Yeah, man! :woot:
It's like...damn, I want to see it again right now.
It just got everything right.

Agreed, I was caught between wanting to see it again straight away and wanting the sequel immediately. :woot:

Thought it was a 7-7.5, good origin movie.

I LOVE IT! best superhero movie since spider-man 1 and 2.
I will go see again as soon as I can

Ever since yesterday,I can't stop thinking about Iron Man,a comic book movie has never had that type of power over me,during the times I am awake of course. It's highly powerful stuff. IT WAS THAT DAMN MEMORABLE TO ME!

really liked it. one of the best marvel films and a great way to kick off their in house productions

This movie was awesome. I honestly don't think there was a wasted scene. Oh, and the guys at Marvel better make good on that scene after the credits. I've been waiting a long time for them to do "this."

first half was excellent and the second half was good

I think this pretty much sums it up for me. The movie was good, but I really don't understand all the huge over-hype about it. Like, it was a good origin movie, but 10/10? Really?

I think I might start reading Iron Man:DoS now...the movie kinda makes me want to :ninja:

I wouldn't be surprise if Marvel sees a major boost in the sale of Iron Man related-merchandise after this.

Hot Dawg, I loved it! I demand a sequel to begin filming next week! :im:

More reviews from your friendly neighborhood Iron Mod, later.

Did anyone else think while watching the movie that if Fox or any other studio had done Iron Man that most of the dialog between Tony and Pepper woulda been cut?

God on the train ride home I was thinking about what if Fox did this. It wasn't pretty. :(

But yes, I want a sequel NOW. This movie had me so pumped I really didn't want it to end. Just shows how invested you get when the characters are played this good.

I loved it. No excuse here, the movie was just THAT good. The acting was top notch, particularly Robert Downey Jr. as Stark and Shaun Taub in his rather brief role of Yinsen, although Terrence Howard sadly got pushed to the sideline, forced to be play the straight man, but like he said... next time baby. Also I was surpised by how well the "origin" stuff played (to me as well as the rest of the audience), since it's usually the most tedious part of a franchise, there was just something fun and exciting about the whole trial and error procedure. The action was great, although the final battle could have been expanded a bit, but I guess it's better to leave them wanting more (or not). On the technical side ILM and Stan Winston pretty much have an Oscar in the bag (or at the very least an nomination), it doesn't draw attention to itself, which is what FX should do, and the sound team did incredible work too (I loved the rumbling heard when the Mark I walks). I also really liked the score, the whole rock/orchestra sound to it was very original, plus it was a lot better than having some half-assed soundtrack on a scene where it shouldn't be, but they still kept the whole rock/metal/cool thing to the music, they had their cake and eat it too. Also I absolutely love the end. You're left there thinking "this was very fun, but I've seen this", but then Stark gives his speech and it's like the whole concept of a superhero movie is thrown out the window. I can't wait to see how this is played in the sequel, as well as the rest of the upcoming goodies like War Machine, SHIELD (Snakes on an eyepatch?) and the unseen Mandarin. Favs and co delivered a welcome suprise after last summer turned up to be rather sh**ty. One last thing, that robot arm has to come back, that bit where he helps Stark got suprisingly big "Awwwww"s from the crowd.

Solid movie. The final battle was pretty cheesy and lame, but everything else was great. A good time at the movies.

This movie would have been nothing without RDJ. He carried the film.

I dunno...I love the 2nd half as well. I thought it justifies 10/10 from me because it really was a perfect superhero film for me. All the actors were excellent, good pacing, no bored middle, and satisfying ending.

I saw the movie earlier today, and while I was disappointed as hell that TDK trailer wasn't shown, I LOVED IM to bits. Him practicing the flight stabilizers was amazing.

Gweneth was perfect...I LOVED her.

Jeff Bridges was kick ass.

And what more could be said about Robert Downey Jr.? The guy is just cool.

The ending wasn't completely predictable, the movie made a good use of his tried-and-true weakness, took the idea of Iron Man in a modern war-torn world seriously, and managed to allude to a massive "sequel" of sorts. How is that disappointing?

Sure, the action could have been better. But would you rather have had [blackout]Stane[/blackout] go mute and Hulk Smash everything in sight just to sate the action fans out there? He was only out to kill Tony, and he [blackout]powered the suit with Tony's ARC reactor[/blackout]. Should they have ignored the drama for a bigger finale? I think not.

What an amazing movie. This is probably my favorite Marvel adaptation of all time. I was entirely engrossed from the beginning to end. Robert Downey Jr totally carries the entire film with his charm and conviction, but he's been given some great tools, one being excellent direction by Jon Favreau and a sharp script that injects the movie with a perfect balance of action, humor, and heart. He's also surrounded by a stellar cast, most notably Gwyneth Paltrow, who's crafted a memorable and winning character in Pepper Potts. I love Terrence Howard's performance as Rhodes as well.

I really can't think of any faults with the film for the time being. It's as perfect an adaptation of Iron Man as I could ever envision. Personally speaking, it brought back a lot of love for the character that has waned since the onset of the Civil War. I can't wait to see it again.

It wasn't...? Weird. My theater showed the new TDK, Speed Racer, and TIH trailers (probably one more, but I forget at the moment).

It just went to my "top comicbook movies ever" with Spider-Man 2 and Batman Begins.

Indeed. It bumped Spider-Man 2 to the number 3 slot...Begins is still tops however.

1. Begins
2. Iron Man
3. Spider-man 2

I thought it was FANTASTIC.

Good:
-RDJ and the rest of the cast...spot on portrayals and I LOVED RDJ's especially he was totally in the Tony Stark zone.
-The action...I really don't get where some get off criticizing the 'lack of action'. I thought there was plenty and boy was it great. I especially loved the first fight scene with the Mark III going against the 10 Ring thugs in that demolished town...that was HARDCORE. And the final battle was just as good...a previous poster put it in the same vein as the F4 final battle against Doom...I respectfully disagree. It had everything I wanted in a final battle and did not seem rushed in any way shape or form.
-The effects...flawless. I couldn't tell a difference.

The only gripe I guess I have with the film (a minor one mind you) is that the origin seemed just a tad too long...however once we finally got Tony suited up, boy the film just reached another level.

BRING ON PART 2!!!!

MY REVIEW: Warning Spoilers!!

To say that I had reservations about "Iron Man" is to understate things. I didn't like most of the previews and wasn't exactly thrilled with the cast.

I am so glad I decided to see it anyway. It is the most fun I had in months at the movies and is the best comicbook movie since Spider-Man 2. Robert Downey Jr. is wonderful as Tony Stark, he is having the time of his life in the role and we like watching him. I believe he is even better in the serious scenes then in the quipy Downey Jr. scenes but I enjoyed them both. Terrence Howard doesn't have much to do, he seems like the token black friend, hopefully he has more to do in the sequel. I'm not a fan of Gwyenth Paltrow but she has some nice scenes and chemistry will Downey Jr, I especially like the open heart surgery and dance scenes but...like in SkyCaptain, she is terrible when acting with effects. I don't believe her for a second, luckly she had very few of those scenes.

Jeff Bridges is a decent enough villian, I mean he doesn't have alot to do either because in all honesty, this is the Robert Downey Jr. show but he is pretty good, even though he looks really silly with the bald head and beard. His name is Obadiah Stane though so his ridiculous deminor fits the film.

One plot point is quite ridiculous, I mean his captors don't know he's building a giant metal suit??? But it's a comicbook movie and thats his orgin in the comics so I'm okay with that.

Overall the story really doesn't really tread any new ground and there may be way too many Tony Stark builds an Iron Man suit scenes, I mean he seemingly built 5000 of them but the movie kept it's entertainment value throughout. And it has a heart, you care about Tony Stark, you see how much he just wants to stop his weapons from getting into the bad guys hands. I was wrong, Downey Jr. plays this role very well and it's nice to see adults in the movie, I'm still not a Paltrow fan but I'm glad they got an adult female who looked like one and didn't go the Katie Holmes or Kate Bosworth route by casting little girls/ women who look like little girls as adult females.

Along side the heart the action scenes are the best thing about the movie. The CGI is pitch perfect and all of the action scenes are amazing. When Iron Man escapes his captors, I felt like a kid. When Iron man flies for the first time and with jets, I felt like a kid. When he saves a little boys father and the village, I felt like a kid. When he fought Iron Monger...I was estatic, this is what a comicbook movie fan dreams of seeing in these type of movies. None of the bland Superman Returns lifting crap, and those annoying fast cut fights in Batman Begins. Iron Man saved people and fought a bad guy. I love when the Superhero saves people... but I also love when they fight big ass villains! The gripes I have about the last fight concerned the very corny dialogue that Jeff Bridges had to spout out by way of a robo voice and the fact that you could see the Ice thing being used in the last battle a mile away. The ending also seemed too rushed and frankly there just wasn't enough of Iron Man in his gold and red suit before the battle.

Jon Favreau does a very impressive job but I wished the script paid a little bit more attention to the side characters and the story seemed rushed sometimes and not sped up enough at other times. Also I didn't care for the score. Those are minor gripes conpared to the other comicbook movies I've seen as of late so I'm not complaining to much. I love that this movie brought back fun to the Superhero, after a terrible mopey Superman movie and a pretty good but far too serious/dour Batman movie. To be fair, I'm glad it wasn't dumb but still fun (to me) like the FF movies and X3 or awful like the brainless boring Ghostrider or Daredevil. I enjoyed having fun with Superhero's again. Long live the fun but heartfelt and smart action adventure/Superhero movie.

Long Live Iron Man!

RATING: 8.5 out of 10.

The epilouge was the coolest thing ever, people were litterally cheering when Sam came on screen. I now await a Shield movie and if there is any justice a sequel. Thankyou Marvel, thankyou Jon Favreau, thank RDJ. Thankyou for making a fun cool little superhero flick.

P.S

This movie shows that you don't have to take things ridiculously seriously in order to have a good message and an adult story.

absolutely amazing imo i walked out of the theater with a huge grin on my face and havent been able to stop thinking about and quoting the movie since i left yesterday its just that good rite up there at the top of my comic book movie list with x-2 and batman begins cant wait to see it again the next chapter in the iron man saga cant get here soon enough marvel studios just showed everyone in the movie biz how to do a superhero movie rite
and if the hulk is even half as good as this were in for a great summer i offically delcare it the summer of :im:

I know. I'm wondering if it's just the initial excitement. People haven't been able to pick it apart yet.

After watching this movie I really wish that Marvel could just demand all the rights to their characters back. :oldrazz:I mean really, they got it right. Perfect even. I only gave it an 8 because there wasn't enough Mach 3 action but that's understandable.

The movie was nothing short of fantastic but with a little more action I'd have boosted it to a 10. They sure did make good use of the two hours though. It really did just fly by. Stark's evolution into a hero is natural and didn't feel forced or fake at all. I really can't say much that hasn't been said. Aside from a need of more action (pretty much guaranteed to be improved in the sequel anyway) this movie was pretty much perfect.

I'd even go as far as saying better than the Spider-man series because Tony Stark's character was wholey intact and not watered down. If anything his character was embellished and even more exaggerated than his comic book counterpart and that is just great to me.:up: 8/10

One of the best portrayals of a superhero ever. Robert Downey Jr. is my hero.
