My best friend is out of town, and due to our sacred dork oath, I cant see the movie without the whole gang along with me, so I'll be seeing this next weekend.

Plus, I want to add that I have never liked Iron Man, never bought a single issue of his comics and have very little interest in the character.

That said, this movie looks incredible. Im more excited about seeing this than I have been for any movie not directed by Christopher Nolan about a guy who dresses like a bat.

Kudos to Marvel for making this movie interesting even to those who normally wouldnt give a flip. It appears that this will be one of the best superhero movies of all time, and thats rad.

Great movie. Not a whole lot of action, but I was interested enough not to really care.

I loved watching Stark grow from a morally corrupt ******* into a caring hero, the love story wasn't nearly as generic and uninvolving as most Hollywood films, the visuals are great...

The Iron Man/War Machine finale didn't really wow me, but the Afghanistan action sequence more than made up for it.

Definitely a top contender for my favorite superhero film.

I'd probably go with 9.

DAMMIT I didnt stay until after the credits, Im usually good about that kind of stuff...can someone PM me what happened?

I REALLY loved this film This is up there with Spidey2 and Batman Begins.

RDjr puts so much heart into this performance, he could have carried this film if it was average.

Fortunately it wasn't, the other cast members were sincere and put honest work into this film, the SFX were some of the best I've ever seen, a great example of practical and cgi effects.

The choreography was excellent, as was the pacing and general cinematography (particularly in the Mk1 cave escape). My favourite scene was the Iron Man Mk3 vs Ten Rings in the village. He looked badass and truly vengeful. The scenes with DowneyJr beforehand, screwing the glove and blasting his reflection away were grade A awesome.

I also enjoyed that finally we have a likeable, powerful representation of a woman in a comic film. Paltrow was brilliant.

Excellent. 9/10 for me.

(Although I didn't get THAT excited over the Fury scene and was the only one in the theatre - with the missus - that stayed behind)

10/10 for me. Best superhero movie ever! And keep in mind that my previous BSHFE was Superman 1(a 30 year reign is long enough). And what can I say about Favreau? Give that man an Avengers movie!:grin::grin:

I've never been crazy about Iron Man, but I really enjoyed this movie. It's fun and very well done. Robert Downey Jr. and Gwyneth Paltrow

Iron Man is a great start for Marvel studios. I had a good feeling going into this movie, and I wasn't disappointed. It is a solid movie all around, and a great addition to the comic movie genre. I'd do a more in depth review, but I am too tired. Will do that tommorrow.

So was the whole Hillary Swank thing a rumor after all?

I really enjoyed iron man as well...

I thought the last bit right at the end was a gimmick and I wish they had used more of the bodyguard double identity of ironman. I also wished iron man had more of an outing and had become more of an established character throughout the movie. This was an origin movie in all sense of the word, kinda like batman begins and I thought that took too much time to establish the main character.

I also wished the film had alot more action in it. I thought iron man would be ripping armies apart or would have to go toe to toe against shield trying to muscle in on stark technology as well.

The fact that the jericho was the main kinda weapon in the film and how it wasn't used on iron man himself was a lil weird. I also found that the suit itself didn't really stand up to much battering. THe only one that did was the mach two but the first and last suit got bashed pretty badly on both the outings it was out on.

I wish the threat of the ten rings was larger like a whole invading army but i guess that would have made it more political. still iron man going into territory without legislation and laying down the law was something that never really was discussed but it was probably more about the morals of the fact it were his weapons that were being used.

I do enjoy the fact there was an attraction but no kissing in this superhero film, it worked well for stark and polly, I wouldn't expect her to fall for her boss.

stane was cool, rhodes was underplayed i think but he should have a much bigger role in the second film. I think they should have highlighted on the fact that tony was looking to build an iron man suit for rhodes initially but then he shrugged it. They also should have made a bigger deal about his heart and how he'd need to be iron man more but meh...

best bit in the film was stane shouting to the engineer by far as well as all the funny bits which were actually funny....

iron man for me just somehow missed out on the cool childish rush for some reason, and that's probably because iron man needed to be in the film more as iron man and the fights needed to be on a hulk scale. except for flight, the other limits of the suit were no where near tested. I thought the main repulsor blaster was going to be epic but it was low key.

all i'll say is more action next time favreau but not bad for a first attempt

solid 8

Totally agree. This is the greatest superhero movie ever! I am totally blown away by this film; it's one of the best film experiences I've ever had.

The fact that the jericho was the main kinda weapon in the film and how it wasn't used on iron man himself was a lil weird.

I'm actually glad they didn't do that since it'd be pretty much a movie cliche' one could spot a mile away.

Awesome film, one of the best superhero films to date easy. In fact I think I'd only rank Spidey 2 ahead of it. Downey was born to play Tony Stark and Jon Favreau needs to direct every Marvel superhero film from now on.

^That'd be a tall order for 1 guy.

FINALLY! I just saw the 10pm showing of Iron Man, (OBVIOUSLY...)- and i must say job well done! I thoroughly enjoyed the movie, it had a nice flow which i enjoyed, and it didn't have a dull moment IMO. The Stan Lee cameo was PRICELESS! I also thought the cast had pretty good chemistry, and can't wait to see Rhodey don the War Machine armor in the sequel! My favorite two scenes were with Rhodey and Stark in the G4 on their way to Afghanistan, and of course- the first flight simulation test run @ 10% compacity! I gave it a 10/10, because it such an enjoyable film which didn't take itself too seriously, and RDJ gave such a wonderful portrayal of Tony Stark!

Unfortunately i didn't stick around for the end of the credits, so i missed whatever happened! Somebody clue me in! Thanks!

I saw it 2night (i'm from Italy).

This is a PRETTY INSANE AWESOME MOVIE, ONE OF THE BEST TRANSPOSITION i've seen.

And after Spider-Man III i was afraid and scared. I loved SM2 and this is very very close to his quality.

Favreau did an excellent job, the armors are simply majestic, RDJ and Bridges extremely brilliant, Paltrow really sweet, all the gags are hilarious in a very genouine way, the action is very well packed, really CLEAR without freakin' shakin' cameras. The first time where Iron-Man gets in action is SO exiting... i'm gonna see this movie again and again!
Favreau RDJ Bridges Paltrow UBER ALLES :im::im::im::im::im:

Was it just me, or did anyone else catch the nod to the X-Men during the initial Mk.II test flight?

For anyone wondering, as Stark is rocketing up towards the moon, he's asking Jarvis for information on what the record for altitude is, and his HUD shows a schematic of the Blackbird, noting that it currently holds said record. I thought that was neat.
the black bird in the x-men film is the sr-72 fictional vehicle...

they were talking about the real aircraft called the blackbird the sr-71.

So was the whole Hillary Swank thing a rumor after all?

Apparently it was a deliberate 'misinformation' tactic by Jon Favreau.

And a cameo by Ghostface Killah was cut 'for pacing reasons.'

I'm actually glad they didn't do that since it'd be pretty much a movie cliche' one could spot a mile away.

But wouldn't it highlight that his iron man armour is indeed better than his jericho missles offensively and defensively? I

I thought stane would have had a jericho missle on his encorporated into his armour or at least teh ten rings organisation would have been able to use some against him.

It would have been a great way for him to show off his main repulsor blaster as being able to take out everything in sight...

It would have been a far better way for him to drain his battery rather than by just gaining altitude and would have been an excuse to drag out the fight a lil bit longer...

personally i would have been happy if the fight was at least five minutes longer. A lot of time was used up hiding or messing with the reactor

Oh yeah, that just screamed War Machine!!

Not only did IT scream War MAchine, but some guys in front of me screamed that as well. I knew it wasn't going to happen and enjoyed their disappointment when Jim said "Next time, baby".

10. This is my new favorite Marvel movie, just edging out the Punisher, and new 3rd favorite comic adaptation (just after Batman Begins and V for Vendetta). I loved it, want to see it again, but have no money to.

So was the whole Hillary Swank thing a rumor after all?

Yeah. Someone probably saw that girl that kinda looks like her in the Casino scene, and reported it as a Hilary Swank siting.

Not true - as I already answered on the previous page, it was a deliberate piece of misinformation to throw fanboys off the scent.
