonde last year when Carey took over. He was drawn as a brunnette before for the past 40 or so years

damn, i suppose i only really see his 616 version iced up. thts probly why

Why not? He did that for pretty much the majority of his existance. Iceman as one of the most powerful mutants didnt come about until the mid 90s. He still takes orders from those less than powerful than him. That was the case when Warren and Kurt led the UXM team during Austen's run

My point is that if he had a full understanding of his powers, and was in complete control, he probably wouldn't feel the need to serve any one team, and be content as a solo act.... Hell, look at Wolverine. He may not be even a fraction as powerful as Bobby, but his confidence in himself allows him to be a free agent and do whatever he pleases, and go where ever he pleases, without worrying about the consequences from his superiors.

And although she was shagging the leader, you almost hardly ever heard Scott barking orders to "phoenix" Jean. Most of what she did in a situation was out of her own thinking. He team mates encouraging her to do something with her powers was an afterthought.

okay but that doesnt explain than why he was following direction from Nightcrawler and Angel not too long ago when he isnt any much more aware of his powers now than he was then. Bobby is a follower and even if he did get closer to his potential, I can still see him being the same way bc he likes for others to lead and for himself to follow direction. The only instance where I can see him taking the lead is around those he doesnt know and/or characters less experienced than him. That was the case in OZT. Even then I cant see him being much of a solo hero like Logan

I actually woudldn't mind seeing him leading. I don't think I ever saw him with leadership potential though

Well Bobby did lead what was left of the team in Operation Zero Tollerance against Baston. That was one of the few times I seen him in a serious leadership role. Everyones different though, maybe leading is just not his thing.

I don't have OZT. Is that an arc or a crossover of some sort?
