Did anyone else love the opening scene, when Stark is attacked? Very well filmed, I thought.

I love the ending animated credits of the Armor showing a detailed look @ the (Mark I, Mark II & Mark III with IRON MONGER)

Those scenes weren't pointless, either. They built up to a pretty good part where he needs to [blackout]get that replacement reactor[/blackout].

I loved the "don't extinguish me or I'll donate you to a city college line", and then all the following warnings.

And "Don't follow me around, I feel like I could catch fire at any moment."

But the best part was when he got sprayed right after he backflipped into the wall. :D

I just came back from seeing Iron Man, two times. Awesome film. I loved every second of it. RDJ is, I think, a perfect Tony Stark. This is in my opinion one of the best superhero films out there to date, a definite must see. A great storyline too, I like how it's with today's current times.

10/10

That was great. Over three fourths of the theater stayed for the Fury scene. Couldn't believe it.

I won't lie...I am not that familiar with Iron Man. I thought RDJ sounded over the top in the trailer segments.

That said, I think the movie rocked. The highest compliment that can be paid a modern film is that the trailer actually does a disservice to the film. This is such a case. No matter how baddass you think the trailer is, this movie is much, much better. Contrast that to the half-assed movies you've seen where the trailer was gold while the movie was bronze at best.

I thought all of the comedy was spot-on. Plus, this is a movie based on Tony Stark. If you're looking for a dead-serious movie, The Dark Knight or The Incredible Hulk would be more up your alley.
I didnt say it had to be dead serious but it could have been just mildly funny rather then comedy every five minutes

Even if the comedy was too much at times, it was just too funny to really complain about. The 10% Thrust scene is probably the funniest moment I've seen in any Superhero movie.

And as I'm typing this message I'm still laughing like crazy because the fire extinguishing scene after the 10% thrust just popped into my head. :D
It's amazing how different people's senses of humour can be...I thought those testing-accident jokes were pretty cheesy and lame :woot:

The script wasn't fresh. The style may have been there, but the movie lacked anything fresh. Nothing was presented that we have not seen in a comic book movie before. Plus they showed all of the good scenes in the trailer which made the story even more predictable.

The hints to the bigger universe, the way this movie was treated as a piece of a much bigger picture, that was fresh and that was new. Batman Begins did not have that. Spider-Man did not have that. Only Superman Returns was close, with a tiny reference to Gotham City.

This movie had a mouthful of references. So that was fresh and something new in the Comic-book movies. You can't really deny those facts :)

References don't make a film. All that was was Marvel Studios making Jon set up to a bigger universe in order to have more films.

Fun stuff if you're really into the lore but it can be a bit tiresome at times. Just tell the story and stop worrying about the referenes.

The S.H.I.E.L.D. references were great up until he actually said the word. That was over the top.

And I did'nt say it made the film (other aspects did that). I merely pointed out that the claim that this movie "lacked anything fresh" was wrong. The bigger universe-reference was fresh. :)

I thought it was fun if a little flat overall. Definitely one of the better comics-based films. Solid but not genre-defining.

8/10

Wait, I don't get that, actually REVEALING what the anacronym spells was over the top? Do have any idea how many people went "OOOH!" when he said that? I mean I got it when he first said it, yeah, but I still got a pretty big grin when he actually said "Just S.H.I.E.L.D will do."

That's what I liked about this movie. It was written exactly like a comic book. The references made it feel like Iron Man wasn't the only big shot in his world and I loved that. Should have been getting that from these movies in the first place.

Robert Downey Jr. - He IS Tony Stark.

I  Pepper

:D

Agreed. Wait 'til he meets Thor, Cap, and Hank Pym. :word:

I liked it. It didn't sound cheesy. At least not to me.

Someone,
I haven't read any of your postings, I'm seeing Iron Man in a couple of hours... I have one question, Does the song "Iron Man" by Black Sabbath appear in the film? It doesn't affect my going, I just want to be prepared for the cheese... Thank you in advance for any answer!

At the end and at the start.

The movie has a heavy rock music influence so if you're not a fan of the genre then it may be a little distracting. For me it made the movie even better. Fit Iron Man as much as Blade's rap and techno fit it.

10/10 for me.

I saw it last night and thought it was excellent all around . I mean the one strike against it being it's a comic movie and that's not for everyone. It is definately one of the best superhero movies ever made. I thought the cast did an excellent job . The special effects were great and flowed into the movie perfectly . When Stark flies back to afghan to destroy his missiles that really did it for me. I walked out of this more plaesed than I have with alot of the other marvel movies. I like Robert Downey but I could see him rubbing other people the wrong way . I thought it was great in this film how his personality is changed . I also thought the humour was actually funny and fit into this movie without turning it into a comedy .
After seeing this I am definately excited about other the other projects. I hope they can do a good job with captain america. if so then they could do an avengers movie and hav eit be incredible . I just hope its The Avengers and not Iron Man and The Avengers.

I watched this film 3 times last night and I'm going to see it twice again tonight. I left the cinema thinking, I want one of those heart things that Tony has (even though he actually needs it) but it just looked so cool seeing it on film rather than in the pages of a comic. So, I'm going to get a tatoo of it on my chest....I know, I'm sad.

As for the film, IronMan imo is the best comic book movie ever made. It was perfect, the acting, the tone, the effects and the basic enjoyment that is missing from so many comic book movies was just so surprisingly facinating to witness.

RDjr completely owned the role. You know how, there are characters that are replacable and there are some characters where the actor is the character like, Sutherland is Bauer, Ford is Solo/Jones, well superman can be replaced, batman ca be replaced, hell spider-man can easily be replaced but Downey IS IronMan.
Favereau aced this film project with flying colours and I couldn't be more proud for marvel and the creative team. Stan Lee actually had a great cameo, the scenes after the credits just had me in a frenzy, I felt like yelling to everyone at the cinema to stay and wait but then I would have just looked stupid. Anyway, this movie delivers, there's nothing for me to complain about. The humour, the timing, everything was spot on, refreshing and imo this movie should be used as a blueprint as to how comic book movies should be done. IM2 and 3, Avengers movie, hulk, cap, thor, bring it on!!

Times like these makes for a bitersweet victory. Marvel studios have proven they could deliver but the characters in desperate need of going back home to marvel studios are still out there being uselessly handled by wasteful studios *cough*Fox*cough*

IronMan gets a 10/10 it's that perfect.
